Great service. The whispers didn't work to well but the guides overcome that

My husband and I have nothing but praise for this organization. From the time we received our documents and booklets, we felt well-prepared and pampered. On boarding, and even before at the Budapest airport, the on-board personnel were at all times and in all ways courteous and attentive. We felt valued from beginning to debarkation in Amsterdam. I can't really say enough good things about our fascinating cruise through central Europe and since we are experienced travelers we were expecting some hiccups along the way, but there were none. Perfection!

The Rhine was our fifth AMA cruise and it was the best of the best. Everything on this new ship was just a bit better, if things could really be any better. Once again the superb dining we have come to experience was just a notch better. As always the staff from Captain, to Cruise Director, Dragon, to Chef Gino, waiter Daniel, the room and operations staffs were all exceptional, friendly, always smiling, and most helpful. A great way to see the Rhine and learn about the history of the many beautiful cities...Lucerne was a fantastic extension!

Since our trip in May of 2016 , I have shared our excellent experience on AMA waterways with over 20 of our friends and family. Your staff was polite ,friendly and always anticipated our needs .The food was incredibly prepared with such detail , presentation and flavor. The special dinner reserved dinner at the back of the ship was excellent. Thank you for including this special opportunity for the passengers to meet the chef and the waiters in a very small intimate atmosphere. The excursions on land were filled with fun, adventure and entertainment. Local guides were friendly and such historians. At the same time,we often felt we were a part of guide's family. They wanted us to enjoy the sites and know about the best local places to eat and shop. The only exception was our first day altered bus route excursions in Budapest. The passengers were so much more flexible and understanding than the local guides. In the big picture, our cruise director Peter had honestly prepared us for the changes that occurred in Budapest , he was always on site and tried beyond our expectations to smooth out the wrinkles of the excursion. The passengers were always first in his eyes and did we all appreciate his thoughtfulness, wit, knowledge and people friendly skills. AMA is certainly a cruise line that we will use again and continue to recommend. I am a fabric and water color artist . I look forward to inquiring about art excursions as well as trips to Barcelona and Italy. Happy Sailing AMA ! You exceptionaly shined in our Virginian eyes with radiance and grace during our trip down the gently flowing Danube river .

We loved our cabin with the first night champagne and everyday fruit bowl The entire staff was terrific and of course, Nikola Grujin was the best in comparing him to all our other cruise managers on the ocean cruise ships.. I think if we were in deep water, with the boat sinking, he would save us all and have us enjoying the adventure. Excellent food - fabulous service - a great choice of day trips. We just had a great time.

The personnel on the ship is what really made the difference, from the cruise director, the restaurant personnel, the captain and the linesmen on the ship......all were absolutely outstanding!

We spent four days visiting Zurich and lake Luzern by bus and boat with excellent guides! We arrived at Bezel for embakation on the AMA Certo. From here we received a VIP treatment that lasted to the end of the cruise! The cruise Mgr made the whole trip very enjoyable and safe(we are senior citizens). During the walk tours off the boat, guides were very patient with us usually dividing fast and slow walkers. I recommend this cruise to any one who appreciates high class treatment!

This was our third+ river cruise and the second with AMA the first was with Uniworld. Both the AMA cruises surpass the Uniworld experience the food on AMA the first cruise was just as good as the second and far superior to the Uniworld cruise. The amenities of this last AMA cruise were only slightly better than the first AMA cruise and again superior to the Omniworld. The tours are incredible and well done and we also did the before add on with 2 nights in Zurich and 2 nights in Lucerne Switzerland and the hotels were 5 stars way better than the first AMA cruise. All we can say is they are getting even better that's a fine direction we will come back to AMA.

We had a great time and the crew could not have been better. However one cigarette and one cigar smoker sat right in the middle of the outside space which made it impossible to enjoy any part of the deck area. The water was high and most of the upper deck was closed but even at that smoking in that confined of space made it very miserable.

This was our first river cruise and I told out travel agent that I simply could not find one thing to complain about! We had done a couple of ocean cruises years ago, kind of avoided this bit, but had heard good things about the river cruises, and Ama in particular. Ship: This is a new ship in 2016 and the decor is upscale and comfortable. Plenty of upper deck space with comfortable furniture, large inside lounge with plenty of space, and two dining rooms (regular and a small specialty room that you can reserve at no extra charge. They have two really upscale coffee machines so you could do coffee or tea anytime. Food: The cuisine was way better than I expected it to be. For breakfast I can;' think of anything they don't have... smoked salmon, omelets, eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, fruit, cereals, and a cold smoothie that was different everyday. They have one person who only bakes during the night, so all the baked good were tasty and fresh. Lunches included a buffet (salads, etc.) as well as a menu to order an entree, soup (the cream soups were divine), etc. Dinners were very pleasant with plenty to choose from. Wine and beer are free with lunch and dinner and poured generously. Desserts were great and they always have three flavors of ice cream to choose from as well. The specialty restaurant seats like 26 people, is located at the upper rear of the ship and delivered a great multi-course meal in a very pleasant space. You simply sign up for the night you'd like to go as the desk (no extra charge). There are snacks available anytime plus a tea in the afternoon, late nights snacks about 10:30, etc. Service: is impeccable from the cabin attendants, to the bar and restaurant staff, and the front desk/bursar. First class personnel with very good fluency in English. Tours: are all included; there are no extra charges and more than one choice each day. On this Rhine cruise, it looks like all the lines go to the same places pretty much. We loved Strasbourg, Cologne, and Heidelberg. The stops in smaller townswere pleasant as well; the guides and coach drivers were all very professional. Cost: Our one-week cruise was about $4,000 each ($575/day). The only extras were drinks in the bar, spa, gift shop, and laundry (we did laundry once and it was very reasonable as are the bar prices). This market has skyrocketed so there are many lines to choose from. We would go straight back to Ama if we do another one... and likely will. If you use a travel agent, try the get prepaid gratuities included so you don't have to foll with than on board. We did travel insurance on our own separately. Entertainment: was a nice mix of a very good female vocalist one evening, a really good accordion/female vocalist duo (I know that sounds weird but they were excellent), and a trio comprised of two violins and a guitar-- also really good. Every night one of the staff played dance music and a good group of folks would come each night for that. Conclusion: All the river ships are basically the same size because of the locks, so have about 150+ passengers and 50 crew. We really liked that it was so easy to meet fellow passengers and the vibe among all of the folks on board (passengers + staff) was most pleasant. I was a bit concerned that I'd get bored, but that was not the case at all. There was plenty to choose from each day, or you could do your own thing in the stops, including stay on the ship for the day. We had a wonderful week and hope do go on another sooner than later

I have taken 4 river cruises with AMA and am already signed up for another one. Each one has been special and memorable. I love the intimate experience of a small boat with relatively few passengers, outstanding food, AMA's attention to detail, and their first rate service. Most ports are small, charming, and quaint, and the scenery between ports is always beautiful.

Nothing like a big Cruise Ship... and, depending on the weather, is not reliable... in fact, we had so much rain, the river ran high, and we were stuck in Strasbourg France. Not too bad, meals were good, and bus service to our tours continued. We then were bussed to Basel on the appointed day.

The staff and crew were all excellent. The room was very nice. We were disappointed in the dinners for an award winning chef. The outside areas were not made inviting. The common area was not that comfortable. Not enough included excursions.

We had the best experience with AMAWaterways that you could wish for. Our cruise director was the best in the business. Even with river flooding we were able to see all the locations that were advertised. There had to be a number of work arounds but with the hard work of the cruise director and captain along with the home office all the problems posed by the rain and flooded river was worked out.

Every aspect of the trip surpassed our expectations: the itinerary, the excursions, the boat facilities, the excellent service, the food... We were especially impressed by how the Cruise Director, Dejan, and the Amaprima Captain creatively solved the many problems presented by high river waters while maintaining itinerary and schedule. If we can make a suggestion for change in itinerary, it would be to skip one or two of the stops in small towns along the Main and spend an extra day in Vienna.

We traveled in May on the AmaDante - Europes Rivers & Castles cruise from Paris to Prague. The staff, food, guides, excursions for the entire trip could not have been better. Ama staff met us at the airport in Paris and from there until to went through the security check point at the airport in Prague to leave - someone from Ama was with us at every point at the airports just in case a problem came up. Nothing did, but it was great to have someone who spoke the local language just in case. Per and post cruise (Paris and Prague) were great. At times we were on our own and at times we were on planned excursions. But whatever we were doing Ama staff were there to help. On the AmaDante Staff - super friendly, always smiling, couldn't do enough for you, yet they were not hovering over us - but seem to magically appear when you needed something. Food - I can't say enough about the food. The wait staff learned very quickly what you liked and didn't like and by the second day were bringing you what wanted before you even asked – amazing! I was also quite surprised at all the vegan and gluten free options there were at every meal. If you are vegan or gluten free you won't feel like you are missing out on great food. They looked so good I had some myself. Excursions – It was impossible to go on all of them. On one day I counted 7 different off boat excursions going every which way. But there were also people who just enjoyed staying on the boat for the cruise to the next stop while the excursions were off to castle, wine tasting or visiting a small village. I believe we could turn right around and take the same cruise again and have a very different experience just doing all the things we didn't have time for on our cruise. Entertainment – Something different every evening. I especially liked the historian that came on board for a lecture and the glass blowing demonstration was fascinating! Not to mention the musical entertainers who came aboard. And I especially loved that it was almost all inclusive. There were a couple of excursions that had a small extra charge, and there was a charge for drinks from the bar, but for the most part all the food, beer, wine, coffee, soda, etc. you could drink were included. And when we left the ship I was shocked at how little extra we had spent on the trip. On other cruises it was the other way around in that I had been shocked at how much extra we HAD spent (and were billed for). Other cruise lines seem to nickel and dime you at every turn and it adds up very quickly – but not on an AMA cruise. Well – what else can I say other than we are already planning our next AmaWaterways cruise. Will it be the south of France? A cruise down the Danube? Perhaps Spain or the Douro? Whatever we pick I know we’ll have a great time.

In a crowded open seating environment Katrina blocked us from seating on a table she was reserving for some other guests, consequently she ruined our dinner and possibly the trip. Overall me and my wife were very please with everything else during the trip.
