Feb 13,2025We visited Thistle’s showroom in Bridge of Don to look at their front door range. We were made to feel welcome from their friendly staff and proceed with an order for a new front door. Thistle don’t rely on contractors for installation and have their own installers. Their employee that carry out the installation done a very good job installing our new front door in difficult weather conditions. We are really happy with the door installation and service in general from Thistle.

Jan 25,2025I chose Thistle for my replacement patio doors as I had been very pleased with my previous experience when they replaced all my windows around 12 years ago. Their high quality of workmanship and first class service has absolutely been maintained. From the moment I walked into their showroom to enquire about the patio doors right through to completion of the work I felt genuinely valued as a customer and the turnaround time from ordering to installation was actually a bit quicker than anticipated. Amber kept me well informed in advance of installation and the guys that came to do the work were excellent - a very neat job, no mess left behind and they ensured I was satisfied with everything before leaving. I didn’t know before I went to see them that I would receive a returning customer discount which demonstrates the value they place on customer loyalty. And as an added bonus, they replaced a handle I had recently broken on one of my windows free of charge - it was outside the 10 year guarantee period so they were under no obligation to do that. It might seem like a little thing but it just further demonstrates the value they place on customer relationships. Delighted with my new patio doors - I won’t hesitate to use them again or to recommend them.

Jan 22,2025Thistle are professional and helpful from start to finish, supplied and fitted replacement patio and balcony doors and double glazed windows to replace 40 year old units. Completed to the agreed schedule and budget (actually ahead of schedule). Turned up on time on and very respectful of our property taking great care around the home. They politely answered the many questions we had as the installation progressed. Very pleased with the final result and consider it money well spent!

Jan 18,2025Paid over 10k for 5 windows to be replaced I can’t comment on the quality of the work as only just been completed…but I would not recommend this company my wife who is pregnant as well as having a disabled son.my wife takes home security very seriously and has cameras in the house to watch our disabled son while I was away in the USA thistle windows attended our property to replace windows on arrival all cameras was turned of or blocked with out my wife’s consent my wife would of turned of the cameras if she was asked to do so . she only asked why you turn of my cameras the joiner became aggressive and said he didn’t want to be put on the internet or watched I reported this to thistle windows who ignored my wife’s concerns about being alone with a disabled child she was told if you don’t turn of the cameras nobody will come back and Finnish the work..i can not recommend thistle windows for poor Communication and very rude and aggressive employees

Oct 31,2024Thistle? More like Thorn in my side. Worst building experience of my life. Every single aspect of the build had errors, all of which had to be corrected multiple times resulting in arguments, being shouted at by staff and threats of court action. Very poor attention to detail, shoddy workmanship and delay after delay resulting in a remarkably poor experience that was also very expensive. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Seriously, if you read their review pre-2020 they are fine, the majority after this are an absolute disaster. I can't stress this enough, DO NOT LET THISTLE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR PROPERTY.

Aug 12,2024Worst company I have ever dealt with. “Project manager” laughed when giving unreasonable timelines that could not be challenged. Tried to charge for extra doors when not needed. They get as much money from you up front so you can’t go anywhere else. Had to come back three times as the work was not up to standard. Whole project took more than a year to complete as they always had other “priority” work to do before ours despite paying over the odds which we would normally assume would guarantee some quality and attention.

Aug 11,2024Asked for a quote to supply some wall panels. (No fitting or other parts required). Was quoted £2400. I got them from somewhere else local for £1200. How on earth can they justify this quote?? Can’t begin to imagine how over inflated the quote would be had they actually done the bathroom for us.

Mar 08,2024Google Maps allowed us to post on their review site our review and 20 photos of our very negative experience with Thistle Windows and Conservatories regarding workmanship and management attitude towards the same on our sun room build. Viewings of our photos have to date reached well over 2,000. The photos are from our album which MD informed us that he saw nothing wrong with quality of workmanship displayed throughout our build in the album and, of course, that we had an over expectation of the quality of the workmanship yet it seems to us that they cannot be held accountable.

Aug 03,2023We had our bathroom totally replaced by Thistle and expected a service that equalled the hefty price tag. What we got was stress & chaos with a useless and dishonest project manager. Dreadful communication. A joiners work ripped out after 2 days working, same joiner back a few days later to complete a days work that was also ripped out!! Our story is too long to relate here. Initial offer of compensation was £25. After complaining to the directors - we received an apology and a ‘good will gesture’ of 2.3% off our bill, not ‘compensation’. Is this a reflection of how sorry they really were?? Our single star is to recognise the fact that we did indeed get a nice bathroom after 13 weeks!

Jun 18,2023As a returning customer, requesting a new quote, thistle stated they would be using another company to carry out part of my works. Their quote added 150% to the price I actually paid to said company to carry out these works, for what would have been a few phone calls worth of work from their end. Entire project quoted at 250% more than what it actually ended up costing me using other local reputable companies. Raised my frustrations and was accused of insulting their reputation, but with no answers on why they felt quotes were acceptable. 10 year guarantee pushed can change to 12 months, so latent failures due to poor workmanship are a concern. From a previous job, after being told by members of thistle staff my issues were a installation error, was informed it was myself that was at fault when trying to claim. Took 2 years to get to that point so just gave up. Whoever was at fault (I'm not qualified to make this call) it was handled poorly. Just hope the rest of my build is trouble free now knowing what their guarantee actually covers

May 07,2022After taking 4 months to complete my mums conservatory, on the day of completion they sent someone round to collect payment. What next. The heavy mob. Countless leaks and poor project management. Still leaking which they will not acknowledge

Feb 14,2025Highly recommend Thistle Home Improvements. I gave them a really challenging project and they were outstanding. The standard of workmanship, service and aftercare far exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend them and I will definitely use them again.
