I orginally had a conservatory installed by the previous owners, within weeks I had problems and several attempts have been done to solve the problem. In February I was given a date for the problem to be finally resolved on April 24th with no charge by me. After I had a visit by a someone who originally worked for the previous owner and I assume still does. Unfortunatley the worker was taken ill and I received a phone call in the morning to state the work could not take place. After having my furniture stored in the garden for nearly two weeks, I rung and asked for a new date. I was promised a phone call, well guess what it never happened. I have rung repeatedly for a new date but I was always fobbed off, the owner is in the phone he will ring you back. Well guess what he never did! Well today after more rain,more mould has appeared in my living room, more cracks in the wall in the conservatory and the paint work has bubbled and it is peeling off. I was told they are new company as DNA improvments went into liquidation and they took over in February, however in February I was told they would honour the previous guarantee and do the work for free. However checking companies house, the winding up order did not start until March 2021. Think someone needs to have word with their marketing guys as DNA home improvements are still readily available on the internet. I can confirm it is the same company who installed my conservatory and they are still trading as DNA Home Improvements.
Following writing the review below, and then being contacted by an extremely apologetic stakeholder in the company who had been previously unaware of what had happened (see ‘Positive Progress Update’ at the bottom of the review), the remedial work has now all been completed. The stakeholder and his son, who came to do the work for us, have both had a great number of years in the window business and could not have been more polite and helpful. They came out on a day and time that suited us, and completed all the work necessary that same day to a very high standard. It has made a huge difference to the house as it is now much warmer and there are no more draughts. In addition they are also going to replace a window catch that was tarnished and several window keys that had rusted. They even repaired a door for me that the company didn’t fit. I am very satisfied with the outcome and as a result I have amended the star rating to 4 to reflect this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have never written a negative review in my life so I have found this both difficult and unpleasant to do. Whilst I’m sure that on supplying and fitting new products all is fine with the company, it’s when things go wrong that you can tell what a company is really like. They have not replied to numerous emails and phone calls to come back and repair all the windows and the back door that were installed by DNA under the previous owners 4 years ago. They were incorrectly fitted at the time and there is now a damp line in the paintwork around every window in the house, and there are cold draughts in every room. We had asked them to repair the windows and quote for a new conservatory at the end of October 2020, as DNA are now under new owners. However they have not even come back to us after the initial quote for the conservatory, despite several emails and phone calls from us. They obviously would rather do without £10k worth of business rather than have to come out to repair the windows. We finally got through to the General Manager (who has previously ignored 4 emails and 2 phone calls to date) and he has now told us that he is waiting on authorisation from the company’s Director to be able to do the work on the windows. However their own installers did the report about the windows on 25th November 2020 so why have they not managed to obtain the authorisation from him by now? By taking over the company and becoming the new owners they have legally agreed to be liable for any work carried out by the previous owners. If they are not genuine and upstanding enough to stand by this then I certainly wouldn’t trust them with any new business. UPDATE : The day after posting the review, we had 2 phone calls and received 2 emails from the General Manager, advising us that the company wouldn’t deal with us until I removed the above review. Also, even though I tried to have a calm and reasonable conversation with him about the issues, he hung up on me twice. So we advised the company that we would give them until the end of the week to sort out a date for the remedial work. POSITIVE PROGRESS UPDATE: Thankfully on the Friday we were contacted by a stakeholder in the company, who could not apologise enough for what had happened and how poorly we had been treated, and couldn’t understand why the issue had escalated to such a degree, since this was work that they were obliged to do anyway. I am pleased to say that he has assured me that the remedial work is being booked into the diary and will be carried out shortly, and that the company will do all the necessary work to the high standard that the current owners insist on. Consequently I have amended the rating to 2 stars to reflect this improvement in the situation.
Avoid at all costs, worst company I’ve ever dealt with and don’t accept responsibility for their mistakes, our conservatory is 2 months old and we have puddles of water on the window sills and water leaking in. Would never use them again
I had DNA home improvements to give me a quotation for a new conservatory. They were not the cheapest but the surveyour that visited was very pleasant and seemed to know what he was talking about and gave me a lot of confidence. The whole process took 6 weeks from start to finish and the finishing is wonderful. I was shocked at how quickly the whole process was compared to the other quotations and Mal and Mark left my garden as it was before they started. Highly recommend
This company is the worst that I have ever come across. They failed to produce an actual drawing of what was agreed, it took weeks to get hold of the hard copy receipt for the deposit, I had to consistently chase them for updates, they miscalculated the price by thousands and they continue to use every avoidance tactic to avoid returning my deposit of several thousand pounds. Do not go anywhere near them. Given the cheap response they have offered, please visit Checkatrade who can varyfy this whole story. I repeat, do not go near them. "I had 5 windows and 1 door installed...The Sales process was stress-free with no pressure..Was given a competitive price which although wasn't the cheapest, I liked the way there was none of this falsely inflated pricing with silly discounts ! On the day of fitting, installers Jason & Paul arrived on time ..Did a fantastic job Very polite and they cleaned up after themselves . They even helped me put back my blinds which made my life easier. I would highly recommend DNA & have already passed details to my neighbour who also needs some work doing upgrading her conservatory.
