After 10 months of training at Spike Fitness with Kim I'm stronger, fitter & generally feel so much better. A very friendly gym with professional & knowledgeable trainers. Kim has helped me through several injuries this year; I've been delighted to be able to keep training in spite of them. It's actually really enjoyable!
If you told me 2 years ago I’d be a person who goes to the gym 3+ times a week I’d have laughed at you, but here we are! After years of trying different gyms and classes but never sticking to it, I met Kim and Derek and have never looked back! They are supportive, knowledgable and make every session so enjoyable - I’ve never left Spike without having an ab workout just from laughing!! P.S If you haven’t tried boxing I highly recommend, a complete game changer!!
If you would like to start your journey to a healthy happy you, then I would 100% recommend Kim! Putting a side the fact that she’s Great at her job, she genuinely cares for your well-being… her classes are tough but loads of fun, and she adapts any class or exercise to your individual needs - having metal work in my back I was really worried when I first joined, I didn’t need to be as Kim tweaked my “station” during our circuits class and was always checking that I was OK. Top gym, top trainer!
Kim is fabulous - really motivating - makes the sessions fun as well as challenging, working with you to understand your goals and giving you all the encouragement you need to achieve them. Thanks 😊!!
I have been training consistently for just over 20 years and had hit a plateau. I put it down to age and not having enough time to train due to other commitments. Derek wrote me a strength programme that meant I could make best use of each session. By having each session planned out and tailored to my specific needs I was able to increase strength for the first time in years. I personally found this much more useful than following a generic programme that can be found on the internet. Derek has now adapted the programme to incorporate cardio training. This has taken the guess work out of when to fit this in to complement the weights training. I will provide a review of the progress of this but I expect it to be good, I hope so anyway!
I'm middle aged, overweight and don't like gyms. But Spike Fitness was recommended to me and I'm so glad I plucked up the courage to walk through the door. Expert advice, precise and targeted workouts, all the toys and a lot of laughing. Not what I expect from a gym. I can't tell you how much good this has done me. My advice - please don't go. I'd like to keep this little gem to myself.
A brilliant gym with a supportive community atmosphere. Kim and Derek are true experts and always happy to guide you and recommend adaptions and progressions. This gym oozes positivity, so many times my abs have got a bonus work out from laughing with the gang! Cannot recommend spike fitness enough. Thank you team SF!

Awesome Gym. Very cool gym with loads of great equipment. its so incredibly friendly and welcoming . Derek & Kim are so knowledgeable, patient and great and making exercise fun and interesting. Constantly coming up of creative ways to get the best out of yourself, keep developing and keeping it interesting, Highly recommend!!
Without a doubt the best gym I had pleasure to exercise at. Friendly and very supportive atmosphere. PE sessions with Kim are fun yet very effective. Highly recommended :)
Kim was absolutely brilliant. She explained everything, was really motivational and supportive. My session was hard work but I know I will see results if I keep doing and especially with Kim. Would highly recommend to everyone!

I love working out with spike fitness, this time last year I was a gym phobe and now I do 4 sessions a week including PT, circuits and boxercise! Kim made me feel so comfortable about starting something new and we laugh a lot during our sessions. The small classes are just right and very personable and the gym has everything you could want. If I ever need advice Kim is very responsive and supportive. I now have a new found love for gym life and count Kim and Derek as friends. Highly recommend to all X
Spike Fitness have the uncanny ability to push me as far as my capacity can take but to a level that gets me through to the end of the session, just! This means I get the most from my weekly PT sessions. Kim in particular is brilliant at adjusting the sessions to my needs - whether a particular area I'm focussing on or adapting to the back end of a heavy cold! Most importantly, the actual results creep up and surprise you - give yourself just a fortnight with these guys and you realise the reps you're capable of have doubled... or tripled. Adaptable training, positive atmosphere and great results!
Spike fitness is a great gym I would happily recommend. Kim and Derek have lots of knowledge and experience, and are so helpful with achieving your fitness goals. I have missed going to the gym in lockdown but the virtual classes boxercise and circuit sessions have been fantastic. It has helped me push myself harder at home than I would have done otherwise, and has been a boost for my wellbeing too.
Excellent personal training. The trainers are friendly and encourage you during training. Small and private gym that feels more personal. Highly recommended!

I've been training with Derek for just over a year and can't believe the progress I've made. I'm able to do things now that I would never have thought possible and can see the journey I've been on. Derek's knowledge and skills shine through in the effective, personalised training plan he's put together. He's motivating, encouraging and knows when to push me and when to hold back. He's managed to turn me from someone who endured exercise into someone who actively seeks it out!!

Feb 22,2023Update to my review dated 31/08/22…… Just reached the end of the strength and cardio programme and have improved both 1rep max and 5k run times! Very happy with the programme. Never thought I would get PB’s at 39. Having every session planned out has certainly helped. Previously I would try and do everything but would never manage to increase fitness and strength at the same time or would plateau and not have any improvement at all. Looking forward to a new programme!
