I went on a track day with the Real Gran Tourismo and had a great time bombing it round the track. Nick and his team were really helpful and great instructors who made the whole thing totally worthwhile. Recommend this to anyone whether a complete piston head or a novice who wants to have some fun

The staff I dealt with were brilliant. And the wealth of experience and knowledge that the drivers/instructors have is second to none. I had a great time on track and will definitely be using RGT again in the future

I had bought a Groupon voucher for the Gold experience for my wife and myself. Our first two attempts to book in the Summer at Donington were both cancelled last minute which was supposedly due to circumstances out of their hands but Nick, the organiser, was quite helpful and flexible with arranging another date. By the time we had managed to sort another date, it was Autumn and the weather was not on our side - not so much of an issue for me but my wife was a bit nervous about doing it anyway (despite the fact she'll happily jump out of a plane) and poor weather didn't help matters. We were, however, given the option to re-book for the following Spring but as the weather was easing off, decided to stay. The waiting/briefing area consisted of a slightly moth-eaten marquee and some cheap camping chairs. There were no drinks or snacks available - either as part of the package or to purchase separately - so we had to go back to our car and drive round to the main Donington paddock area and purchase from the cafe. Nor was there any form of entertainment - although I think Nick did try to get some music going on his phone at one point. These aren't massive issues but it doesn't take much to lay stuff like that on and considering you can only see very little of the track, it would have helped with the waiting around. For the equipment, a helmet was provided but no overalls or gloves. Not really an issue in closed cockpit cars but in something like the Aerial Atom, in the wet, you're going to get soaked and a bit dirty. There were also no "professional" photos taken, nor were there any Go Pro cameras attached to the cars which was yet another missed opportunity for them to make a bit more money and the clients to have a better experience. The worst omission, however, was the lack of an intercom system. These cars are, as you'd expect, loud at full chat and with both you and the instructor wearing a helmet, it's difficult to hear and be heard. The driving experience itself had promise but neither of us felt we received much in the way of "driver training". Yes, you were allowed and encouraged to use the full rev range and breaking abilities of the cars but the advise given to us before hand about what to do if you lost control consisted of "do an emergency stop" - there was nothing about regaining control e.g. modulating the brake pedal if you lock up or counter-steering into oversteer etc. etc. - i've done a few of these type of things in the past so maybe they could see that and didn't feel the need to mention things like that to me (the Atom instructor certainly just let me get on with it after the first lap or so, which was quite refreshing) but what I'm most annoyed about is that my wife, who this day was really supposed to be about, came back feeling she'd not really learnt anything and that she could have gone faster round there in her Audi TT. They didn't even time your laps - how are you supposed to know how well, or even if you've improved? So overall, it was hit and miss. If we'd not had our original booking cancelled and done this on a dry, sunny day, we'd have probably not even noticed or really cared much about all the other downsides and had an awesome time. However, the weather was naff, one of the cars broke down, they were short on staff, we didn't get as many laps as we should of and what was supposed to be a 2.5hr experience turned into more like 4hrs with all the waiting around. When we finally got to drive the Atom, the rain had returned and we were told, due to good old "health and safety", we'd have to stay in 5th and go about 10MPH...or we could have a full speed passenger ride. We both decided to drive and thankfully, the 10MPH bit was an exaggeration. Yes, it was in 5th the whole time but being such a light car, so long as you carry the speed through the corners, you can soon get a decent lick on - you'd be amazed at how hard you can brake in the wet with these things too. So whilst the day was slightly disappointing, the majority of this was really down to circumstances beyond their control and we both got out of the cars with smiles on our faces. If the Groupon deal came up again, we'd probably give it another try but only on a dry day and only really for the chance to drive an Atom flat out. EDIT: Interesting. I wrote this in Octotber 2015 (it's now Jan 2017) and 35mins ago the company replied. Until now, mine has been the only review of this company but low and behold, 35mins ago another two reviews have popped up, both 5-star, both thin on detail and both people appear to be from the USA...this is a UK company that operates experience days in the UK. They couldn't possibly be writing fake reviews of their own company to get the score up, could they? ;)
