Ambiguous. That's how we felt. We've rent 3 apartments (No. 10,15,16) What we liked: The apartments were amazingly beautiful, and very well prepared and organized, with everything a family could need, thinking about the smallest details such as Tennis rackets, Netflix on the TV for the kids, fresh milk in the refrigerator etc. The location on the Loch was beautiful. The area itself is beautiful. What we didn't like: so.. if everything is so good.. why only 4 stars? When we were looking outside the living room, and the guest rooms, we found ourselves looking at .. a cemetery.. a grave yard. OMG. That was a deal breaker for us. In the ads that was never mentioned. On the first night my young daughter was afraid to go to sleep with that cemetery outside her room window. That was a huge turn off. Furthermore, one should pay attention to the fact that the apartments are part of a complex that was abbey. The filling was a bit spooky.
Beautiful property, great location, great facilities, very attentive. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back next time in the area.
We had an enjoyable time at Highland Club Fort Augustus, it was very nice. Our appartment was very nice, it was fantastic. The personal is fun and the site (abbey with Loch ness) is fabulous. It was the best "hotel-residence" I rent of my life.
This place is absolutely fantastic! Fort Augustsus is a great base to explore the Highlands. The apartment was really perfect for our family of five. Very comfortable and well-appointed. The activities on the grounds were huge hits with our kids. The location on Loch Ness was breathtaking.
The apartment we stayed in was so comfortable and spacious, and the location right on the Loch can’t be beat. We were given a very friendly welcome and tour of the property and enjoyed the welcome snacks. Our property contact even made dinner reservations for us as we checked in on the later side and he wanted to be sure we had a good meal. The amenities of the Highland Club are great; my family enjoyed the badminton and clubhouse room with the snooker table. We would absolutely book here again.
What a truly amazing place on the Loch. Central locale yet you fell remote. Gorgeous rooms and views. Great restaurant just a quick walk down the path. And a truly warm and inviting staff that set us up for such a lovely visit then left us alone which was perfect for us. Only comment is that there is no lift so make sure to ask for a room downstairs if stairs are a hurdle.
Great place to stay. Apartment had everything we could possible need or want to make our stay relaxing. The grounds are stunning and sit right on Loch Ness with the boat trips on the door step. The kids loved the pool and all the other games in the great room. Had a laugh trying to play ping pong too 😜 very relaxing. Will stay longer next time to take in some of the beautiful places around it.
My Husband and I stayed at the Highland club for three nights and they were our favorite three nights of our whole trip. We adored the entire area and the beauty and history of St. Benedicts. Knowing how family friendly Fort Augustus we are looking forward to returning in the near future with our children and staying with The Highland Club again.
Great option for a family stay in Inverness. The rooms in the converted Abbey are really something special in terms of design, layout and how they fit in the old building. Only comment is no lifts so may need to be on lower floor if you have mobility issues
We stayed in the penthouse apartment. It was beautiful and the view...amazing. Everything was lovely. I highly recommend staying at the Highland Club.
We had a great stay. All of the staff were very helpful and flexible with our arrival time and showing us around the club. Our bathroom toilet needed a new part and they fixed it immediately. The room was extremely well appointed, especially the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed including some basic food. Our only discovery we'd like to share is that the Club on the website looks to have a resort/ hotel type feel - when in reality when you get there it's more of an apartment complex. Very Modern even a bit sterile in the hallways and public spaces. A slight difference, not what we expected.
Exellent. relaxing stay over Chritmas. The apartment ,building and the surronding area are outstanding. The staff is very helpful.Highly recomended and defenately will go back,
We stayed for 3 days at the Highland Club. The staff who met us at the club were super helpful and relaxed. We enjoyed our time visiting all the wonderful attractions in the area. If you are a history buff or just love the outdoors then this is a great location to visit.
Fantastic apartment. Fantastic service. We had an issue with a bath tap which was responded to very promptly. Fantastic setting. I'll be back!
The apartments are tremendous and fully equipped with everything that you need. The building is stunning as are the grounds and the wee swimming pool is great for the kids. Furthermore Julie could not have been more helpful on check in. The only negatives are that the restaurant is not great and the atmosphere is just a bit weird given it’s not just holiday apartments and nothing like a hotel. Would definitely stay again
PRO: Out of all the places we stayed at in Scotland, The Highland Club was by far the best one. We had everything we needed during our stay. The welcome goodies was great - cereals, sweets, jams, water, milk. We were able to use the oil and condiments they have provided. We bought ingredients and meat at a grocery store nearby (walking distance) and cooked our own meal, mostly for dinner. The apartment we stayed at has a 2 in 1 washer / dryer. A printer was also available for us to use. Our explorer passes got wet from the rain, thank goodness for the printer, we were able to print them again. WiFi was very fast. The living room was very cozy and we had nice view of the abbey. Faux fur throws were also available for us to use when watching tv. The two bedrooms were clean and comfortable. There is ample space for the luggages. Bath robes were provided. There is abundant water and water doesn’t take time to get hot. There is a mat beside the door that is provided for wet boots / muddy shoes. Gordon is very friendly and helped us carry some of our stuffs. CON - the only downside is that the abbey doesn’t have a lift / elevator. We had a hard time carrying our luggage. But if you don’t mind the stairs then it shouldn’t be a problem.
We truly loved our stay at the Highland Club but 2 limitations force me to give it 4 stars instead of 5. 1) We placed the "tidy up" sign on our doorknob (hoping for fresh towels) and when we returned the sign was laying on the heater and no towels had been left. 2) Pool hours are very limited so we didn't get the chance to use it while we were there but would have loved to have the chance!
We stayed in many places when we visited Scotland this is by far the best place we stayed it was truly a wonderful experience. Also the restaurant that is Within walking distance was super highly recommend a great place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at the Highland Club very much. The apartment was sparkling clean and the welcome package with wine, milk, cereals and snacks was much appreciated. We had an apartment with a terrace with a view out to Loch Ness. The apartment was nicely decorated and the kitchen well equipped. The washer/dryer was one unit and right in the kitchen. We did have a scheduling problem (on our end) with checking in, since we had afternoon tickets to the Jacobite Express. It would be best to book your train tickets for the morning or for an afternoon after you have checked in at the Highland Club. We were not able to take advantage of the pool or other activities since we were on the go all the time. The little town of Fort Augustus was so cute and just a few steps away. The apartment has many fire doors inside separating the rooms, this must have been a requirement for the building code in renovating the Abbey. It takes a little getting used to, but it was fine after a day or two. The unit was so spacious and having 2 bathrooms was a bonus for a family of 4 adults.

Aug 08,2019Incredible experience! We cannot speak more highly about this property. It is located on the most beautiful property of south Loch Ness. The grounds and Abbey are incredible beautiful. The Boathouse restaurant is quaint with excellent and very convenient in that it is close to the property. The apartments are immaculate- white tiled bathrooms that are spotless. There was a care package left for us with goodies that were much appreciated. Many things to do at the Abbey including tennis, archery, swimming and visiting the Loch. A definite must stay for those visiting Loch Ness/ Fort Augustus
