For a little scratch on the door they charged me 4000 euro! I could buy a new car with It. And I bought 100 euro insurance for 4 days but it wasn't covering this damage caused by the wind. So what normally happens on Iceland, because of strong winds, is not coverd by the insurance!! Logical choice

Unlike other people I didnt get a choice between insurrance or a hefty deposit. I was just forced to put 490000isk (like 3500USD) on my creditcard, I thought they were joking, but nope I booked via a third party. Never heard of this discrimination before. Unluckily that my salary was just paid the same morning. But had to take a loan to pay my bills and fund what should have been a nice holiday. Because we had to be cheap on food and couldnt do any extras, Its an absolute scam. Never got any pick up confirmation, but of course took pictures and video of car. When returning they open at 6.00, I was there a while after 6.00 and nobody there. Using the drop off box has an extra fee, they shouldnt even dare to charge it, I took pictures and everything that it was 6.30 when I dropped the key and they were not open. Nothing bad about the car, it was brand new and super advanced. But after a week of returning it, still no deposit refunded and no confirmation of drop off. I filed a complain and all they say they have the right to do all this. Its robbery to hold on to the deposit this long, they say it can take 28 days, which of course it will so they harvest my interest that I now have to pay as fine for my loan. I live in Iceland and I saw that car back on the road, there is zero reason to hold it, they cleared the car. Also they didnt tell how to pick up the car. I am a local I know where they are located, but as a tourist I would have had no idea where to go because they didnt sent this information and at the airport terminal are only the bigger companies. They dont deserve a desk there anyway. Notice they also don't care about complaints here and probably put up 2 clearly fake 5 star ratings, you cant make this sheit up really....

Booked the car for 2 days. Issue immediately happened after 2 hours where the tyres were not pressurised enough. My feeling is they had the warning and simply reset the warnings in car... because thats what the did for me at the tune of an additional £400 they tried to get me to pay. The issue went away for an additional 4 hours then happened again. Absolute scam. I would run miles away from this company

Prenotato auto da Ice Rental Cars all’aeroporto di Reykjavik tramite Rentalcars (gruppo Booking). Il mio volo è arrivato 1h30 in ritardo e non mi hanno più consegnato la macchina che avevo prepagato per 4 giorni. Pessimo servizio sia da parte loro che da Rentalcars

We booked a car through EasyJet and the confirmed pick up time was 8:15 pm. After we landed, we phoned the company only to hear a message that they had closed the office at 6pm. We called easyJet customer services for help, but they were unable to speak to anybody in the office either. We found the shuttle bus which was also out of service with no alternative information.I use a wheelchair and have chronic fatigue, so we made the decision to get a taxi to our hotel and to pick up the car in the morning. When we called the company in the morning they had given our car away and cancelled our booking but still taken my money. We were offered a smaller car, which would not have taken my wheelchair or obviously a much more expensive bigger car. We are currently trying to get my money back via easyJet.

The budget car hire experience was marred by incredibly rude and dismissive treatment from staff, leaving me eager to share this disparaging one-star review. Despite understanding the budget nature, the staff's contempt and disdain for customers were palpable. During car pickup, we were scorned for choosing a smaller car, insinuating they'd relish our misfortune. The Filipino lady handling the return abruptly paused to take a personal call, leaving us uncertain about completing the process. Waiting for the transfer bus, we endured a 30-minute wait inside, only to be told to flag it down outside, adding to the frustration caused by the same lady's earlier neglect. This disrespectful treatment, highlighted by their indifferent attitude, prompted my first negative review, reflecting a shameful lack of customer dignity. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE !!!

The worst company I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. They are scammers. They give you cars with problems and then charge you to fix them. An absolute disgraceful company. Also incredibly rude and disrespectful.

The worst experience I had with a rental company! They charged us additionnal fees for no valid reason. Be sure to bring a credit card with you (not a debit card) cause if you don't they'll force you to take the full insurence for the car (and it's very expensive!!!)

Hold jer væk! Ved booking på hjemmesiden betalte jeg for fuld forsikring. men ved afhentning af bilen blev jeg opkrævet 1700 dkk for ekstra platinum forsikring for at få lov til få bilen. Kunne ikke få det oprindelige betalte beløb refunderet da man self kun kan gøre det op til 24 timer før afhenting. De afpresser og lyver alt hvad de kan.

Has explain with others comment, instead of taking a caution of 3000 euros as planned, they force you to pay 40% of extra price to take their insurance. Liars and thieves...

Very unfriendly and unhelpful. Gave them advanced notice that our flight to Iceland had been cancelled, but they still charged us full price as a no show with no compromise on at least not charging for the premium insurance and gps we added on (directly through them). At the least I would avoid purchasing insurance and extras in advance.

Bad experience, forced me to pay extra 100 euros for extra insurance because their system doesn't accept certain credit cards... They have the worst location, far from the airport, and 2 weeks after the return of the car my deposit (500 euros) still hasn't been returned. AVOID them at all cost. Much more efficient to use a "share-now" like service

Unglaublich schlecht, die Firma möchte 2900€ auf der KK blockieren & verrechnet enorme Summen für die Versicherung die einem aufgezwungen wird. Finger weg. Be aware!

Great service! We didn't have to wait to get the car and we got a hybrid toyota yaris in a very good condition. The employees were very kind, especially Jéssica, it was really nice for me having someone from Portugal to speak portuguese with when I arrived in Iceland! Very good experience!

1 star goes to customer service lady, who clearly shows in her voice that you are super annoying and repeating same things like maybe you are stupid as well. Good job :)

Lej aldrig bil af dette firma!!!!!!!! Hvis jeg kunne - gav jeg minus på stjerner. Ved booking på hjemmesiden betalte jeg for fuld forsikring. Modtog flere mails om, at bilen var fuld forsikret. Dog blev jeg ved afhentning af bilen opkrævet 1400 dkk.. for manglende forsikring. Jeg havde bestilt en mellem størrelse bil. Så altså den der var en smule dyrere. Alligevel ender jeg med at modtage nøglerne til den mindste Hyundai der eksistere på Island. Ekspedienten var flabet, arrogant, nedladende og på ingen måde interesseret i at forklare tingende, så almindelige mennesker kunne forstå det. Bare alt i alt en virkelig træls oplevelse. Næste gang lejer jeg bil ved et selvskab der fra start er en smule dyrere. Men ender ud i at blive meget billigere.

Service personale søde og venlige. Bilen kært 155.000 og slidt - bremser ikke i orden. Skulle skubbes i gang 2 gange. Problemer med det elektriske og skiftevis dur 1 eller 2 pærer ikke. Dæktryk advarsel ligeså. Hjulleje i venstre baghjul trænger til udskiftning. Ja bare en bil der er for slidt til udlejning. Herudover trækkes tilsyneladende skades depositum som ikke krediteres ved returnering (2.900 euro) selvom der er tegnet fuld forsikring. Påtale af træk bliver oplyst at det bliver krediteret om 30-40 dage. Dette er bare ikke i orden og slet ikke ventet i et ellers struktureret velfungerende land Så hvis ikke pengene er retur asap står denne anmeldelse fortsat og vil påtale det overfor Icelandair der har icerental som anbefalet på deres hjemmeside. Så indtil videre har billejen kostet 220% af fly, hotel samt restaurant besøg 👎👎

Searched for car rentals through kayak which directed me to book through HolidayAutos. Booking was easy and offered car insurance. Arrived at Iceland and instructions on where to ride car rental shuttle is outdated. Eventually get to rental office and service is slow and first rep was unhelpful. Second rep was sort of more helpful until insurance came up. He said I didn’t get insurance. I told him I did. He said they don’t accept “3rd party” insurances. Rep said I can still use the 3rd party insurance but that they had to put a $3,000 hold on my card for the entirety of my trip and if anything happened, they would take the $3,000 and I had to deal with the “3rd party” insurance myself in getting my money back for coverage. I could not put a $3,000 hold on my card so I was basically ransomed to pay for more insurance which was the only way I was getting out of there with a car. Definitely would not use them again or recommend to anyone else.

Undriendly desk officer. He insisted that digital credit cards are not getting accepted (not stated on the booking voucher or rental terms) and charged me an additional, full insurance package.

Very happy with my overall experience with IceRental Cars. The friendly and efficient service from Damiel was very reassuring and left us with only good memories for our time in Iceland. We were randomly upgraded from a Duster to a Tuscon which gave us 2,600Km of freedom around Iceland for a very fair price, through rough terrain and difficult weather conditions. The company were happy to help on any occasion hassle free. (For example, swapping a headlight bulb with no expense due to their numerous service centres). Honest, Trustworthy and affordable. Thank you!
