Sep 18,2024I have been a client with VT for over 4 years. During that time, I have seen a change in the pricing structure, user interface, and customer service. We have had a great tutor for one of my sons, but my latest interaction with customer service has been too disappointing and frustrating to continue with VT. Yesterday I asked for a change in the block of time we could schedule for a session. The change was confirmed via SMS, but then today my tutor was unable to bill for the changed amount of time that was confirmed by VT customer service yesterday. When I called customer service to get the time fixed, I found the Customer Service representative to be rude. I stuck it out with the changes in VT over the years, but this was the last straw. The quality of VT is no longer the same as when I began with them. We will miss the tutor my son had, but we are canceling our account.

Sep 14,2024I have been contacted by some great people at Varsity Tutors to resolve my negative experience. As such, I am changing my review from a one star to a three star as I have been made whole again. I genuinely did have a good experience with my tutor. They really helped get me through my most difficult course, and I am so thankful for that. I just wish the people in charge of billing were more honest so that I could have left a five star review from the beginning. Below is my original review: I called to end my three month subscription and spoke to a nice representative that it was cancelled at the end of my term and there wasn't anything else I needed to do. Wonderful, I thought! Unfortunately a month later I was charged again and was told I only paused my subscription, and they would not refund my money. This person was very upset with me and said I don't know what my contract said. In section 3.4.2 Refunds and Redemption Period for Non-US Tutoring Subscriptions; “Pausing” it states that Non-US Tutoring Subscription Contract Durations of 6 months or shorter are not eligible for a “pause.” The service contract that I paid for had a term of three months; therefore, this alleged pause violated the agreed-upon terms. When I reached out again, I was either ignored or yelled at. I had a nice experience with my tutor, but unfortunately I cannot recommend this company for their predatory practices.

Sep 13,2024My son has ASD and was struggling with reading and comprehension. We started his classes with Ms. Kerry Willcox and within a month school informed us that my son has jumped two levels in reading and achieved his reading IEP milestones. Varsity is the best decision we made for our son.
