I had C&C carry out two surveys on different properties: the first time an RICS level 2 homebuyers survey, the second time an RICS level 3 building survey. At both occasions I handed over a small list with some specific items I wanted to surveyor to pay attention to. Both times this list was ignored at the time of the survey (even though the second time I got explicit confirmation this would not happen again). First time I got the list answered in hindsight after reminding them, but missing the details I expected, and I am still waiting for them to do the same (?) for the second survey. The report were kind of OK (though not overly impressive how issues are documented), so still give them 3 stars, but will look elsewhere if I need to do another survey.

It is a trustworthy company and we received the survey report in 3 working days with all photos, details of the property with estimated costings to fix the defects. Highly appreciated and would recommend to friends.

Level 3 Building Survey. Two problems. (1) Did not inspect loft. The Report claims that the entry hatch to the loft was sealed. But the fact was the vendor on the spot allowed the surveyor to unseal the hatch. Surveyor did not take any step to unseal it, nor did surveyor seek my instruction on how to proceed. In fact, the hatch just required unscrewing some screws to unseal. When I asked the firm to inspect the loft after it was opened, the firm asked me to pay extra £245. (2) Report did not test taps in bathroom and toilet; and did not test boiler, claiming there was no running water in the property. Somehow the Report contains two photos showing water running from a kitchen tap. Report also indicated the location of the main cockstop of water supply in the house. There is no evidence that the vendor had refused to turn open the cockstop. In fact, the vendor would have willingly assisted if the surveyor had requested.

Very prompt service, coordinating with the estate agent and the vendors to arrange a date for the survey in good time. The report produced was detailed and clear with pictures included.

Prompt engagement and response time. Acted quickly to get the survey booked and produced a comprehensive and easy to read report. The valuation took a bit longer, but we were advised of this at the time of engagement.

We selected C&C as they had the best price of any of our quotes in the St Albans area. We were extremely pleased with the level of detail in both the building survey and valuation and the speed at which these were produced. Our survey was completed by Jan Volkan who produced a very well written report full of useful information and advice. Our valuation was completed by Asif Chaudhry who provided a detailed description of the methodology and rational of the valuation. We were also very impressed by the efficiency of the booking staff who also co-ordinated with our estate agents to select a suitable time, without requiring much input from us. Overall, we are very pleased with the service from C&C and would recommend them.

Jan ,the surveyor, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He came to assess damp problems in an old house. He went through the issues very carefully and thoroughly and identified areas where work was needed. He sent us a very detailed report with photos. Emma who dealt with booking was also very helpful. A very nice and professional company to deal with.

If I could give this company 0 I would. They carried out house buyers survey from us in Sep 2022. The surveyor either missed or failed to include in the report an obviously visibly defective porch roof, zero degree pitch, wrong tiles,no flashing. This, we found, leaked like a sieve and subsequently cost us just short of 1200 pounds to replace. We are currently in an ongoing dispute with the company and are compiling a complaint to RICS , as they are refusing to accept they were negligent. Their customer service is in my opinion, poor, failing to reply to e mails without several prompts, sarcastic and condescending comments when they do reply and refusing to answer pertinent questions. This will also form part of the complaint. They refer to sweeping caveats designed to negate any claim that they have failed to identify current or potential issues. We would not recommend this company. Edit In reply to CandC surveyors response to this review. I'm sure anyone reading this review will be interested to know that, although your surveyor checked the roof and stated it had stood the test of time, you then recommend it be examined by an expert. Why? Don't you trust your surveyors? Or is it to cover your backs should something be missed? Which it was. The defect was no flashing between the porch and the building and a pitch of 0 degrees because the wrong materials were used, resulting in leaks. Obvious VISIBLE defects I would expect a surveyor to identify. You even took photographs of them. The reason we didn't get the roof checked by an expert BEFORE purchase is because YOUR expert said it was good. That's why we employed your company. So YOUR experts could identify obvious current and potential defects BEFORE we committed to purchase. Which they didn't. The original 5 star review completed on receipt of your report but prior to our current issues has also been edited to 1 star.

The inspection report was detailed and professional. It included sufficient areas of my concerns. Only one issue with the inspection client cannot attend and seller can be present for providing the assess and information. The so called conflict of interest is weak and I reviewed RISA guidelines only relatives appointed surveyor may have personal interests. Inspection results will not discuss during the inspection to give third parties opinion.

Very pleased with C&C my first point of contact was Heather Martin really helpful and advised me on the best type of survey needed and answered all my questions . I immediately felt I was in good hands. The survey was carried out literally days later and the report and photos were to the highest standard ! the price was also very competitive !! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing their services. and easy 5 Stars .. Thankyou

I've ordered a homebuyers report (level 2 survey). Good experience, first time buying a house and they explained well what's going to happen. Apparently they use their own surveyors instead of being a middleman which seems like a good solution - they've got a higher stake in the quality of their reports. They've arranged a survey within 2 days and all went smoothly. The content of the report extensively described the property and pointed out a few issues which we would have never spotted, so turns out that was a good investment. I'd appreciate if the surveyor called me right after the survey to discuss the outcome, but that's probably the side effect of the price being very competitive - cutting costs a bit (that's my assumption).
