I decided to use Clever before the lawsuit that is now enabling realtor commission to be negotiated. At that time, selling my home through Clever was the only way I knew of to reduce the commission I had to pay. Kudos #1 to Clever for pre-negotiating the reduced commission. The recommended realtor that we selected was very proactive in reaching out to me. Kudos #1 to the realtor. Clever representative reached out to let me know that Clever stands behind their services and would be a second channel of help, besides our realtor. Kudos #2 to Clever. The timing at which we put our house on the market was not great; the sky-high mortgage rate put a damper on the sale. The realtor seemed initially unprepared for such a market condition and the only strategy was to keep urging us to lower the price, even though the market price was generally high. We felt then that the realtor was more interested in making a quick sale than to help us get the best and appropriate price for the house. Clever representative helped me communicate to the realtor that we are not interested in giving deep and unrealistic discount because our house was priced in the correct range. Clever representative also called me every few weeks to follow up and check if there was anything else she could do. Kudos #3 to Clever. After getting over the initial discomfort of the almost-dead housing market, the realtor got more creative and suggested other strategies, such as digital staging. She also continued to market the house despite high buyers’ hesitation due to the high mortgage rate. Kudos #2 to the realtor. Even though it took longer than expected for us to sell our home, I believe it was a market condition that was beyond the realtor or our control. I appreciate how the realtor eased up on the pressure to lower the sale price. We ended up with a very good working relationship as we waited the market out. Kudos #3 to the realtor. All in all, a pretty good experience and I would definitely recommend Clever because I believe the realtors on Clever’s roster, willing to work for less commission, are not just in it for the money.
