Quality experiences – large and small – set John Hall’s Alaska apart. In operation since 1982, nobody covers more of Alaska or provides a more enriched small-group experience. As a small family-owned and operated tour company with a passion for Alaska, personal attention, exclusive remote access, immersive cultural encounters, and included meals and activities are hallmarks of the John Hall’s Alaska experience.
These guided tours travel to all five regions of Alaska – the Artic, Inside Passage, Interior, Southcentral, and Southwest – and with group sizes ranging from only 24 to 40 guests, John Hall’s Alaska provides a more intimate “real” Alaska experience. Wildlife encounters, native cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access, outdoor activities, and the finest lodging in Alaska are highlights of every departure. Combined tour offerings feature six of Alaska’s eight national parks and optional trips to the other two can be added before or after any scheduled tour.
Depending on the itinerary, guests explore via a wide range of transportation modes such as luxury motorcoach, small aircraft, GoldStar first-class rail service, and small private charter vessels. To ensure the highest level of comfort, John Hall’s Alaska operates and maintains a custom-built fleet of spacious MCI motorcoaches that represent the best on the roads of Alaska. One of the best trips ever. The John Hall guide stayed with us all the way and made sure we were always ok. Several of us came down with bad colds and our guide went out to a local store and brought back cold meds. Just a great trip.
We had a fantastic time. Service was great throughout our trip. They even helped with an issue we had upon returning back to the motel in Minnesota where our car had been damaged in their parking lot. Upon arrival in Alaska my test meter for my Diabetes was not working. One of their people rush to the drug store to get me a replacement. I was sick for a Salmon bake on shore. When our guide found out she deducted the price for me. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to travel first class and be treated as such. My congratulations to them for providing a very special adventure. Ed & Linda Moline Waukesha, Wisconsin
Very open and welcome to our wishes during the cruise...flexible to meet the passengers needs.
The John Hall Alaskan Tours is the very best that life has to offer a traveler. You are treated with respect and all of your needs are met, and then some! You are given a visual, educational, and a hands-on experience. You’re treated with snacks, appetizers, refreshing drinks and the chef creates delicious meals each day. Dietary preferences are considered as well. I loved my trip, it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend traveling with John Hall’s Alaskan Tours.
Everything about our experience with John Hall’s trip was first class, from booking our trip with pleasant, professional office staff and meeting with our tour group on the large cruise ship to enjoying every single day on the coach with an amazingly knowledgeable and friendly driver/guide and staying in great hotels with tasty meals and delightful travelers.
We went on the trip July 2017. The tour guides mr & mrs Bailey were excellent. The entire trip was first class experience. 14 days each day full of activity, all travel, meals, hotels, entertainment, luggage handling, boat trip train trips. I cannot say enough great things.
There is NO ONE comparable in the travel industry you should EVER book a trip with. JOHN HALL is second to none. Excellent service from start to finish. Excellent accommodations ranging from the bus tour, cabins, hotels or ferry tours. You are always treated like royalty and reapected as such. I unequivocally, recommend John Halls Alaska to anyone who wants a once in a lifetime experience. You'll do it again and again!
This was a great trip. We loved every well-planned minute of it. There was even hot chocolate on our bus! There is no finer way to see Alaska.
Our 15 day land and water cruise was the very best with an outstanding bus driver. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. Example, when someone wanted to take a picture out of the bus window and commented that the window was dirty, she stop as soon as she could and washed all the windows again. I also like the rotating of seating. The constant information that we received and accommodations were the best and I would highly recommend the trip to anyone that loves God's country. Going back into the national park and staying over night was a dream.
John Hall is absolutely wonderful to work with. Tours are well organized and priced appropriately. Questions are answered quickly. Definitely would recommend them and cannot wait to do another trip with them.
First class operation. Highly reccomend this travel organization.
The Tour Guides were all locals in Alaska who lived, worked and played in Alaska. Any questions were answered with real knowledge!
Our trip with John Hall's Alaska was wonderful, so well organized and we seen so much of Alaska. Treated well by our tour guides and the cruise was great!
We took the gold rush land only tour which was absolutely delightful, educational and full of outstanding scenery and wildlife sightings. The accommodations were perfect and food service yummy. The trip back to Denali was especially thrilling. But the best part of our tour was fellowship we enjoyed with our guide, John Gailey, and I am very sorry to learn he is no longer with John Hall’s Alaska.
John Hall made our first time Alaskan experience so easy, we were truly able to enjoy!! They took care of the details so we didn’t have too.
We have been on two incredible trips with John Hall’s Alaska. They were both incredible and will always be highlights of our extensive travel experience. Everything about the planning and execution of the trips was first rate. What other tour companies allow you to order whatever you would like from the menu? We are also scheduled for the Western U.S. National Parks trip in October.
John Hall’s Alaska is the absolute best experience traveling that I’ve ever had. Traveling not once but twice with them so far and more trips in my future. I don’t know what more you could want or ask for from a travel company. My only wish is that I could give them more than 5 stars!
Our trip in 2011 to Alaska and the Yukon (Klondike tour) was one of our best trips ever. There was not one thing to complain about. There were so many highlights that it's difficult to pick one. The Back Country Lodge, Trailbreaker Kennels, seeing Denali, the glaciers, the Salmon Bake, Dawson City, and of course all the fabulous meals are just a few. Our tour manage, John Gailey, was awesome, too.
I was so impressed with the tour my friends and I took with John Hall's. Every little detail was taken care of. There were no extra charges for anything unless it was something we chose to add and that wasn't much. Our tour guides were so vigilant and fun to be around. I would do this again in a minute and would definitely go with John Hall's Alaska. P.S. The scenery is beyond description and we got to see and do a lot

Mar 04,2021We booked this tour because the dates fit our schedule. We picked the land portion of the tour first followed by the 7 day cruise. The schedule of the land tour was jam packed and we were up early and hit the beds late. We were thrilled by how much we saw; not enough time in each place but just enough to make you want to go back and stay longer! Our guide, John G. was awesome! We learned so much about Alaska and more. John was extremely knowledgeable and easy to chat with and ask questions. Our rep. on the cruise was wonderful as well. She was always available to help with tours and make suggestions at each port. The trip was well worth the money spent and we hope to return to this wonderful, beautiful state!
