Feb 15,2019Fast and fair dealing! I contacted American Federal on line and chatted with Josh Miller. He was very helpful with initial questions I had about a coin collection that I was interested in selling.I sent him a list and pics of the coins in question and had a response that afternoon. I then boxed up and shipped the coins to Josh. He got back to me the same day the package arrived and gave me what I considered a fair market quote of the value of the collection. The check arrived the following week ! Josh was very knowledgeable and profesional with the whole transaction from start to finish. I will use them again and will recommend them to anyone who wants to sell or buy coins!

Feb 11,2019I have a warm spot in my heart for American Federal because it is headquartered close to where my mother had a CPA office for a long time. In 2011 I was interested in investing in silver for her trust fund for my sister, and they made a plausible case for Quarter Dollar Military Parks coins (about the size of a doughnut but heavier), five ounces of silver each, not only for the silver but because the mintage was lower than for other years. I bought 25 of them at $242.50 each. Basically the price collapsed and has never come close to my purchase price. A current quote to purchase one from a dealer today is $139 while the silver by itself is worth about $80 so presumably my price would be somewhere between those figures. The collapse of silver prices wasn't American Federal's fault, and my gold coins did even worse. Despite the loss, I have been very impressed by American Federal's candor about the coin market (which is indeed a jungle), and if I ever decide to buy more coins I will almost certainly deal with them again.
