Quality experiences – large and small – set John Hall’s Alaska apart. In operation since 1982, nobody covers more of Alaska or provides a more enriched small-group experience. As a small family-owned and operated tour company with a passion for Alaska, personal attention, exclusive remote access, immersive cultural encounters, and included meals and activities are hallmarks of the John Hall’s Alaska experience.
These guided tours travel to all five regions of Alaska – the Artic, Inside Passage, Interior, Southcentral, and Southwest – and with group sizes ranging from only 24 to 40 guests, John Hall’s Alaska provides a more intimate “real” Alaska experience. Wildlife encounters, native cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access, outdoor activities, and the finest lodging in Alaska are highlights of every departure. Combined tour offerings feature six of Alaska’s eight national parks and optional trips to the other two can be added before or after any scheduled tour.
Depending on the itinerary, guests explore via a wide range of transportation modes such as luxury motorcoach, small aircraft, GoldStar first-class rail service, and small private charter vessels. To ensure the highest level of comfort, John Hall’s Alaska operates and maintains a custom-built fleet of spacious MCI motorcoaches that represent the best on the roads of Alaska. Everything was wonderful. The tour was well organized and our guided were great! One of my best vacations ever.
Every tour with John Hall has been exceptional. Not only with the adventures we had but the way we were treated by expert staff. This company knows how to put customer satisfaction first in everything they do and with every tour they plan. After 6 Alaska tours and 2 alumni tours, we want more!!! Larry & CeCe Hall
From beginning to end this was the best. I could not find any fault with this tour company. If my health wasn't so bad, I would take this trip again...
Would not use this tour company again nor recommend.
It was so well done. I felt like we had the most special, magical tour of Alaska. We have recommended this company to many people. First class for sure
It was the best tour ever!! Our guide/driver, John, was so well informed telling so much background info going to each stop! Loved all 3 weeks!
(At the time of our cruise we lived 2-3 wks. per month for 3 years in Anchorage. We travelled extensively throughout the peninsula and had a feel for the state.) This was our first trip along the Inland Passage. These people have the connections and knowhow to make this trip memorable. Never, never go on a large ship Alaskan Tour - if you want to experience the real Alaska, its people and culture. Our ship held 42 guests and we visited 11 communities - impossible for large cruise lines. Our itinerary allowed us the freedom to spend extra time when needed, e.g. on 2 occasions watch whales "bubble fish"; wait around for a large calving and a myriad of other unique water activities, as well as, a plethora of land activities with botanists, naturalists, Forest Rangers, etc. It was all inclusive - minus the bar. We had time to interact with the Alaska Native population and appreciate their way of life. These are all small villages or very small towns that can't handle a thousand or even a hundred folks descending on their area at one time. Great value, unforgettable experience, top quality meals, lecturers and land tours. At the time we took our trip they had a different ship - aged but functional. This did not take away significantly from our enjoyment because the only thing we had time to do in our room was sleep and shower - but it was a lower class experience. I understand that their boat is now a much newer version. Price range depends on quarters chosen - same as any cruise. Our trip was the result of winning an auction - John Hall's graciously donated it to the Iditarod Committee for their fund raiser. I haven't seen large Cruise Lines do this in Alaska. John Hall's gives back and supports the communities. There were so many perks on this cruise that there isn't enough room to list all of them. We spend a significant amount of time travelling around the world - and we make sure that it's not a "budget itinerary or accommodations". John Hall's did not disappoint - other than the aging ship. They're not the cheapest, but they are the best at what they do. We'll definitely be back now that we know about their high quality product.
The Alaskan tour with John Hall's group was fabulous. The tour guide was fun, interesting and really knew the area and the wildlife. We spent out first week in the national park. The bus driver and the guide tried so hard to find animals, birds and even floral for us to see and take pictures. Even if the mountain goats were still in the mountains, they pointed them out and with binoculars we were able to catch a glimpse of them. The second week was a cruise and again all the sights and adventures were well planned and well worth partaking in . I have told many of the great time and hope some will call you for info.
Totally well planned and executed. Best tour experience we have had to date. From the tour guides, tour bus, restaurants and tour experiences, everything was first class and exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to choosing another Alaska trip with John Hall!
We have had 2 tours with John Hall's Alaska and highly recommend them as we do when talking with others. They provide attention to details and make the trip pleasant and enjoyable from the care of your bags to food and accommodations, especially the many varied attractions. Tour drivers and leaders are top notch and quite knowledgeable as well as helpful. Even the little side stops are quite enlightening and enjoyable.
We went a land trip and small boat cruise with John Hall Tours and Cruise and it was the best that I have been on. I have been on 2 cruises and 4 land tours and John Hall tours and cruises have sur passed others by 10 stars for all accommodations from the very beginning of planning to the return to your home. It may be priced higher than others but it is well well worth it.
We traveled to Alaska for our first time with John Hall Alaska. It was an awesome trip. We were treated to the best of Alaska. While on trip, a Glich occurred in the travel tour, but with John Hall, He personally made everything right. We recommend to travel with John Hall tours. We give them 5 stars ⭐️ .
Everything was as described beforehand and was never a negative work from any of our group. Ever event was well planned As far as we could tell went off smoothly from start to finish. We had such a great time we still talk about it and had planned on another trip to Australia and New Zealand, but My understanding is John isn’t planning this trip any longer. A wonderful group to work with, definitely 5 STARS!
Enjoyable, saw & learned a lot. Enjoyed the zip line from top of hill to bottom. Our bus driver & host was very enjoyable & shared lots of info & was entertaining. We had the fortunate experience of flying from Seattle to Mpls & having a John Hall employee on the same plane. We talked & shared our common trip with him. It was late at night when we landed in Mpls & we got a ride home in a John Hall vehicle. We would give you a good recommendation!
John Halls Alaska tours was the best tour I have ever taken! The staff was outstanding from the moment we were planning it till the time we left! OMG just the best! So well worth the price we paid!
Our John Hall's Alaska tour (Grand Slam) was wonderful. Everything was first-rate. The itinerary was well planned, and all the stops and all the activities were fun and exciting. The coach was very comfortable, the food was great, and the cruise was wonderful. Our tour guides (Jeremy on land, Sandy at sea) were great, and they did whatever it took to make sure we had a great experience. This was easily our best vacation experience ever.
I can't say enough about our Alaska trip with John Hall Tours. Everything that is included with the trip is absolutely included, no hidden fees or add-ons, and don't be surprised if there is a little extra complimentary added for your enjoyment. The trip was phenomenal in all aspects, and the tour guides were over the top in making you feel like we were all one big family. You can't go wrong with John Hall, they're the best!
My Iditarod Alaska tour was outstanding! Well organized, great side adventures, meals and friendly, knowledgeable tour director. Stays were well planed and comfortable. I’d do it again and recommend John Hall to anyone
I've taken 3 trips with John Hall Alaska. First one to Alaska, had a fantastic time . Second one was an Alumni trip to Australia and New Zealand. Then another Alumni trip to Hawaii. I'd do all three again without hesitation. All John Hall Alaska employees have been the best. Always going above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. Thank you John Hall Alaska.

Mar 04,2021My husband and I joined John Hall's Alaska for a memorable trip to the Iditarod. This had been one of the items on my bucket list since I have followed the past Iditarod races for many years. I have to tell you that everything from the bus to the hotels to the restaurants and the sightseeing was first class all the way. The staff was outstanding. In fact our plane was delayed but when we got off the plane in Alaska, there was a John Hall representative there to meet us, help with our luggage and take us to the hotel. Absolutely recommend John Hall's Alaska to anyone who is looking to travel first class without the first class expense.
