You are much faster than in the past (this was my tenth book with iUniverse) but much more expensive for much less service.

The copy editing was of marginal quality. The editorial review was a surface look which made it useless. The advertising campaigns were oversold and under performing. The website does not provide me any control except a blog it takes weeks of repeated requests to get a review paced on it. In short, I wasted several thousand dollars that I cannot afford.

Frustrating not being able to communicate with editors despite editorial services being additional costs. Dealing with customer service people located overseas was challenging at times. It seemed like every step of the process salespeople were contacting me offering a "better version" for an additional cost.

Iuniverse Publishing Company are out of Indiana. They would call me every month to check up on me and reassured me that the money I spent would be well worth it--- they reeled me in like a fish!!! In March, 2023 I gave them the go ahead to publish my book. However, I was having a difficult time in communicating with them. I decided to cancel within the 90 day window. Instead of reimbursing the correct amount (taking out $150, they took out another $400 due to the MANUSCRIPT BEING DENIED!!! They were only supposed to assess a $150 fee or 10%, according to their Termination Agreement! DO NOT GO TO IUNIVERSE PUBLISHING!! When you call or email them for advice, good luck!

The follow up after my book was published was pitiful. When I expressed my frustrations about my issues, I was dropped like a bomb. Definitely a wasted investment!

I’m in the process of taking legal action. Iuniverse is a scam, The company will not return calls,, emails or attempt to provide promised work after receiving payments in full. Do not use !

I was very impressed with Mae (who sold me on the company, and has regularly kept in touch.) The editorial department is professional and completely dedicated to producing a saleable end product. However, the marketing/distribution/follow-up is severely lacking. Once they realized they couldn't sell me anything else, nothing got done: I got no response to my queries regarding the promised "Trifecta" book reviews that haven't materialized or the paid-for-website that is nowhere to be found. My assigned "contact" person, disappeared completely after the book went to publishing. Really too bad. As an owner of a company, I voiced the obvious complaint: not one person is assigned to each author for the completion of the project. Every time the book moves to another phase, the previous contacts fade into oblivion. Except for Mae: Mae continues to send me emails weekly asking if I have another book in the works. Or if I'm even thinking of another book, and if so, I should prepay for it now. Come to think of it, maybe I should have given it two stars.

Well I like how professional and courteous the staff has been. I really like how the cover for the book looks like. Looking forward to see what magic the marketing department can do. Overall I had a nice experience. 😊

I never received a penny from my book punished in 2004....Yes they are currently selling my book. It's all over the place on line and in stores. I would like to join a class action suit.

We were very happy and impressed with iUniverse. This was our third book published with this company. Each aspect of the project went smoothly and each project manager was very helpful and knowledgeable. Our communications were addressed very rapidly. Any question we had was answered quickly. We were impressed with the design team as well. The cover is beautiful, as well as the interior. As you can see, we are very happy with the process, the people and the design of our book. Our book went into production very rapidly and we received our books quickly.

The book publishing experience at iUniverse was excellent and deserves five stars. I was extremely pleased with the finished product and the staff were all quite helpful and professional. However, what has frustrated me is ordering additional books - the inability to connect with someone who would take my order. This has put a damper on an otherwise great experience. The company needs to do better in servicing its customers on book purchases.
