Dec 19,2024My Princess 36 flybridge cruiser suffered a serious grounding accident a mile off the south coast, England. RNLI were brilliant recovering all eight passengers and towing the boat in whilst pumping out water. The engine bay had flooded half way up. The two props had been ripped out leaving serious holes below the waterline. I completed online claim the next day to my insurers GJW. Next day they called to confirm I was covered. Then their appointed surveyor called to say he had arranged to view the boat. Within a few days a quote was provided on line to the insurers The insurers then emailed me the very next day authorising the repairs. Due to the extent of work and availability of spares the work has taken three months to complete. The insurers released an interim payment to enable spares to be ordered. The costs increased slightly as more repairs were deemed necessary. The insurers GJW have been brilliant throughout, never once took more than 24 hours to respond and releasing monies promptly and removing any drama or money concerns from the moment they received my claim. I highly recommend GJWdirect.com to any boat owner that wants "proper cover" from a well resourced, well connected and communicative insurer.
