Wow, what a fantastic experience. I have just completed my Day Skipper course and had a fabulous time. Ian & Andrew were a fantastic team, between them they had more experience of sailing & being at sea than anyone else I have known. I was a little concerned that this course would be for more advanced sailors or people with lots more experience. They made me feel extremely comfortable, welcome and at home on the boat with the other users. Their knowledge and skill of passing their experience to their students is second to none... this has made me very confident of skippering my own boat and cannot wait to get out there practising my new found knowledge. I cannot thank them enough.. keep up the great work Guys. I will be definitely booking more courses with them as my experience builds - even if it is just for the amazing sausage sarnies & copious cups of tea !!
Andrew and Ian were both excellent. Putting us at ease at every stage with informative and practical information. Even though the weather was uncooperative with wind over tide (lock keeper said we would be back in 10 minutes) they both made every effort to adjust and tailor the course to suit our experience level and we really enjoyed a couple of hours in some pretty tough conditions on the 7.5m Rib. I cannot recommend them highly enough and will definately be back for more training soon.
I recently completed the Day Skipper course with Nautical Circle and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Ian & Andrew delivered a great blend of theoretical and practical learning, and allowed us all to put it into practice many times on the water to gain confidence in our skills. The location on the Humber is perfect, combining strong tides with busy shipping lanes to bring it all to life, and prepare you for future boating. Overall a fantastic course which was delivered in a fun and relaxed environment, and has set me up for maximum enjoyment in future boating.
I recently completed my RYA Day Skipper Practical with Nautical Circle in Hull. A great experience with professional instructors who delivered a 5-star experience. I can highly recommend Nautical Circle and will without question be back for my coastal training.
A great Day Skipper practical course. As a rusty, under-confident boater it was exactly what I needed. With 2 hugely experienced calm, knowledgeable and insightful trainers to 4 students we got all the individual attention we could need and the student group as a whole was engaged and supportive. The tide, wind and shifting sands of the Humber Estuary are enough to challenge anyone and a great training ground for calmer waters. What I learnt may save my life or someone else’s ......great value! Vegetarians well catered for, great training boat and good location for evening eating out. Weather atrocious for May but who cares....the timing was adjusted to avoid the very worst if it on the water. Andrew and Ian..the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore of motor boat training. Exceptionally talented individuals, brilliant as a team. I won’t describe the buoyant and active third member of their team, the enigmatic Bobby. Sign up now to meet him.
These guys delivered an RYA Day Skipper Practical (power vessels >10m) training course. I can only say that it was excellent. Both trainers were clearly highly experienced mariners but between them it was awsome. I cannot give this company a higher mark but I learned a lot not only in terms of knowledge but in terms of practical skills over a four day course.
Can’t be recommended highly enough, there should be a sixth star available. Andrew and Ian are fantastic teachers and tailor the course beautifully to the individual needs of students. The teacher:student ratio is brilliant, so they can really focus in on the areas you’re struggling with. They’re calm, engaging, entertaining and hugely experienced, they had the answers to every question. On top all that they were helpful with logistics and kept us well fuelled and watered. Andrew supplied all my learning materials in advance so I could give my old brain a head start of the youngsters! Being located at Hull Marina gives great access to the nicest end of the city with all its bars and restaurants. And if you can learn to navigate the Humber with all it offers, you can probably navigate in most places. I successfully completed my Day Skipper theory and practical and a good chunk of the commercial endorsement requirements, all through Nautical Circle. Don’t hesitate, get booked on and treat yourself. It’ll be challenging, but rewarding and enjoyable.
I recently attended a 6 day, Day Skipper course with Nautical Circle. I passed :) The course was very well organised. It was thoroughly enjoyable, informative and has given me confidence to enjoy my boat with the learnt knowledge that is easily taken onboard by the training techniques we had the honest pleasure of being a part of. The Bondi Star Stew (Bondi Star is the training boat name) is something not to be missed also when your at anchor at Spurn Point as part of your training. I would recommend this course and the company to any budding boater like myself.

Sep 28,2022I recently completed the practical assesment for Day Skipper with Nautical Circle. What a fantastic experience. Already having some knowledge and completed my theory exam online, I was a little concerned I may not learn much and merely be going through a "box-ticking," exercise. How wrong I was! You learn so much more when the teaching is in person. And I came away with stacks of really useful tips to improve my boating. Ian and Andy at Nautical Circle seem to take their educational task very seriously but provide a wonderfully relaxed and friendly environment. A hard, tiring four days - but immensely enjoyable and fulfilling. Can't recommend highly enough!
