We went over Hot topics that could be asked in Interviews, had interview mocks with frequently asked questions and had debates about some topics as well. We received feedback as well and example answers. So would really recommend.

Sep 10,2022I thought the webinar was useful in a broad sense although quite a few of the statistics were incorrect. This isn’t a huge issue, but did make me worry a bit before I did my own research. For example they stated incorrect universities that give lower grades for an EPQ as the ones mentioned do not consider EPQ in their criteria and state this on their website. They also gave the statistic that the Edinburgh 2022 entry cut off was 760 which panicked me a little, however I researched it and this was actually the average (so quite different) and included international entries which are always much higher. They also said that Cardiff select based on predicted grades but I went to one of their webinars and one of their main selling points was that they did not judge on grades not yet received, meaning that the predicted are a threshold and don’t necessarily make up for other areas was the impression I got. Overall though, the UCAT advice was mostly useful it was just some of the other statistics were a bit misleading.

I had a wonderful tutor called Anna who really helped me get a much better score in the VR section of the UCAT than I was expecting, and also helped improve my technique for the other sections as well. I was sitting at around 2600, and really finding it difficult to get better marks, and felt as if I'd done all I could, even though my exam was in two weeks. But with Anna's help I managed to keep on going and I got a score of 2800 on the final day, which I was incredibly pleased with. The MedicHut team were also really helpful. As I only had two weeks before my exam to get tutoring, I was quite worried about whether or not I would be able to get tutoring on such a short notice. But they were great and I managed to get my first session within 24 hours, which was very impressive!

Aug 23,2022Syed really well presented what it is being a GP and what are the challenges and benefits of being a GP and offered a good introduction to the life of a GP. Aayesha introduced us to an A&E setting and what you might encounter. It has been really interesting to see how to asses patients and to get a possible diagnosis.

Both Mr. Syed and Ms. Aayesha ensured we did active recall at the end so all the information is retained. I think the experiences I've had today will stick with me for a long time during medical school, especially the process of taking histories of patients, bedside manner, communication skills and general life advice being in medicine. Excellent course.
