Avoid this company at all costs. They installed batteries for my system 2 months ago and they have never worked! They do not charge. The company promised to return but are now avoiding my calls and messages. I am having to engage with another company at great cost to review, recertify and make what they have installed work! Con artists! Be aware they are setting a new company up "Solar in Essex".
Dreadful service all the way though. Ignore emails repeatedly, phones of the hook no communication. Pretended to be interested in a quote and replied within hours 🤷‍♂️ Electrition failed repeatedly to turn up. Once they have your money they don’t care. Cowboys today the least. You have responded to me mentioning the review so stop lying as you know it’s not fake just sort the issue.
I hired Solar in Kent following a recommendation, to install solar panels on my residential property and a second buy to let property in Portsmouth in March 2024. From the moment the installations were completed, it was a nightmare scenario that no one should ever have to go through. Within just 24 hours of installation, I discovered a panel on the pavement in front of my house. At first, John tried to claim that a neighbour must have taken the panel off the roof. However, my CCTV showed the panel landing on my shed and car. Within just 24 hours of installation, 4 panels were blown out of position on the flat roof of my home. One of these panels came down from 3 stories high onto the pavement below. This was not just an inconvenience - it caused thousands of pounds worth of damage and luckily didn’t hit anyone. My roof light was smashed causing water ingress into my home directly onto my bed. My main roof and shed were damaged. My car was also damaged by the falling panel and had to go into the shop for repairs. To date, weeks and months of my time has since been consumed in dealing with this and it remains unresolved. Their shoddy work left my family sleeping amongst buckets to catch rainwater for weeks as they ignored requests to address the water ingress and subsequent damage. They stopped answering the scaffolding company’s calls, so that I had scaffolders at my doorstep enquiring from me how to get hold of Solar in Kent to ensure payment. In the aftermath, Solar in Kent has been utterly inept and irresponsible. The one was positive was that they involved their public liability company. However, they told them that this was a “freak accident” so that the insurance company suggested that this was “An Act of God”. This remains an ongoing battle, with Solar in Kent threatening to withdraw the insurance claim and washing their hands of any further responsibility and to date not offering to put right any damage themselves. I sent John videos of the constant water ingress. John openly lied to say that Cosmin (who through discussion they had deceived me to believe was the sub-contractor) was in Bristol and unable to return to put a temporary cover over the smashed rooflight. Cosmin confirmed that he had never been in Bristol and initially offered to come back, but then both of them stopped answering calls and messages to help, and complete work on the other install. The most terrifying part was that this incident created a life-threatening situation. My concerns over their handling of the situation led me to seek an independent inspection of the installation from a well regarded and award-winning company. They surveyed the work and described it as “the worst installation we’ve seen in 14 years” (of solar work) and stated that “not a single regulation has been met” in the installation. They described them as being “worse than cowboys.” Specifically, their report criticised that the panels were installed too close to the roof edge and oversailing the roof in places when they should be set back 450mm from the roof edge, and therefore in violation of regulations. This caused the panels to act like a wing and blow off easily in the wind. Had someone been walking below, they could have easily been killed by the falling debris due to this company's gross negligence. Adding to the shady nature of this company, public records show Solar in Kent was a dormant company until January 2023. While John is conveyed by the team as the boss and director, it appears the actual manager is a subcontractor named Cosmin who is listed as a director of the company raising a lot of questions about their operations and ethics. I cannot overstate how unprofessional, unethical, remorseless and downright dangerous this solar company and their work has been. Do not put your property and safety at risk by hiring them. There are plenty of other competent solar installers follow regulations and take accountability for their work.
After a really positive experience with the install I’m sadly let down by the follow up service. In summary I don’t have a G98 or DNO and whilst being promised it’s on the way as time went by they stopped answering my emails calls or WhatsApp messages. I accept process may take a while but due to a breakdown in communication I can only assume I’m being blacklisted. Install is as in March 23 so that’s 15 months I’m waiting. They did ask me to send in a declaration which I did and the. Nothing. That was months ago
Regrettably, a very disappointing encounter! I sought assistance from a couple of sales representatives at Solar in Kent to design a system for my property with four roofs, which presented a complex challenge for estimating the required number of solar panels. Unfortunately, the initial designs by the design team were flawed, inaccurately maximizing panel coverage where it was impossible. Afterward, Solar in Kent proposed a survey without requesting any commitment from me. This survey was essential to provide an accurate assessment and design for panel coverage. We agreed on a specific date and time for the survey, and I took time off work to accommodate it. On the morning of the appointment, I received a call from a seemingly unprofessional surveyor who confirmed the appointment but abruptly inquired if I was committed to proceeding with their services before conducting the survey. I explained that I was still deliberating due to the various design issues encountered so far. To my dismay, the surveyor rudely stated that if I wasn't ready to commit, there was no need for the survey and promptly ended the call. No apologies were offered by the surveyor for the inconvenience and time wasted. Furthermore, it has been over a week, and the sales team has not contacted me again. It is frustrating to have taken time off from work for a survey that never took place.
I have to say I was pleased with the service I received in regard to the purchase and installation of the solar panels. The office team was really great Sue and Heather really kept me up to date suitable to the installation date. Aftersales' care was outstanding as well. Thank you
New battery installed. Very tidy work.
Wonderful service. Great system, thank you Cosmin and the team. Highly recommended!
Just had 26kWh battery storage installed. Very impressed how neat and tidy it is. Thanks JJ.
Thank you for your team for all your hard work. We are already seeing a reduce in our energy costs
Avoid at all costs!, I found this company on 'Check a trad' and spent ÂŁ15000 on a solar panel system! John from Solar in Kent came over to complete a site survey spent a few minutes here said he could install 20 x panels (no tape measure used) on an out building save them having to go on the main house roof. Cosmin (owner) and his installation team came over to install and Cosmin was only able to install 10 panels on the out building causing the rest to go on the main roof! not what was sold to me!. The original plan was to install on a Wednesday finish on Thursday! They arrived on the Monday Took days to complete, here for a few hours then off again the electrician turned up on the Thursday at 16:00 left at 16:30 as had another job to complete came back at 18:00 was here until 21:30 trying to finish up! i had to drill holes in my own wall as the electrician did not have the correct tools. They installed a additional fuse-board at an increased cost as I did not have any spare space on my existing board (again not checked by John on his site visit) and since installation I have had many issues with the additional fuse board and two circuits tripping out. Still not resolved! Still no Part P certificate of Building control Certificate after 3 months of constant emails and phone calls! I was told I was able to sell any excess energy back to the Energy company but to do this you need the installer to be MCS Certified and registered with either NICEIC, NAPIT or IAA! I have now found out that Solar in Kent are not registered nor applying for approval with either of the 3 electrical trade bodies. The system installed i have had installed by Solar in Kent can not be back dated and MCS approved should they ever get MCS registered. Batteries are for sale on Ebay from Solar in Kent far cheaper than what they charge you when completing an install! interesting Feedback! So beware people ask all the right questions and do not pay until the work is completed and signed off!!!

Nov 28,2024Creepy owner, unprofessional and misogynistic. He was so rude when I said no to the quote based on local people saying don't buy from them. AVOID.
