Jan 21,2022As previous comments, I ordered a book a few months ago and have now noticed I was signed up for a membership of £15 a month that I was unaware of when I ordered the book. I did not opt for the members price or the membership when I ordered my book. I am finding it very difficult to cancel this on their website. Just hope this raises awareness for other people. Turns out a very expensive book Having had a reply from bunks they still say I opted for the members price in which I certainly did not as a membership of £15 a month was not going to be utilised. This membership was automatically added into the basket by the company. Also had a telephone conversation with customer services to cancel the membership and again was informed I opted for the membership. Explanation fell on deaf ears !!.£60 has been taken from my account over the past few months . Would definitely like to warm people about this

Jan 18,2022Observera att detta är ett medlemsskap och om du ska köpa 1 bok så kommer du att vara tvungen att betala medlemsskap för en hel månad på 129 kr. Det innebär att den där något "billigare" boken kan bli ganska dyr.

Jan 18,2022I fell for this scam too work in IT and had no idea I had signed up to subscription service until i saw my credit card statement. I have just retraced my steps I found the book and clicked link and add to basket under members price, there was no add to basket for non members. Clearly their operation model is to scam customers the normal price looks like it is showing RRP and is is faint in text to look insignificant. Taking up with my credit card company.

Jan 17,2022Tror ja köpte någon bok för 14 månader sen och oavsett om det är upp till mig att läsa det finstilta så är dom sjukt sneaky för dom har dragit 129kr I 14 månader och jag har aldrig fått ett enda medlemsmail, vilket betyder att dom gör det medvetet för att lura sina kunder. Edit: Tine jag tycker det är patetiskt av Buuks att ursäkta sig och låtsas bry sig här när det är uppenbart lurendrejeri. Jag hade skämts om jag var associerad med ett sånt företag och hade hellre blivit vräkt och bott på gatan eller rånat en bank, det är till och med mer hederligt.

Jan 14,2022Upptäckte efter nästan ett år att jag blivit debiterad för medlemskap som jag aldrig fattade att jag skrev upp mig på. Det stod säkert, men jag uppfattade det inte och känner mig lurad. Förstår inte varför man ska betala mer per månad för ett bokklubbsmedlemskap, än vad de flesta böcker kostar. Inga boktips eller andra värden för pengarna (inte ens reklammejl!). Endast dragna pengar. Håller uppenbarligen låg profil så att man inte ska märka att man blivit lurad.

Jan 11,2022Priserna må vara låga men vad som inte framkommer är att de kommer dra 129kr/månaden i medlemsavgift strax efter köpet. Se upp för detta då man lätt kan luras av deras bedragande marknadsföring.

Jan 10,2022I bought a book from them last April (ironically it was "Boris Johnson, the Assault on Truth") - cost £6.44. Like lots of others, I rarely scrutinise my credit card statements thoroughly enough. Today as I did my yearly accounts I realised that Buuks have taken £15 a month from me since last May, totalling £120. For absolutely nothing. No emails, no books, no communication of any sort. I've just too late read all the negative publicity about them which can easily be found on a quick search. It's a scam which relies on the fact that most of us who just want to buy a book don't plough through the acres of small print (I'm sure someone will come back and say it's our own fault..blah blah). I'm speaking to my credit card company's Fraud Department first thing tomorrow. Incidentally, if you read the many negative reviews on this site you'll realise that one of their reps comes on to explain patiently how you're wrong and they're right. If Buuks are indeed the fine upstanding company that they'd like you to think they are then maybe the decent thing to do would be to have a gigantic banner at the top of each web page with something like "WARNING, PLEASE ADD £15 TO ALL ADVERTISED PRICES - THAT'S £15 A MONTH BY THE WAY, UNTIL YOU REALISE WHERE YOUR MONEY'S GOING TO" I think that would make things clear, what do you think Buuks? Update: As expected, I received a reply from Buuks assuring me that the mistake was mine. I stand by everything I said above. There is a difference between the "letter of the law" and the "spirit of the law" - it's very easy to hide a tick box or whatever in the middle of a sea of text, and hope nobody notices it, and that's exactly how this scam works (it is a scam regardless of their protestations). It must be awful to work for a company which has 43% one-star rating on Trustpilot, which has been the subject of a national newspaper article, and which produces so many negative results on a simple Google search (just try putting "who are Buuks" into a search engine!)
