Terrible customer service, unable to contact them by phone
For me the best insurer, I had a policy with them last year, unfortunately my 3 years old boxer was very unhealthy at this time, I claimed few times for very expensive scans and diagnosis, and the end of my dog life for death benefit. MiPet cover was very helpful and smooth and easy with direct claims. Every payments on time. Hot recommend the company.
I have had my 6 yr old Labrador insured with MiPet since 8 weeks old. She had been treated for infected anal glands in March ‘22 but I didn’t claim on my insurance for the cost of this as it was below the excess charges. As time went on this became more of a problem and at varying times she had to go back to the vets for anal gland expressing and various medications to treat the problem . The vet then suggested maybe a double anal gland removal as all other treatments had failed, I was advised by him to call MiPet to make sure this operation would be covered by the insurance, I was told yes it would… I cannot remember when I made this phone call. Long story short, the operation was done in Feb of this year, the vets dealt with all the necessary paperwork to MyPet and I heard no more, I assumed the insurance had paid out and all was fine until I received an email 8 weeks later informing me that they would not settle the account as it had been more than 2 years since the first treatment on her anal glands and therefor I had to pay the £2,800 bill! I argued that the vet had said he needed time to try all avenues of treatment as the anal gland removed was the last resort and my dog had intermittent expressions as the glands were sometimes fine for months…. No they wouldn’t pay up! To cancel my policy there and then would cost £178, but on the renewal date 1 month later my premiums have gone from £399 a year to £779..… guess what I’m now going to cancel for free and tell everyone I know about this shoddy money grabbing company!
Take ages to pay out claims. It’s been nearly 5 weeks and still nothing. I don’t think that is acceptable. I shall be looking elsewhere for pet insurance.
MiPet my ass, Totally useless company, pointless, money grabbers dont respond to emails their no help i truely dont see the point of them trading, they want a perscription for my dogs tablets and then want me to drive 100 miles to purchase them from a store.. THE JOKERS..
I am still waiting after 8 weeks for my claim to be settled. They told me it would be settled within 4-6 weeks as they are very busy. When you call they tell you it will be settled next week but that never happens. This is the second claim we have made and it has been a nightmare each time. Communication is terrible and we had to involve the vet to try to help us get it settled. I will not be renewing with this company.
I can wholeheartedly endorse the negative comments made about this company. In my own case, seven weeks after submitting a claim I have found it hasn’t even been assessed yet. A couple of further thoughts about MiPet. As I understand it they are part of a company called CVS, a large group comprising veterinary and related businesses. If your vet is part of CVS then your best approach if you’re having problems would be to complain to them as they will be able to bypass the obstacles to communication. I also get the impression their administration is being outsourced which means CVS aren’t in comprehensive control of their customers claims. From my experience I would definitely not recommend this insurer.
Awful company. Constantly have to chase, when they say they’ve contacted the vet but you speak to the vet and no communication has been attempted. Wouldn’t recommend, bunch of cowboys.

This is second time I’ve put a claim in they are quick go take your money but slow to pay up. We’ve had to pay credit card bill but no payment despite phoning abd was gold it’s the order to be processed. My cats had 2 fits this past week abd needs referral but specialist needs £400 up front … we r still waiting for claim to be paid.
Website has NO functionality. It is a farm for data. It gets all your information and then says “we are having issues”. This is being happening for over a year according to other users here. Paid money, took direct debit but wont supply any policies or documents. Just point blank refuse telling us to login to the website. When I asked where the login was he said “it is different on every computer so he would never know” When we finally got to the website it states you need the policy number to access. You dont have it because its on the paper they dont send and wont give you.and then to top it all they told me “your Policy application number is not linked to my brand new cat but instead a 14 year old dog so I couldnt have cover. Every time I ring I get this same clown. There appears to be no staff. Website says 24 hour call centre. Lies. Its open 1000-1630 weekdays. No website, no policy documents, no email replies, apparently no actual cover paid to anyone by the look of it and no customer service. Refund was forced by chargeback by payment provider. Never ever ever will recommend. I cannot imagine what would happen if you desperately needed emergency treatment.
Utterly appalled by this company. I lost my lovely 3 year old cat suddenly due to illness. I was paying a high premium for him as he was poorly when he was a kitten of over £50 a month. I was aware of the excess on my policy but when Mipet settled with the vet they deducted nearly £600 for the remaining years premiums on my now dead cat. I was paying monthly as could not afford to pay the premium as a lump sum. Mipet did not give me the option of continuing to pay monthly and have essentially transfered this debt over to the vet so I now have to pay the vet for this short fall in their bill. Having to pay insurance on my poor deceased baby is the final straw. I am devastated. I cannot understand how this company can be so uncompassionate as to expect me to pay when they no longer have the risk of me making further claims. I am now in a position where I have to pay my vet a lump sum that I simply don't have. I am shocked that can be so callous. I will never use this company again to insure my animals.
Unable to retrieve a quote. We have tried twice online to obtain a quote and have also phoned. Given all our personal information only to be told that the site is unable to issue quotes at the moment. We tried again a few days later the same thing happened. Not a good start to an insurance policy. How ever our vet seems to recommend them.
The company was happy to take our money but the moment we needed the insurance they hardly covered. Our beloved cat sadly got hit by a car and died instantly. She was taken to a vets and we were informed. I completed the paperwork and the vets signed it off. It was submitted about 5 days after she passed away. The insurance then requested to see our pet's health history. Within hours I provided them with the contact details for our usual vet. A month later I had still heard nothing so I chased them. They were still waiting for the vet to complete the paperwork. I then phoned the vets. They had only just submitted the paperwork after I chased! The vet completed and submitted the requested documentation the same day. When we then got I reply we were told they only covered £100. This was for the deposit on our cat. Which I had an email showing. It also said in the email that the remaining balance was to be paid upon collection - so no payment, no cat. They don't cover this! I asked if they do not cover the cost of the cremation. The answer was that they had not received the paperwork for this. I provided them with the paperwork. Today I have then been told that they do not cover this either. Will not be using this company again. Imagine if your pet needs urgent medical care. I can only imagine they would be handling this just as badly.
