We are a car rental company in Iceland. We offer anything from small, economical cars to big SUV's and motor home. We have offices both in Reykjavik and Keflavik.
A la restitution du véhicule il me dit vous avez rayez avec la brosse de nettoyage de la station de service résultat 1208 euro amende bande de sale fils de p je ne recommande pas c'est voleur
Total SCAM. Avoid. They have very shady business practises around scamming people for damages to vehicles and then charging you lots of money. They are absolute scum. I wish I have checked the reviews before.
I had really bad experience when I drop off the car. They charged me for a damage For which I had insurance and they refuse to refund me. And it was really a lot of money for the damage. Please don't rent a car with them, they seem cheap at first but then they are a lot more expensive than other!
We rented a van with them for a week- the 2-person one. The price was quite good, and the pick-up was straightforward, but we had problems from the start with the cooler motor and the heater- neither worked, so our food was not kept cold and we were not kept warm at night. Given that the nights were quite cold, we weren't worried about the food temperature, but we were quite cold at night on a few occasions. The WiFi didn't work most of the time and the connection cord was quite loose and had to be held in by hand. The USB port on the dash was broken so we couldn't charge our phone or other electronics. We tried phoning the company from the road, but the agent told us to "check our email" - they would have someone email us a response, which makes it hard if the WiFi isn't working. The van itself drove well and was comfortable, but when we got back to the office for drop-off, and the agent confirmed all these things were broken, he said he couldn't negotiate any refund, and asked us to email the company. We of course never heard back. I'd rent a van again if I were to travel in Iceland in the future, but not from this company. As an Addendum: The company contacted me the day after I posted the above review. I asked for a partial refund and they were very reasonable with me over the email and did not try to negotiate to a lower refund. Within a few days they had refunded me the agreed amount through my Visa account. This transaction did help me to see that they are motivated to improve their customer service, and although their product is sometimes not 100% they are willing to be flexible.
My sister and I rented a Renault Kangoo Campervan and we had lots if problems with it. First of all when we arrived at the office to pick up the car we were told, we had to pay another 200€ for an insurance or my credit card would be blocked with 3000€ - which was not an option because I didn't have that amount on my account. As we had already paid 100€ in advance we had no other choice but paying the additional cost. Secondly the woman who explained to us how to handle the various devices of the car was quite incompetent and didn't show or tell us important things we had to know. For that reason we had no well working heating system during 3 of the 5 nights. She didn't tell us that or how we had to turn off the fridge during the night so the battery would last. So around 3.30 am we had to call the 24h hotline to find out about that. But still when we left the light on for about one hour in the evening the following night or were charging electronic devices the battery didn't last either. On top of that the zipper of one of the sleeping bags was broken so it was even colder. Another issue was the broken heater of the back window pane, which made the sight a lot worse. The curtain of the back window was also broken so everyone could watch us inside the car during the night. We talked about these things to the woman in the office when we were returning the car and she told us to email them our complaints again and promised us a compensation of at least one day. Of course they never responded to my Email!
My brother and I had a great experience renting from Go Iceland. We rented a Dacia Duster, a 4x4 that allowed us to explore some of the inland roads including the road to incredible Landmannalaugar! The car was great and so was the customer service, not to mention the office is a short walk (or shuttle) from the airport! Hilmar and the rest of the staff are very attentive, reliable and reachable. This was my second time renting with Go Iceland and it won't be my last!
My girlfriend and I just got home from a two week trip all around Iceland. We had booked Go Icelands camper "Campervan Play", because we didn't need a 4WD, but still needed some room and a good bed, because my girlfriend is pregnant. And we must admit, that it was absolutely perfect for us! The van could go surprisingly far on a single tank, the heater system is great, and even though it didn't have lots of kitchen-stuff, we had everything we needed. But most importantly, we were so unlucky to break the left rear light, but they have been so kind and did not rip us for a lot of money, even though they could have! So, all in all a great and more than fair car rental company, that you will have no worries of using!
If you only read the first few lines. The message is simple: They are selling insurance which covers absolutely nothing at all. I had an extremely bad experience with this company together with three of my friends. We rented an Land Rover because we wanted to go across the beautiful country of Iceland and not just stick to the highways. We only rented it for two days but just to be on the safe side, we took the most expensive insurance they offered. We had two great days, where our only smaller nuisance was a flat tire which we managed to change ourselves. When we were returning the car, we were told that two of the wheels were destroyed and that they needed readjustment. Since the car had been driving fine so far, we were a bit amiss, since we had specifically rented a special car which we believed could handle the smaller roads of Iceland. When we asked asked how much our insurance covered, we were told it did not cover anything. Suddenly we were told that the wheels were part of the chassis which the insurance did not cover. All in all: I really hate it when these companies offer insurances which absolutely cover nothing at all. It seems to me that they sell insurances, that are cashcows, taking advantage of people who wants some safety in case something happens with the car, that they rented.
I have heard so many horror stories about car rental places ripping people off however they can. Needless to say, I was nervous about renting a car abroad. Go Iceland Car Rental established trust with me once we scoured over the car together looking for any damages they had missed. All of the existing (minor) blemishes were very well documented. I think it's also important to mention that returning the car was a smooth, easy, and quick process. I arrived early to return the car, yet the return took less than 20 minutes. The airport is within walking distance, so my friend and I found ourselves with time to kill at the airport. Further, Go Iceland Car Rental customer service was top notch. Their staff was very helpful and responsive even leading up to the trip. They went out of their way to take care of us and even suggested places to visit while we were on our journey around the country. It's obvious that these guys care about the work they do. If/when I return to Iceland, I will definitely rent here again!
Really really bad service! You do not get the car as ordered, but an inferior car. They publish some different cars online, but they do not have them available. I certainly can not recommend this company to others.
All in all, the car was fine and we didn't experience any problem. But the car already had 140.000 kms, the navigation system was not updated and the key battery was very low, so that it was always a struggle to remotely open and close the car. Could have been better.
I rented a camper van from Go Iceland for 8 days for an Iceland trip in June 2016. The vehicle was a 2016 Renault Kangoo diesel and the vehicle was excellent. Iceland is beautiful and the hiking was some of the worlds best. I highly recommend Iceland as a destination But NEVER rent from this company After an uneventful rental experience, I returned the vehicle to the Keflavik rental office to catch my flight back to Canada. This is where the con job started. They told me they found "damage" to the vehicle and proceed to charge me equivalent of CAD$1300 for a "contour irregularity" in the door. I searched up close and could barely see something when the light shone at just the right angle. I didn't use the word "dent" because that would imply that you could see it. interestingly this contour is also present in the photos I took when I rented the vehicle When I resisted they continued to reassure me that I would be reimbursed by my credit card insurance. They told me I had returned a damaged vehicle that required the door to be removed and repainted After reading other reviews I have learned that this is a common practice for this company. They know you have plane to catch. They know that nobody could ever notice this "contour" in the pre-rental examination. This is a crooked practice where Go Iceland is making significant revenue through this dishonest practice. They justify it by reassuring the customer that the credit card insurance wil reimburse them This practice borders on criminal and they should be investigated by local police, as well as tourism and business bureaus AVOID GO ICELAND
We're very happy with our trip to Iceland. The car we used was cheap and didn't have a single problem. Even though we messed up a bit with the return date the staff took great care of us and solved it all when we needed help. We are extremely satisfied with this car service and we'll make sure to use it again next time.
Thank you very much. Had a fantastic time. Staff were really helpful with 24hr support and the car rental went without a problem. Would definitely use again
I recently spent 2 weeks in Iceland and rented a Suzuki Jimny from Go Iceland cars at a very reasonable price. From day 1 their costumer service was a treat, the guy who picked me up from the Hostel friendly and on time, also very comprehensive with telling me about the car and driving in Iceland. Eleanor at the office was lovely - communicating via email the next day when there was a hiccup with the card machine. I had an amazing time in Iceland which ended unfortunately in the worst way. I had an accident with the car which involved it rolling over off road. Everyone involved was superb, I was told to "don't worry, make sure you are ok first and then we will sort the rest out". Sure enough their agent Hilmar made time to come to me to sort everything out. I do not have much experience renting cars abroad but after what happened, I feel it was lucky I was in their hands. I will definitely be recommending them to family and friends and will be back to see them soon!
My girlfriend and I rented a Renault Kangoo Max campervan for 9 days to go around the island. We arrived late at night (2 am local time) and easily found the Go Iceland office thanks to the map we received before departure. The staff was helfpul to hand-over the car and show us all the features. The van soon became our travel companion, showing an excellent condition and reliability even in the most difficult terrains and weather conditions. The equipment included in the price covers all the needs of such road trip and the sleeping compartment was clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a reliable car and helpful staff for your trip to Iceland, I can definitely recommend Go Iceland. Mirko
Seems like fraud with charged 100.000 ISK and no invoice received for a superficial dent that was almost impossible to see. It was not visible on their photos and the car had lots of damage in the first place, when I received it.

Aug 29,2017These guys are scammers. At first place they seem to be kind, when they give you more expensive car than you've paid for, but with this kindness comes great responsibility. More expensive car = more expensive damage costs and trust me, they charge a lot! For a scratch, which can be easily polished within an hour, they've charged us 1000 euros. It seems like their business model, so please be kind to your wallet and avoid them.
