My experience in Rishikesh with Krishna as my teacher was indescribably life-changing. I was in the 300hr teacher training and it challenged me in so many different ways, physically, mentally/emotionally, and spiritually. Krishna's wisdom and care for his students is profound. Stay on top of your work, read before you go to class and be open to explore yourself in ways you never have! Be open and true, and you will get everything you need out of this course. Highly recommend!
[ Krishna is a caring, hilarious, talented, and humble yoga practitioner who has made a lasting impact on so many students. The overwhelming number of positive reviews speak for themselves! I participated in his 300 hour TTC course in August 2016 and was especially appreciative of the careful attention he paid towards asana alignment. Whereas some Indian yoga teachers push their students into advanced poses too quickly, Krishna worked slowly, first building on the foundation of each posture. If you are looking for an honest, down-to-earth teacher who won't injure you during a yoga class (as Krishna humorously explained, it is very difficult for an ambulance to come to the school), then I would definitely recommend taking a course at Samatva Yogalaya! ]
I consider Krishna my one true teacher. I have studied with many yoga instructors who are self-proclaimed "masters" yet I have only truly experienced the essence of what it is to have the teacher/student relationship with Krishna. He not only teaches the history, foundation and components of the journey to Raja Yoga, but also cares for his students while they are in his care. This is what it means to be a guru. He took care of me when I was sick, cared about the food I ate as well as my overall state while in attendance at the school. Even two years later he checks in with me and my practice. I know I can come to him with any questions I may have at any time. I am looking forward to traveling back to Rishikesh to study with him so I can continue to grow as a yoga student and teacher. Krishna does not ask you to adhere to any dogma or carry any ego about his work. He is there to be your teacher and only asks you to be the student.
Krishna was an amazing teacher, the best part about my studies in India. I cannot say enough good things about him. He perfectly embodies Yoga, and practitioners at every level can learn a lot from him. Hope to go back and see him soon!
It's been three years since my visit to India, and I can still vividly remember my amazing experience studying yoga in Rishikesh with my dear teacher Krishna. Krishna embodies the perfect balance between discipline and compassion, and his guidance comes from a place of sincerity and authenticity. He is giving and selfless, and he takes time to focus on each student individually. Even outside of class, Krishna makes time to get to know his students, and one of my fondest memories was when he took time out of his busy day to show me how to make proper Indian chai! Delicious! I highly recommend studying with Krishna!
I love My teacher Krishna! I also love the time and the place, I have been learning Yoga :) He is a great teacher. He always tries to answer our questions about yoga philosophy, physiology, asana and even psychology. As a yoga beginner, I have been struggling with some part of yoga philosophy, but while I have been studying with him, I started to understand little by little. Thank you, Krishna!
" Yoga is the process of moving from the skin to the soul." -Krishna Sikhwall Yoga and meditation are two things I had been looking for seemingly my whole life, yet didn't know where to find them. Studying in Rishikesh, and doing my 300 hour teacher training with Krishna was one of the best decisions I've made. It brought me closer to myself and from that closer to those around me and the world at large. Krishna is good man and he knows the practice of yoga. Throughout class he'll recite verses of the Bhagavad Gita while also maintaining an air of simplicity. He won't teach what he doesn't know and doesn't try to be more than he is. He's a man who's committed to teaching yoga, he's a father, a husband, he's a kind man. If you're looking to study yoga you'll make a good choice in coming here and studying with Krishna. During January and February of 2016 I was fortunate enough to study under Krishna during a 300 hour advanced YTT in Rishikesh. This was undoubtedly the best decision I made, as the six weeks spent under Krishna's guidance, learning from someone whose knowledge of yoga as a practice and lifestyle, were amazing. What I appreciated most about Krishna as a teacher, is his ability to contextualize yoga in the modern world, while still educating his students about this ancient practice's roots. He is humble and reserved, but holds space like no other teacher I have encountered in my years of practice. I would recommend Samatva Yogalaya to anyone looking to deepen his/her practice, teaching capabilities, and do so in a safe and welcoming environment where personal growth is paramount. I hope to be back soon to visit Krishna and his new set of students!
"Having been taught by my dear guru Krishna,my life changed from the way I walk, talk, think and breath. He is a strong teacher with such respect for all his students. As a female student I felt very comfortable practicing in his presence and respected him entirely as he is very disciplined in his practice on and off the mat. His teachings have stuck with me and I still feel like I have a little Krishna sitting on my shoulder saying; "Don't just do the pose,do something in it". My knowledge I gained about yoga and life started with him. He has a good sense of humor and is a very respected man,not just from his students, but also the community. Your life will gain new meaning after meeting and being taught by Krishna. He is the real deal!"
In 2014 I had the great fortune to study and be taught by my yoga teacher and great friend Krishna. A truly dedicated practitioner and teacher of yoga, Krishna has a unique and genuine way of teaching the true essence, science and philosophy of Yoga. Not only has he an incredible in depth understanding of yoga asanas, but he generously shares his own understandings of life and how to conduct oneself as a happy healthy human being. I learnt so many wonderful things during my 300hr TTC and I owe it to Krishna who has helped me to become a fully qualified and able Yoga teacher. The great thing about study with Krishna is that he accepts you as part of his family, immediately, and is always there willing to help many years on from when you first finished your course. If you have the opportunity and are looking for a genuine YTTC in India, you have arrived at the right place - Samatva Yogalaya. Thank you Krishna "
I wish there was a way I could give this more than a 5 star rating. I completed my 300hr YTT with Krishna as my instructor back in 2013, and words can't adequately explain the experience he blessed me with. Krishna has this unexplainable kindness and nurturing energy. I look back on my months of training, at only 19 years of age, and my mind goes immediately to him and his incredible ability to listen, teach, love and nurture. After I completed my training with Krishna, I wen't onto study Kinesiology at University, as during my time in India, he fostered my love for human anatomy and urged me to follow that once unknown passion of mine. I still to this day (3 years later) keep in touch with Krishna regularly, and can safely say his teachings are something that will stay with me forever.
No review I write could ever give Krishnaji enough praise! It is an honor to know and to learn from him! I still carry his words and wisdom with me in what ever I do! You will not regret your time or experience at Samatva Yogalaya. Krishnaji, I give you five stars and more because you mean the world to me!
I took a 300h Teacher Training in 2015 with Krishna ji. He was the best teacher we could ask for. Not only in Asanas and Alignment but also in philosophy on and off the mat. The part of the philosophy is so interesting and a big part on the yoga way. He also teaches awareness in the asanas not only for the body but also for the mind. Awareness on the whole body, active work with the whole body and the awareness on the breath. “Don’t forget about your feet when you align your spine… and do something”. The Meditation and Mantra singing with him was extremely fine, I miss his voice and the beautiful mantras we sang together and especially the one he sang for us. All together it was one of the best decisions to take this course there. It´s life changing and I really hope I can come back again to visit him and learn a lot more from Krishna Ji. For everybody who wants to go to india to study yoga, Krishna is highly recommended because he not just teaches he lives yoga... "
You know when you are accepted and treated as a family member - you are in the right place with the right people. It was my pleasure and honor to be accepted into Krishna ji's Yoga Family this summer during 300TTC in Rishikesh. Deeply devoted to Yoga practice and his students, Krishna ji is a great yogi, great teacher and amazingly caring human being. Taking responsibility of sharing the sacred knowledge to a high standard level. he shares with his students all that he knows with all his heart. When I connected with his style of teaching and fundamental outlook on life, I knew - I found teacher for life to continue my yogic journey with. Highly recommend to find your way to Rishikesh to his school! Always with gratitude.... Anna Martin
After taking my 300hr TTC with Krishna, I highly recommend anyone who is interested in his courses to take them. He is very thorough with his Asana classes and gives individual attention to all students to improve themselves. My favorite class during our training was Yoga Philosophy where we were taught the foundation of Yoga through classical texts. My experience in Rishikesh is irreplaceable and I look forward to attending more of his trainings at Samatva Yogalaya
"krishnaji one of the most amazing intelligent and profound teacher i have ever come across in my life . a teacher with complete knowledge and the one who teaches yoga in its purest and correct form. not only a yoga teacher but a perfectionist and a disciplinary who imaparts selflessly to all his students.i feel lucky and blessed as i have been with him in 300 hr ttc and the way he has taught us i can feel it once i have started teaching back home and i am being appreciated a lot by people. the well versed and profound teacher krishna ji has taught me so many small aspects of how one should be and how a nice yoga teacher should be , knowingly and unknowingly he has changed so many small things in me for good and giving me a perfect guideline in my yogic journey.. it is an opportunity to be with him him thank u so much krishnaji for everything. and he imaprts what he has selflessly and thats the best thing about him . the definition pf simplicity for whom yoga is the way of life is my guru krishnaji thanks a lot for everything"
"Bhagavad Gita chapter six: For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy. The most precious gift that my teacher Krishna offered me was his humble presence which inspired to observe - seeing is attention. Yoga and meditation are no means to an end. There is no end to be gained. Yoga (meditation) is a constant flowering. Not away from life but in life. Being yogi is to perform your duty, here - at that morning, in that deep silence. When you master yourself in stillness there will be a movement which the meditative mind can only understand. The thoughts will only trace their patterns. Thank you Krishna for teaching me the art of listening and simplicity. Thank you for your modest presence. Thank you for being my teacher but mostly thank you for being my friend. No matter how far away"
I had the pleasure of being accepted into the yoga family of Krishna Ji at the end of 2014 during the 300-hour yoga teacher training. It has changed my life forever. Krishna is infinitely kind, knowledgeable, disciplined, and secretly very funny. He's also an amazing cook! He teaches yoga in its purest form. Under his guidance, I discovered that I am stronger (in body and mind) than I ever thought I could be. I can't wait to return to Rishikesh in 2017 to continue my education with him. Much love!
I met with Krishna at the end of 2015. I did a 300 hours training with him. He is a dedicated and serious yogi and teacher. I miss every moment in his class. Not only in the class, he teaches you also outside the class with his teachings. He is a master in Yoga Philosophy and in Asana or Meditation classes, you can hear sutras and explainations from him about what you are doing there. His famous saying is, "Do Something!" which i remember in my life when i feel i don't do anything. Then i get up and do something. Krishna is a very disciplined teacher. I always thank him in my heart and soul for his teachings he shared with me. If you are looking for a serious yoga training, he is the one you should learn from. And i wish him and the Samatva Yogalaya team all the best, i know they will do their best and bring Rishikesh a new soul. Namaste

May 10,2017Krishna was my teacher for 300hr YTT. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! His ethics, values and professionalism were always present throughout his teachings of both asana and philosophy. The in depth pranayama and kriya practice we learned with discipline through asana have been integrated in my daily practice back in Canada. This course, or any course he teaches, is invaluable and I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Krishna!
