We booked this vacation for our family of 5, and we had an amazing vacation without a single complaint. I'll mention a few things to consider. 1. The basic 3 star hotel rooms were interesting. With a family of 5 we had 2 rooms each night. Pretty much all rooms in 4 cities had single beds. If this is a problem upgrade your rooms. 2. We loved the Venice boat tour, and the sorento tour that was planned for us. The hop on/off buses are not our style but we used them to get around the cities faster with less walking so was a bonus for us. 3. We accidentally got off our train 1 stop early in Naples and called the company. They got in touch with our pick up driver and he wasted no time coming to get us. We only lost 1 hr total, thank you for that save! 4. We loved this package as it gave us a taste or so much Italian culture. We would book again!
I originally booked this trip through an American company called Elsewhere, which must partner with Meet and Greet. I was explicit to my "concierge" that this is my honeymoon, I wanted luxury and convenience, and that my budget was flexible to accommodate higher end options. I asked her to give me options, because my preferences could change depending on availability. She booked a week long stay in the Tuscany region without asking too many questions beyond the initial information I told her, and given that I am PAYING for a CONCIERGE service, I figured she had listened to my requests the first time and I didn't need to do thorough research on all of her work, given she is the local EXPERT and I am not at all familiar with the region. My mistake. The first hotel was one *I* told her to book, that I had found online prior to working with this company, and was absolutely lovely. The second hotel, which I started reading more about on the day we were due to check in and had a bad feeling about based on the reviews, was the total opposite of luxury. I had told the "concierge" in advance that we were renting a car (thus being able to drive through Tuscany), only to learn on the day we were due to check in that there is no parking allowed in the town where she booked our hotel. I contacted the concierge service in Italy and was basically told to kick rocks, that they didn't make any errors, and they weren't willing to do a thing to help because "no one else ever complained before", meaning they must have a relationship with this property since this is where they send all customers. The hotel has no easy parking (it's down a hill, which is fun with all our luggage in the rain.) It's old, outdated, the walls are paper thin, no air control (hot OR cold), no amenities, very bare bones -- I spent an hour of my time looking up a true luxury resort and we'll check out of here as quickly as possible and into that one tomorrow to salvage the trip. The situation has been little short of a disgrace. They took $11,000 of my money and booked subpar hotels with it (except for the one I requested), and then told me I should have done my own research. They're right; I should have, and I won't make that mistake again. Hopefully this review saves someone else the mistake of every using this company to book anything, as it's nothing but false advertising and bait/switch. I'll be lodging a complaint with the reserving company, as suggested, and doing everything I can to alert others to the horrible service and fraud perpetuated by this company.
This tour is an action-packed, immersive introduction to Italy, perfect for those ready to embrace a challenge. August's heat can soar above 35°C, and there’s a lot of walking involved, but it’s exactly what I signed up for—and I have absolutely no regrets. This has been one of my favorite travel experiences. Traveling alone can sometimes feel lonely, but not with Milena as your host! She is incredibly inclusive, kind, and genuine. Milena quickly understood what was important to each member of the group and made sure we were all enjoying ourselves, offering tailored suggestions and accommodating everyone’s needs. Our days typically began around 8-9 AM, with train travel between destinations (where your luggage is fully taken care of—a lifesaver!) and a three-hour walking tour of each city. Dinners were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the local cuisine, and they were all delicious. I was incredibly fortunate to have both a wonderful group and an outstanding host in Milena. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to allow a bit more free time—perhaps reducing the walking tours to two hours instead of three—and to reconsider the hotels used in Milan, Rome, and Sorrento. The hotels in Milan and Rome were in less-than-ideal locations, where I didn’t feel entirely safe exploring alone, and the Sorrento hotel, though decent, was a bit outdated and required a shuttle to get into town. However, these minor issues did not dampen my experience. From Milan to Bellagio, Lake Como, Venice, Florence, Siena (incredible!), Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri, every moment was memorable. Thank you, Milena, for your impeccable care and guidance—you’re one in a million, and this trip was fantastic because of you!
The experience was so hospitable and accommodating. I had the pleasure of having Milena be our guide and she was so social and happy to assist with whatever we needed. I really love that they have luggage tags available that moves your luggage for you from location to location. It's such a hassle if you're doing it yourself, especially for European summer. I will say, be prepared to do A LOT of walking. It was done at a slow pace so you're not rushed but what made it mostly difficult was the frequent starting and stopping, and standing. It was highly educational. I did find odd was the headphones and you have to carry a little radio around at times. It definitely is convenient when you have a large group, you can hear no matter how far in the back you are. My only complaint is mainly a personal preference, I don't like having something in my ear all the time, so I just stayed up in the front. I will say, if you plan on doing something of your own without the group, what really made my day was how they were willing to accommodate. I wanted to go to Villa Balbianello which wasn't on the itinerary. If you miss something, you won't get a refund but for me that wasn't an issue. The big shout-out was they were willing to pick me and my mom up as long as we reached a certain location by a certain time. They really made it work for all of us and made no hinderance to the rest of the group! I don't think other companies or people involved would be so flexible and understanding as that.
Meet and Greet designed an amazing trip for us and made everything super easy while we were in Italy. Communication was fast and helpful the entire time. I wil definitely use them again!
My wife and I just returned from thirteen days in Italy with our two kids, (ages 13 and 10) and had a trip that created memories for a lifetime. I can’t say enough about Cecilia and how great she was in designing a trip for a family who had never been to Italy before and making sure that our itinerary met our needs. She found us great hotels that were both convenient location wise but also rooms that were comfortable for the whole family. Cecilia was very responsive leading up to our trip and made sure we were well educated on everything we needed to know before we left and provided us all of our necessary travel documents in one easy to use location that made our days travelling easy to follow. While on our trip Cecilia also made herself available for us to ask questions and was quick to respond if we weren’t sure if we were in a proper location for a tour or had a travel question as we moved from one place to the next. We spent three days in Venice, three in Florence, four in Sorrento and ended with three days in Rome. Sorrento was the highlight destination for the whole family with our boat tour of the Amalfi Coast as our favourite day of the whole trip. Thank you for everything Cecilia, your talent, your work and your dedication to our happiness is appreciated more than we can tell you!
We booked through Air Canada vacations..overall good trip. However, we upgraded to 4 star hotels and I would say most were maybe a 3 star hotel. Would be a good idea for someone to actually vet the areas where hotels are situated prior to using. There was a train cancellation due to a strike which was known a week in advance and no effort to proactively adjust our travel plans for us. The excursions arranged for us were all disorganized and the one in Venice was a waste…only 45 mins per island and then 3.5 hours spent on the boat which was going as slow as possible to drag out the tour time. The guide for that tour abandoned us at an early stop and didn’t clearly communicate that we would need change boats and the people driving the boat were unbelievably rude. Please so consider using a different company. If i return to Italy, I would book everything on my own and would not consider a vacation package again
Fantastic 9 day tour of Italy. Melena was a really superb guide who anticipated all our needs. She was very informative and attentive, which isn’t easy to do in a group. We felt well taken care of on our first trip to Murano, Venice, Rome and Sorrento. The ease of the fast travel train without worrying about luggage made our days of sightseeing enjoyable. We saw many highlighted spots with lots of history shared along the way. We would repeat a trip again with Meet and Greet, especially with Melena along for the ride.
Touring Italy with our tour guide Milena was like visiting with good friend. She was kind, very friendly, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Milena was like a big sister as she took care of your needs and concerns. She made visiting Italy fun and carefree. I wish she could be my tour guide on every trip we take!
My tour leader Milena was fantastic!! She was funny, and kind, and very organized. She did a great job with getting us all from place to place (which proved to be a chore at times as people frequently wandered off when we were on a time crunch) and coordinating our monument tours! 5 ⭐️’s for her!! I wish that the cities had been done in reverse (we did Venice, Florence and then Rome) and I also wish we had more time in Florence (one day was not enough time). I was less then pleased however, with the hotels. Our hotel in Venice had dirty sheets, flys everywhere, and our A/C and lights didn’t work, and our hotel in Rome smelled like sewage.
We had the tour: flavor of Italie (saveur de l’Italie) and from the beginning to the end, we were took in charge and everything was just perfect. The hôtel recommended with nice room, very good breakfast. The travelling was well organized and Milena our guide took good care of us all time… I forgot my sunglasses in an hotel and she managed for me delivery… we had 5 to 7 on top of building in Roma… we really appreciate the whole trip… thanks Milena from meetandgreatitaly
Great experience! Overall this tour was well planned and we enjoyed our stay in Italy. The hotels were all very nice and most of the hotel employees were very helpful. The hotels were well located close to the train stations. The hotel in Naples was very nice and close to the train station but the area was very sketchy. Our original hotel( last minute change) was a little farther away from the train station and a much nicer area. The train schedule was very early but the trains were comfortable and it was easy to navigate the train stations. The excursions to Murano, Burano, Capri and the Amalfi coast were great. I would definitely recommend this tour.
The good: we saw a lot of places, the hotel in Florence was very good quality, all the hotels were near train stations, tour guides in Capri/Anacapri were lovely. The bad: This 10 day tour visiting so many places is too hectic and stressful, specially the tours to Murano/Burano/Torcello, and the Amalfi Coast. The hotel San Marco in Rome has new rooms and old rooms, if you get the old rooms then you can feel every spring in the mattress and pillows are a thick as a note book, staff very unfriendly. The hotel in Venice was too far from the tourist area and staff was extremely unfriendly. The Amalfi Coast/Positano/Sorrento tour was spent more time in a car with strangers than enjoying each place. The hop on hop off are a waste of time, they are crowded, have to wait long to hop on and take long time. I would not recommend this to anyone.
My husband and I enjoyed the 12 day Italian adventure. This trip allowed us to see the major sites in Italy which was ideal for our first visit to this country. It helped us to determine where we might want to go back to visit in the future. The highlight of this trip for us was our guide, Constantino. His care throughout the 12 days was outstanding. He looked after so many special needs, and went well above what would be expected to accommodate special requests, allow us to see additional sites, provide sound advice when we wanted to explore on our own, and so much resourcefulness and patience to deal with lost items, mobility issues, and so on. He is the reason for our five star rating. The trip itself is well planned, really enjoyed the train and baggage service. The hotel venues were great accept for Sorrento - it was disappointing that this hotel was selected given so many negative reviews from previous tours. It was not appropriate for this level of trip and this company would have known that. Other than that, I would definitely recommend Meet and Greet Italy to friends and will hope that they are lucky enough to get Constantino as their guide.
What a wonderful 9 day rail tour! Our guide took care of everything from luggage to dinner bookings and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was generally of a high standard and we had a nice small group of people. Only issue was that we had a disabled person in our group which the tour clearly stated was not suitable for
This tour is aimed at being more eco-friendly; for this reason, it does include a significant amount of walking and using public transportation in large groups. I am in my early 30s and very active, and even I was tired after each day! Our tour guide Constantino made every effort to accommodate our large group. He did everything in his power to make sure our experience was enjoyable. He went above and beyond by guarding us closely in public, securing private transportation when the public companies were on strike, and acknowledging special requests from group members. If you have the ability to walk long distances, in crowded areas, on uneven terrain... This is the perfect way to sample Italy in a small amount of time!
Last month we took part on the 9 day first class rail tour of the Italian lakes. I note that another reviewer mentions that there was no first class rail (we did in fact have one journey in first class) but the rest of the trips were business style - reserved seats, soft drinks and coffee etc. Our trip was fabulous. From our first meeting with Milena, our guide, everything ran perfectly. Milena organised tickets for trains, ferries and tours. She was super friendly and very approachable. We only had a small group of 8 which enabled everything to run like clockwork. We could not fault any of the accommodation, everywhere was so clean and comfortable with great breakfasts each morning. The WhatsApp group was a great idea enabling Milena and the group to keep in touch at all times. We had a great time, so much beautiful scenery, walking tours, fabulous food and new found friends. Thank you Milena for making everything perfect.
Just completed the 12 day Rail tour with my wife. There are many good things about this trip. The baggage service, the guides and travelling as a small group about 16 for most of the journey. That being said there are something being over sold and not to the level of organisation or luxury we expected. Firstly these are business class train trips as most don’t offer a first class level. The hotels tend to be close to the stations and a bit out off the cities. Also many a lucky to be 4 stars the exception was Venice but on an outer island. Some activities promised were not delivered some due to unforeseen strikes or bad weather other due to being late to get tickets. Our guide was excellent in dealing with issues that as they arouse such sick people or on person being pick pocketed. However the ability to do extra activities was limited as most of the times tickets to main attractions such as the coliseum sold out weeks in advanced. Preplanning and communications could also help dealing with is. This issue also occurred with some meals which we were taken to one restaurant and not really given other options and had to pay. If we knew early enough we could have made other plans. Overall I found the a good experience and value for money based on the inclusions however with better coordination and communications it could have been even better.

Oct 28,2024My wife and I had an excellent trip on our Italy tour in May 2024 mainly due to our tour leader Milena. She is very organized, an excellent communicator with an amazing personality. The tour involves alot of walking but we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice, Florence and Rome.
