Sep 11,2024I signed my adult son up for 1 month of tutoring for help to pass standardized EMT registry. This included 4 hrs of live tutor sessions. The tutor proceeded to schedule many hours of tutoring and I received a credit card charge of $1660.50. My son did not realize this was costing me that much money. Also, I signed up for 1 month of tutoring and when I called Varsity to ask about the exorbitant charge, I was informed they had also put me on a monthly plan. This is DECEPTIVE PRACTICE. The tutor should be aware of what the client has paid for and not go beyond that. I have never used a tutoring service in the past and certainly will never use one again in the future. RIP OFF!!!!

Sep 11,2024Do not waste your money and more importantly your child's opportunity to prepare and have legit tutoring help. I have have been bounced to three different tutors and was only able to schedule one session in four weeks all the while the clock was ticking towards my daughter's SAT. I've spent more time by far trying to schedule sessions than my child has received in actual instruction.

Sep 10,2024In November it will be one year that I have been learning Vietnamese. It was easy to sign up for classes, get a teacher and pay safely via PayPal. I'm blessed to have gotten a teacher who works well with me from the very beginning. I have learned hundreds of Vietnamese words, simple sentences and sentence-structure. I have learned how to behave within the Vietnamese culture of status and respect. I hope this short review helps.

Sep 10,2024If zero was an option then that is what I would give. These people will rob you and then not refund your money. My daughter scored worse after being tutored by them. Worse test scores and $600 gone!

Sep 09,2024Refund received - thank you, Varsity Tutors for doing the right thing and refunding the three months of auto pay services I never intended to order or use. As promised, I am posting a follow-up to my 1-star rating. I have upgraded my rating to "Meets Expectations" or "Satisfactory" because ultimately, I did receive the help I needed and you addressed my billing issue. Unfortunately, I can't say that I would recommend Varsity Tutors without alot of caution due to your marketing/billing practices, which is a shame because I would otherwise be singing your praises.

Sep 08,2024Make sure you use your credit every month. We were on a program with four hours of tutoring every month for my son. During the summer for various reasons, we and the tutor could not make these regular sessions. They do not roll over and you keep getting billed. I didn’t realize this and lost many credits over a three month period

Sep 08,2024My tutor was excellent at explaining grammar issues and word usages also because Italian is her mother tongue she is very helpful with correct pronunciation and hearing discrepancy in pronunciation. She was also humble enough to appreciate that she didn’t know everything all the time and admitted at times that teaching helped her in her learning of the nuance in her own language. Most enjoyable and informative experience.
