I am a Currensea user. It's a good card, but its drawback is that it can only be linked to bank accounts and cannot be linked to credit cards. Many UK credit cards charge foreign transaction fees, which is very frustrating. I hope one day it can be linked to credit cards.
Have used in two different countries now. No problems quick and convenient to use.
Money comes straight from my current account with no overseas transaction fees what's not to love. You get almost instant alerts to tell you there's been a transaction and what the exchange rate is. So far only used in Europe hope to go further afield soon.
Monde, from Currensea team has been superb in dealing with a recent transaction query I raised (duplication). The response was swift and clear concise action plan was successfully carried through. A credit to have customer service people like this within the team. Thank you Monde.
*** Don't rely on the card working when you go abroad. Went to Belgium for New Year and the card would not work using Chip and Pin or at ATMs. Was very frustrating and embarrassing when trying to pay for our Hotel with a large queue of people with me. Emailed Currensea whilst in Belgium, explaining I had tried to use chip and pin machine and tried to withdraw money from ATM. Currensea customer service suggested that it was in fact my fault, that I had blocked my CVV number... by entering the number incorrectly too many times??? I don't ever enter the CVV number or expiry dates when using chip and pin so still no idea why/how this is my fault?? I've kept the emails I received from customer service which made me furious!. Completely unacceptable blaming me for something I have absolutely no control over.. I was back from holiday by the time they emailed me any explanation/instruction. Didn't get this response from Carrie until 3rd January when I was back in the UK. Card declined on the 27th December. The card not working has cost us circa £50 in fees from our banks. The whole reason I applied for the card was to avoid these fees when abroad. Given my awful experience of using a Currensea card, i won't be using the service again *** AVOID ***
Quick, reliable and trustworthy.
So convenient and easy to use and saves money on transactions. This our fifth trip using the card over six currencies without any problems. Immediate online notification of each transaction allows you to keep track of expenditure and control of finances.
I have used my card in every country I have travelled to or transited through with no problems. They keep you notified of every transaction almost immediately. I cannot recommend them highly enough
I had a problem with getting the Currensea App on my Home Page and contacted them. Luyolokazi Xapa replied to me and was most helpful. Result? Currensea App on my Home Page as I wished. Thank you Luyo.
It just works, no fuss, no hassle, accepted just about everywhere, I never go abroad without it now, it saves carrying a load of cash & saves you money into the bargain.
Works well and much cheaper than using a credit card.
I have used my currensea card several times now in different countries around the world over the last 18 months (Including Thailand, Australia, USA, Spain, France, Turkey and Tunisia) and each transaction has worked great, whether in stores or getting cash from ATMs.
No problems on holiday with the card i am very happy
Easy and financially sound solution, irrespective of which country I am travelling to. Definitely recommend.
Easy payment method
Easy to use and lots of transaction information
Easy to use and accepted the same way if I were paying via my debit card, but without worrying about the banks additional charges and losing out on the exchange rate 👍
Brilliant instant banking sense transaction straight away and in pounds. I prefer to resolute as don’t need to keep transferring money which I find frustrating?
So easy to use. Being well informed when spending

Jan 17,2025We are a 60+ couple and have travelled a lot but are used to taking local currency with us, or occasionally using our credit card. This was our first time using our Currensea card abroad. It was recommended by a friend and we were dubious at first about giving access to our joint account details but so far it has worked really well. We get an email detailing every transaction and can set spend limits in the associated App. So far we have been really pleased with the results using it in Tenerife.
