Purchased Jaguar 2015df Overlocker from Sew Creative. Staff 100% Delivery 100% Machine 100% Customer Service 100% My own personal experience with Sew Creative. Tina
This business has provided me with such inspiration and motivation I could not be happier! I first visited the shop to upgrade my sewing machine and nothing could have been too much trouble for them. I then renewed my interest in all things dressmaking thanks to their extremely helpful advice and nurturing attitudes. Lastly, I have embarked on quilting for the first time ever, again, with their encouragement and have discovered a new skill I did not know I possessed! The help offered to any customer is amazing....whether it be a button or a top of the range sewing machine the staff are only too pleased to help and offer knowledgeable and helpful advice. I cannot recommend this business more highly.
Sew Creative in Petersfield is not just a wonderful fabric and craft shop, it's a creative and community hub. Having seen the earlier review I felt I really needed to post mine! I moved to the Petersfield area just over a year ago and I can honestly say that it's been a huge contributor to me settling in, having loads of creative fun and learning new skills. The range of fabrics is wonderful - it feels like you're in an amazing sweetie shop full of delights, and Jo updates them so regularly it's hard to keep up with the new arrivals! Of course, I could get some cheaper on the internet, but then I wouldn't get the staff spending an hour or more helping me to choose fabric combinations, giving advice on the best types of fabric for different uses, helping out with advice and tips, and generally sharing my enthusiasm for whatever project I'm involved in. That's worth paying a very small amount extra in comparison to internet prices. What impressed me when I first walked into the shop, along with the array of fabric, haberdashery and kits, was that you are made to feel very welcome even as a first time visitor. It was clear that some people were regulars and experienced at sewing and crafts (I'd say I'm intermediate). But it didn't feel like a 'closed shop' where you have to be part of the inner circle, as I've sometimes felt in those situations. I was warmly welcomed and encouraged, without being put under any pressure to buy. In fact, I probably go in to the shop and get free advice and ideas as many times as I actually buy anything. Again, that's worth a huge amount and is certainly something you don't get on internet shopping or in some other fabric shops. Having observed the staff at work on many occasions (often when I drop in to the 'sew social' sessions which are free of charge and you can bring your own hand sewing/craft project to work on), I notice their enthusiasm and warmth, but no pressure to buy, book on courses or anything else. One day, someone came in because they weren't sure how to put scout badges onto a uniform. The staff didn't try to sell them something, but invited them in, and, along with a couple of us customers, helped them with how to sew on a badge - no charge! They went out with badges attached and feeling great that they'd learnt a new skill. Since I found the shop I've made my first quilt (almost), along with loads of other things like pyjamas, a top, a tea cosy, a roman blind and lots of crafty things. Most of the materials I've bought from the shop, but there has been no pressure to do so and I've used things that I've bought elsewhere too. If you are looking for fabulous fabrics and other sewing/craft stuff, advice and support, enthusiasm, a welcoming atmosphere and great service, look no further!
I went into this shop after seeing they had won a local award but to be honest it was a disappointment. I have lived in the area for many many years and this shop winning retailer of the year is rather absurd to be honest but seeing as it is based on votes then I am guessing they just pushed it using social media and got more votes than shops that have been on the highstreet much longer but dont use social media. Anyway, I went in and I really didn't find it very welcoming, I had such high hopes too! The fabric was vastly overpriced and I was only looking at buying fabric but the staff were pushy and tried to show me all of the craft workshops they do. I said I wasn't really interested but they persisted and tried to show me around. I think it's great places do these crafty little workshop things but I found it overpriced for what it was. Though I can't comment on the workshops because I didn't book on one, I could say that the staff were pushy and that it all seemed very crafty and the staff not very knowledgeable on their fabrics when I asked about them and explained what my project was. I did come away with some overpriced fabric.. which I later found half the price elsewhere. I wont be going there again. Sorry but extremely disappointed.
