Alex and team were responsive and professional in carrying out their works
Redlands Electric are an efficient & professional company. Their prices are very competitive. We have used them a number of times and Alex is always quick to reply to requests and action any works that need to be undertaken. They will clearly be our ‘go to’ company for any electrical works in the future.
Totally professional service, couldn't fault them
Great service from friendly staff
Good workmanship, courteous staff, reliable timekeeping
I was extremely impressed with the overall service I received from Redlands, and would happily use them again.
I have used Redlands for 4/5 years now as they do all our electrical work throughout a portfolio of buildings across Surrey. The team have been very helpful since I first started using them and we have carried on the relationship since. Very easy to deal with , by phone or email, and always finish the job no matter how big or small. I have since recommended them to other clients.
Very professional website. Phoned but was told I had to email. Sent email but got no reply. Several days later I emailed again and got no reply. My job was obviously too small for them even to bother replying. What does this tell you about this company? Phoned another company and they came within an hour of the call!
We met Redland Electrical or Alex Woolman, after taking-over a large construction project in Kingston Surrey. There were numerous 3rd contractor’s involved in this change-over. We elected to continue with Alex, as he appeared able & with a good work attitude. A change in project designers & management has it difficulties, & from the electrical aspect there were many changes to the specification. We asked for numerous changes & a large increase in the project specification such as CCTV, video entry system, certified security alarm etc. As the daily administrator & designers of the site we found Alex became difficult and uninterested in attending site, even when complying with his request of 14 days’ notice. Many tasks were not done or not done to agreed specification (regardless of multiple requests to rectify). We had to engage other skilled workers (at our expense) to install electrical works to prevent delays to the project. Alex used 3rd parties for tasks such as the CCTV and alarm where the final products were not clearly explained such as a static IP address for the CCTV that has many negative issues & he did not inform us or seek our permission to make changes to our intranet/IT system. We were told a visit would incur £145 + vat to attend to resolve. Alex supplied workers that simply required supervision most of the time, which at times we had to do. This was not acceptable. The ‘extras’ bill rolled in, wow some were really big. Alex charged for electrical works he did not do, or did not do fully, or did not supply the materials or 2nd fix. This was simply dishonest and Alex reduced his bill by many thousands of pounds during heated debates that he initiated and was at times abusive. Redlands staffs were found to consume cannabis and vodka on site (even empty bottles were discarded on site). One of Alex’s installers drilled through a live gas pipe!! When we informed Alex he was unresponsive. This is highly irresponsible, effecting both site personnel safety and safe electrical works, but we needed our electrical certificates, something Alex played upon & used the word ‘leverage’. We had to complete 2nd fix on the ground floor (amongst others), unbelievable at the request of Alex who said ‘take it off the bill’. In Alex’s electrical certificate he states the 3 dining table lights (we only hung the pendants) were not done by him, along with other tasks. We await Building Control thoughts on this. Alex informed us many electrical items we wanted were not in existence, this was simply false. Alex treated us on occasions like we were without knowledge or experience. Our garden lights have 3 switched lives with equal lights on each, so the same roll of armoured cable in an ideal world? One was black 2.5mm, the 2nd black 1.5mm, the 3rd grey 1.5mm, therefore all different sources. One circuit had a serious fault that required striping of a new wall and breaking-up of a substantial granite-set patio/path to replace. Alex charged us for his electrical efforts to repair this even though the cable was excavated by us & showed no physical fault. We were left substantially out of pocket with Alex claiming the cable was tested before install, but we saw no evidence of this. We feel various off-cuts or second hand cable was used, hence the different colours and cable ratings. Surely if professionally installed they would have been off the same roll with certificate? Alex has many positives but also has many negatives and the purpose of our review after completing our contract with Alex is to inform potential customers of our experience so they can make an informed buyer making decision. Alex is not customer focused. We would suggest if you have a simple project or project without changes or rather flexible working conditions then Alex would be suitable, but a more demanding environment with either strict H&S, is complex, or changes to agreed price, or organic change’s that large or creative projects inevitable have, then Alex is not a good choice.

Jul 06,2020Alex and his team are very knowledgable, they do all of our electrical installations. He is always willing to work with us under tight timelines and all works are finished to a very high standard. Most recent work was a replacement of fuse boards. Alex provided a clear explanation of the problems on the existing installation, followed by a comprehensive and carefully explained quotation for the new works. Work was carried out very neatly in very confined spaces with difficult access for installation and fault finding. Really impressed by the quality of work and by how little disruption to the power supply that Alex needed in order to complete the quite significant job of installation. Wouldn't hesitate to use Redlands again!
