With an outstanding pedigree stretching back 50 years, Baird & Co. is one of the UK’s leading full service bullion traders, manufacturers and refiners.
The salesperson I talked to came across as entitled and unfriendly. They complained in all seriousness that I had been offered too good a deal, and took time to consider whether they wanted to honour it. To be fair, they did honour it in the end. I had good experiences with Baird in the past, but would not use them again unless they change their attitude to put the customer experience first.
Baird was recommended to by V-Jewellers who I trust. Baird delivered what i ordered (15 gold sovereigns) and everything looks good, no problems. Initially I messed up and sent payment from the business, they returned the money and I made a personal transfer. I got what I ordered for at reasonable price, I cant complain. Ill keep ordering small for now and will update if I ever have any issues... I read some of the complaints here, sounds all a bit over dramatized to me.
The only reason I gave 3stars is due to the website being extremely difficult to use when placing orders using a laptop. I managed to place order instantly via my mobile phone, items was delivered next working day, securely packaged..
I used to trust Bairds, having purchased many sovereigns from them over the years. Then I sold Bairds some palladium. Phoned up and was told that they would pay 95% of spot over the phone. Went into Hatton garden the next day to sell a few ounces and was told OTC they would only offer 90% of spot. I walked outside and used my mobile to call them again and the lady who answered the phone said 95% again. I walked into the shop and told the girl behind the counter that I had just been quoted 95% of spot over the phone. The girl behind the counter called the quote woman (somewhere upstairs or in the East London mint I'd guess) and confirmed that I'd been quoted 95% but that had been a mistake because she thought that I was trade (at no point in either phone conversation was I asked if I was trade) so the telephone quote, given minutes before, would not be honoured. I eventually sold a few ounces for 92.5% of spot, a compromise proposed by the girl behind the counter and agreed to by the quote lady to make up for her mistake. It's pretty bad for a bullion dealer not to honour phone quotes. I wrote a paper letter of complaint to two of Bairds' directors, the 2 with Baird as their family name. They couldn't be bothered to reply at all.
I've used Baird three times and each time it has been a quick seamless process. I've ordered via the website which is done securely. Email communication thereafter is quick and clear. Once fully paid the goods were dispatched quickly. If I had any queries I called them and they responded quickly and helpfully. Highly recommend
After I had left the shop Mark notified me that the weight of gold I had sold had been incorrectly assessed and was in fact more than had been assumed. I was paid for the extra amount. Glad to have honest service.
This is my go shop when I want to buy gold! great customer service. Unlike many other shops, these lads are straightforward and do not overcharge as a customers from overseas.
Exceptional company and one of the best priced in the UK. Placed my order via the telephone, was emailed KYC forms that day, completed these and then bank transfer; the Gold was available for collection within 2 weeks. Was advised due to amount to collect in person. Very smooth and hassle free process. Purchasing physical Gold is not spot trading, it is a long term play. Baird deliver everything one would expect from a Bullion dealer of their standing. Cannot recommend highly enough.
good, gold came in 3 days.
I made my way into Baird &Co. again today, and as usual I was greeted by Mark & Justine's friendly faces! Once Mark was finished with the customer he was serving (which was a couple of minutes) he called me to his counter and asked me how he could help. I told him, & after a minute or so of him rummaging around out back he returned with exactly what I'd asked for, plus a couple of additional suggestions too! After some serious umming and ahhring on my part, the two of them also managed to persuade me that right there and then was an excellent time to make an additional purchase due to a dip in the price (16:20 on 6/8/2021 ) & that I wouldn't regret it! And they were right! Again! I left with a smile on my face and a skip in my step and would recommend everyone pay them a visit at least once in their life! I know I'll be going back as soon as I can!
Justine is a great credit to Bairds in Hatton Garden. She combines a warm friendly manner with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. Thanks very much Justine!
So it's my first time buying gold. I took a plunge and spent quiet a significant amount of my savings on the purchase. The first time I placed an order, the page showed an error when I checked out. Total nightmare and I had an error stating basket was empty when it was not. I quickly added the item back and tried again then it went through, strange. The price increased so I paid an additional £20! I thought fine my issues are over, one step closer? Wrong! I then didn't receive a confirmation email until I phoned a chased it up. Bear in mind I am talking a lot of money here. I also told the customer service people and they didn't care. The price is the price type of attitude, and the website issue? Not interested. They make you sound like your point is falling on deaf ears. So I was promised an email by mid day nothing! Call again told I will have it soon. Few hours sure enough it came through! Sorted then? No!! I paid the full amount, amount on receipt has money outstandingly. I call in AGAIN I'm am told I paid in full no problems. Great can I have an accurate receipt? No sorry we can't issue you with a new one. Why does it even matter? Well for insurance or when it comes to selling I have outstanding monies owed! A real shame and a huge hassle. Honestly take my advice and use another company. It's a shame as I was hoping to write a good review and support a British company but it back fired. I will update this when I get my item. I hope the troubles end. Hope this review helps
Looking at the opinions I was worry, there was a problem with answering the e-mails. But you can find adress on the Google Maps. Read carefully- if you will follow their procedure works OK, delivery next day after payment and without problems.. and the price was nice at the time I was buying it:)
this is the 2nd time i purchased bullion coins from Barid. because i am living oversea so i have to purchase online instead. no problem to set up the account and fund the account as their compliance department has been timely with their response and clear with the instruction. they even accommodate the use of TransferWise (now Wise). my only suggestion (and one i think if adopted will bring great comfort to customers who are not familiar with Baird) is to have more resources in their customer service/sales department to answer emails :) i purchased my 2nd batch of coins on 6/May and asked a couple of questions to ensure correct delivery but like the 1st time time the email still has not been answered :( anyway, i will say not the best practice to get your customers buy and pray. update: it is encouraging shortly after posting this review my question has been addressed. keep up the good work!
I have always been purchasing from their Hatton Gardens store and never been dissatisfied. However the last time I had to order it online because the stock in store is different from their website. It arrived pretty quickly and well packaged; no issues there. Only suggestion is to have at least a few number of the items available in store which are shown in stock online to cater to the in-person shoppers.
Great prices on Sovereigns and small ingots. Cheaper than the others and good service on the phone. No worries. Thanks.
Due to some bad reviews here I didn't want to risk my money and my time. Now I will do it again without any hesitation. I've setup my account easily, you need to upload the requested documents, you need to transfer the money in their account bank and your money will be available in your online account ready to spend, just follow their indications which will be send it to you by email and you will be fine. They didn't respond to my email when I've contact them about my delivery, the delivery was one week late but who cares about this when they will send you very quality products cheaper than any where in the UK and you will save lots of £££. If you are patient and want to make a good investment this is the place you can trust. Thank you.
Looked around for some small bars again after a hiatus. These guys are still waaay cheaper than any of the other websites. As previously said, they are a proper refinery manufacturing their own products and been around for 50 plus years so no wonder. Buy with confidence.
For over 4 months they said they are repairing a transaction mistake on the system and frozen my account. I cannot imagine an organisation taking 4 months to fix a transaction mistake! I am writing to London Bullion Market Association to complain and withdraw their membership. I will also write to government regulators to investigate potential fraud

Jul 02,2022Ordered some silver coins from the Baird mint website for collection. The prices were very good for what I wanted and better than other main bullion websites I checked. After 3 days of not hearing anything I phoned up and they told me the coins were ready for collection and that I should have received an email. I told them i hadn’t received any email. Anyway I asked for the email to be resent which they did and it was all ok and I received the coins ok. I’m not sure why I didn’t receive the first email even though I checked in spam. I’ve seen bad reviews for the company but it seems like the issues people have had are down to organisational problems rather than dishonesty. The staff were very helpful on the phone and it was easy to collect my coins in person in the end and this also saved me on postage. I hope to use Baird mint again. They obviously have a big, established reputation and I’m wondering whether since the pandemic and the increase of individuals (like myself) wanting to buy small amounts of bullion as well as the big-time buyers, they have found it hard to cope with any increase of orders. That said, if you’re looking for good prices then Baird Mint seem hard to beat.
