Looking for furniture in a natural ash finish. Good price and fast delivery time. Packages arrived in good condition. As with all flat-packed furniture, assembly instructions can be inscrutable but in this case were sufficient for speedy finished product. Would use Hip Furniture again based on this first experience.

I only wish I read YOUR reviews before I purchased from hip-furniture. My dealing with them started on 15th February, 2012. Goods were delivered within 2 days as is their delivery policy, this item was puchased as a surprise gift for my daughter, needless to say, we are still surprised by this company! When the battered box was opened there was a black stain on the table top which was very noticeable, I rang up immediately (1 hours after delivery on the 17th February) and they did agree, after numerous telephone calls for several days (8), that they would have to collect the stained tabletop first in order to send a replacement. My daughter waited in on the 27th-28th-29th of February then the replacement tabletop was delivered on the 1st March. The courier was kind enough to allow my daughter to open the parcel only to find that the new table top was more damaged than the original one, she refused to accept and this was returned to hip-furniture. Arrangements then had to be made for them to collect the original damaged purchase for a full refund, once again my daughter waiting in on the 5th-6th-8th and then eventually on the 9th March collection was made. After waiting 7days I contacted the courier, the delivery was made back to hipfurniture within 2 days. I have subsequently contacted the 'company' every morning only to have 'very nice people' saying "how sorry they are", "they can understand how I feel", "they have to have clearance from the warehouse", what excuses!! They received the furniture on approximately 13th March, It is now the Friday, 23rd March, 5 weeks after original purchase.....still NO JOY!!! WITH MY OWN EXPERIENCE, I WOULD AVOID PURCHASING FROM THIS COMPANY AND SUGGEST YOU DO TO. WHY DO THEY FEEL THE NEED TO TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. WHY CAN'T YOU BE A COMPANY WITH A GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPUTATION??. May I just add, I have spoken to Trading Standard and have had a favourable response. I have noticed on this site how they give a 'lovely apology' as a reply, I will accept this if I get my money refunded....(On the 21st MARCH I had an e-mail thanking me for my order and they trust I have now received it and am enjoying it...work that one out for office management....I have spoken to [names removed]

we orded table and chairs in afternoon and it was delivered at about 10 am the next day. very pleased with them.

A stark warning for people who cancel their order from Hip Furniture, Edinburgh. I cancelled my order in January and confirmation of cancellation was given. I automatically assumed that a refund would be issued immediately however 2 months later still no refund. Several Emails and phone calls later with excuses left right and centre but the worst excuse was " we were trying to find you an alernative", even after explaining on a number of occasions I did not want an alternative. Do not deal with these bunch of cow boys. They keep a hold of your money in the hope that you will buy another item even if you don't want to.

I ordered the scirocco set of 2 dining chairs on Sunday and they were delivered at 9.30am on Tuesday morning. Excellent service. I had seen the same chairs on another website for a lot more money so excellent value. This is the second time I have ordered from this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

ordered a bed for my daughter with 14 day lead time, on day 12 still showing as picking and nowhere near dispatch. called several times because we need to arrange delivery for a specific day and customer service just fob you off. they couldn't give a damn. Phoned to ask again about delivery they say they'll speak to warehouse and then don't have the courtesy to phone back. Seriously regret using this company and would never recommend. Time for them to rethink customer service at a fundamental level in my opinion.

I ordered a Lisbon Glass Hi-Fi unit (Black Glass) on Sunday 19th Feb, 2012, and recieved a conformation e-mail within a day or so. The product was delivered on Wed 22nd to our Goods Inwards dept as requested but just left outside Goods In by the courier, and the packaging was clearly damaged, but fortunately the goods were ok. Box no 2 was only opened on Saturday 25th, when I came to assemble the item. The contents list and the actual contents did not match. According to the list, I should have had 6 off of the shorter tubes and 2 off longer tubes. When I checked the contents, I had actually had a 5 and a 3 off. Luckily, the back parts were not as the contents list, and I was able to grind one of the longer tubes to become a short tube, so I ended up with a 4 off short, and a 4 off long. I also had to cut the threaded rod by 10mm otherwise the rod would protrude below the base of the unit. Ok, so the product was not expensive at £60.00, but I did not think that in 2012, I would be modifying a purchased item to fit, and realistically, I knew that spares would be a nightmare to obtain. Although there were problems with the purchase, it was sill a good buy and it does look nice,

Whatever you do DON'T deal with this company. They must be the worst online business that I have dealt with. I ordered a product on boxing day. It arrived and all I can say is, my garden furniture was in better condition! It was covered in some sort of black wax. When I raised this complaint (and sent many photos) clearly not matching the description of the website photos but I was told that it wasn't clear yet I could return it for the fee of £35. After 4 weeks, £8 in calls I found out that the deivery company had lost the table (how I do not know). To say the staff I called gave inconsistent messages is an understatement! Deal with this company at your peril!

Hip Furniture are great when selling, but very intransigent when an issue arises. We ordered and paid for two Silver Crocodile 5 draw chest units in June '10. We were then told that the products wouldn't be ready for 3 months , but we couldn't have our money back until they were ready as they would then cancel the order - so wanting the units we had little option but to accept this and the units arrived in October '10, and now sit in our dining room 6 feet apart. By December the crocodile finish on one unit started to blister severely, whilst the other remains fine, and we contacted Hip Furniture to advise them and sent photos of the faulty unit. Eventually (after 5 weeks) they said the manufacturer agreed the products were faulty and that they would replace the unit BUT we would have to pay for collection of the faulty unit and for the delivery of the replacement unit at £65 each way - £130 total (and the unit only cost £188!). We have insisted that they must be responsible for transport, but after several calls they refuse to pay for collection. Hip Furniture are being totally inflexible and acting counter to their own T&C's and counter to The Sale of Goods Act. We will be taking this further, however it is particularly frustrating to deal with an on-line faceless retailer for whom it is so easy to ignore their 'sellers' responsibility in the hope the customer will give up and not bother to pursue. Our heckles are up and we wont be falling into that category this time. Its a shame as the company has a good site and sell's a wide range of interesting product, however to be a regular customer you have to have faith an on-line retailer will act honourably when there is an issue.

Ordered bed on Monday afternoon, arrived Wednesday as per email. Item was exactly as expected, arrived in perfect condition. Courier was polite..what more can you ask for!

Despite being told you will get your bed tomorrow every day for a fortnight ...still no bed !! The first order was "lost in the warehouse" so it was re-ordered and this too seems to have to have disappeared. Starting to think there isnt actually a bed !! Have now cancelled the order and requested full refund. If this is actioned straight away they will redeem themselves as not the girls in the office fault. Think its down to bad warehouse & courier systems, Beware though - do not order from this company if you need the furniture in a hurry. My little girl is now sleeping on the floor !!!!

Excellent service. Lovely product (Ashbourne dining set + 6 chairs). Telephone ordering process swift and efficient, delivered with care and friendliness. By far best value on the internet. A big thank you to HIP furniture for a job well done and another satisfied customer.

If the bed I had ordered had not been damaged, or even if a repacement was immediately dispatched, I would have been happy, but after the service I have received, I will never order from Hip Furniture again. The bed arrived on the third working day after ordering without any notice. It was just lucky that I was in at the time, despite me calling the company to find out when delivery was likely. Unfortunately though, both the head and footboards had split in two. I rang to arrange a replacement and was told it could take a few days - as the original delivery stated is within 1 - 3 days I thought that this should also apply to the replacement parts. After a couple of days I rang to chase and was told that I should have the parts the following week (a week after receiving the order). That time came and went so I chased again only to be told that the parts had not been dispatched and would take at least another week. In the end I cancelled my order because I just couldn't be sure when/if the parts were going to arrive. I orderded with a different company and received the goods (in perfect condition) the following day! Having cancelled the order at the beginning of December though, it has taken much chasing and frustration to receive a refund, which only arrived this week - 13 February (two months after cancelling)!! I have had to chase this order every step of the way, and haven't always received and explanation or apology straight away. I would certainly advise people to think twice about ordering with this company.

A great item for a great price and really pleasant staff when I called with a query. XPD te courier company hey used were also gre and the courier was very pleasant... Rarer than you'd think!!!

Ordered the Corona bedroom package last Tuesday, was delivered the next day. Very pleased with the furniture, and the service I received from Hip-furniture. Will certainly be buying from them again & recommending to others. Kerry
