Jun 27,2019Shirley Stead Adult Mental Health First Aid (England) Course I attended the MHFA course with Kim from Optimal and Charlotte a mental health nurse. The course was very interesting and thought provoking. It really helps you understand what signs to look out for when working with people that may experiencing poor mental health and how best to support and empower people during this time. The course tutors presented this in a very professional sensitive way giving the group the basic steps/tools to work through to support people, including considering your own mental health and wellbeing. Everyone on the course had at some point experienced times they themselves could relate to, within either work or personal situations. It really does highlight the need to try and reduce poor mental health caused by every day life and find ways to turn this around. I would highly recommend this course to anyone working with people or in a position of responsibility towards their employees. The course comes with a really good manual for reference from Mental Health First Aid England which gives you a greater understanding of mental health issues. I understand there are specific courses for adults, children and youths and the armed forces. I completed the adult course. Thank you Kim and Charlotte. Looking forward to other training opportunities with the learning and development team at Optimal.

An in depth 2 day combination of workshops and tutorials.Kim from Optimal and Charlotte a Mental Health Nurse guided us through a weighty manual with sensitivity for the subject matter. As most of the material contained triggers we were encouraged to carefully explore our own mental health and wellness, in order to provide the right approach for those in crisis. This course is thought provoking and very informative, in that it offers details of each condition highlighting both distinctions and similarities between them as well as providing a structure to offer help and guidance to anyone in crisis. Thoroughly recommended.
