A Mock Driving Test is a practice test conducted and marked like an official examiner would perform an actual driving test.
It is an invaluable exercise that every pupil should experience before taking their official driving test, and it offers an unbiased, third-party opinion.
Pupils who do not have a mock test are more likely to fail due to the unknown experience and structure of the test, but those who do stand a greater chance.
What we do on your Mock Driving Test:
For your Mock Driving Test, a mock examiner will meet you at a pre-arranged location that suits you. It will begin with an eye test whereby you will be asked to demonstrate that your eyesight is good enough to drive safely.
You will also be asked questions in a ‘show’ or ‘tell’ format. After this, once you are seated comfortably in your car, the mock examiner will begin the test, lasting approximately 38 to 40 minutes.
During the test, you will be asked to perform two reversing manoeuvres and an emergency stop. In addition, you will be asked to drive independently for around 20 minutes by either following road signs or using a satnav, which will be provided.
The structure of the Mock Driving Test in more detail: The eyesight test Two ‘show’ or ‘tell’ questions (e.g. tell me how you would check the brake lights are working on this car) Assessment of your driving ability through residential roads, high streets, crossroads, dual carriageways, angle start, hill starts, pulling over safely, etc. Like all, you will have been practising with your instructor. Carry out two reversing manoeuvres, which could be bay parking either to the right or to the left, driving forward into a parking bay either on the right or left and reversing out, parallel parking on the left, or pulling up on the right-hand side of the roads and reverse for up to two car lengths. An emergency stop Results Following the Mock Driving Test, if you pass, you will be more confident and mentally prepared for the actual test. You will receive a complete performance analysis, including recommendations to fix any minor errors. If you fail, you will immediately know which areas to improve.

Dec 13,2024I had an excellent experience of the mock test with Vic. He gave me very precise instructions during the test and feedback after the test and pointed out the areas I need to work on. After the test he made me drive the same area again to show me my mistakes and what I could have done differently. I found it very useful to the extent that I ditched my previous instructor and got on board with Vic as my new driving instructor.

Hence the mock test gave me a clear view of my strengths and improved my confidence and also the weaknesses I need to fix and practice to pass my test. Feb 21,2025I took a class and a few mock tests with Vic. He is very calm, knowledgeable, and supportive. His car (automatic) is easy to drive, with many helpful systems built in to ensure smooth driving. I passed my driving test on the first attempt with two minors, and I am very grateful for all the tips and advice I received from Vic. Overall, I had around 42 hours of driving with different instructors. Everyone learns differently, but experiencing various teaching styles worked well for me, and I was able to take something from each instructor. I would highly recommend Vic, and even if you already have an instructor, definitely do a mock test with him!
