A great way to get a ‘taste’ of Italy. Highlights: porterage service, hotels - especially enjoyed Sorrento and the ease of moving via pre-organised train rides between cities. Day trips to Bellagio, a winery in Tuscany and Capri were highlights for me. Costa was super friendly, organised and easy to communicate with.
We did a 12 day tour through Air Canada to Italy. Meet and Greet put us in 2 really bad hotels and wouldn't help when we asked for it. They sided with the hotels (because they have deals with them). We were followed, tracked, pointed at and at the other hotel, mugged. Meet and greet said "it happens everywhere". We left one after getting mugged and Meet and Greet said they wouldn't reimburse us because we didn't ask for an upgrade!!! These guys are great until something happens then they backtrack and cover their backs.
Venice and Naples leg of our trip was horrible. The President hotel in Venice (Mestre), we were mugged not far from it. My sister was physically accosted. The hotel was disgraceful and smelled of sewage. Not even the toothbrush glass was clean...it had been previously used. At no time did we feel safe in Naples. The hotel in our package was the Stelle. The shower was still unclean from the previous guest. When we involved Meet and Greet in each occasion, we were informed that the hotel blamed us for the problems. It was only when we sent video evidence that the hotel acquiesced and Meet and Greet took our side. Depending on the tour, you are herded like cattle and several of the guides were difficult to understand. Some were out and out rude. Do not pay for these low standards! We are working now with our travel agent, Expedia and Air Canada Vacations to address these issues.
We absolutely loved our tour with Constantino and all the different components. We were slightly disappointed we were the only people on the tour and that it still ran but that meant we had very personalised service and fantastic guided walking tours all the way through and the opportunity to choose what we wanted to do for our free time. Constantino was so attentive and helpful and thoughtful all through the trip with great suggestions and insights. Thank you for a memorable time!
We had a fantastic experience from the beginning to the end of the trip. Many thanks to Emi and Francesco for putting together an amazing itinerary for a family of 5 (that was visiting Italy for their first time) and had the perfect balance. All the hotel we stayed at were great and convenient! We would highly recommend anyone visiting Italy to book through Meet & Greet!
Perfect experience for us The driver Giovanni for the trip at Amalfeti is so great and sweet. Thank you 🙂🇮🇹🇮🇹🍷
A fantastic holiday experience. We enjoyed all the benefits of rail travel without dragging around the heavty bags. Our host Mirjam did a fantastic job with our group.
The trip was good because there was good company and the guide was attentive and took the worry out of our travel time. Italy is a lucky country blessed with amazing sights, the old and the new and style. Food experiences are excellent also. (unfortunately this review was sent in italian: I don't speak Italian)
The 10 day rail tour of Italy was fantastic. The hotels were great the train travel was really good, the best way to see Italy, and our luggage was transported by vehicle to arrive at our hotel before we did. The walking tours for each city after we arrived we very informative but the local guides need to keep the time to around 1 & 1/2 hrs. Some went on for far too long. And we met some great people on our tour. Our tour manager was Annamaria, she was great, very helpful and informative. Whatever we needed she helped out.
The fast rail trip in Italy was a wonderful experience. The Tour leader, Milena, was a fantastic person who ensured that everyone was included and aware of arrangements. The tour group bonded well and included Australians and Americans. The tour guides in each location were excellent and the accommodation was of a good standard.
Our tour operator for the entire time was Annamaria. She was exceptional. Very knowledgeable, friendly, patient and helpful. If a problem arose she was very quick to rectify it. I give Annamaria five stars! The tour also did an excellent job of getting us to, and from the train stations and porting our luggage from hotel to train station and to our new hotel. However, many on the tour missed the fine print where they only transport one bag per person. If you have more than one bag person you are responsible for the second bag. So keep that in mind when packing. The biggest reason I gave this tour three stars is it demands an inordinate amount of walking. They do tell you will be walking, but the amount is over and above anything I would’ve expected. We were walking at least 4-5 miles a day. Our hotels were not close to the sites we were scheduled to see and rather than take us closer to the sites by way of a van or a bus we walked. By the time we would get to the tour sites we were very tired. It was difficult for quite a few in the group to keep up. The other negative point is that while all the hotels are lovely our room never looked anything like what was pictured on the site. In fact, the worst was Sorrento because of where our room was located, it faced the bus station. This was a problem as there was no air-conditioning in the hotel. The hotel did not turn the air conditioning on until May 1. It was a hot day and the rooms were hot. We were told to open our windows. However, that’s not such a good idea when you’re across from the bus station and you smell fumes and bugs are flying in all night. In fact, none of the hotels turned the air conditioning on till May 1 and we were told to open our windows each time. It was definitely not the best solution. Very disappointed in our hotel rooms. Other hotels in Italy, where we personally made our reservations before and after the tour had their air conditioning on. The tour hotels decided specifically not to turn the air conditioning on until May 1. The breakfast at each of the hotels was very good and the tour guides we received for each of the cities were also very good. My main complaint is it was entirely too much walking and I was expecting nicer, air-conditioned, hotel rooms.
Overall our Italy by train tour was great and our tour leader Milena was exceptional, always available to deal with the smallest issue at any time of the day or night. The standard of the hotels varied from outstanding to quite basic, and even at the same hotel the standard of the rooms varied amongst the group. The train bookings were managed efficiently. Unfortunately the time of some of the trains meant that there was unproductive time some mornings and it might have worked better if some train journeys were early afternoon so a free morning could be fully used. Some days were extremely busy with long periods of walking followed immediately by a group activity, and other days not a lot of organised activity at all, we would have rather had the group activities spread more consistently across each day. Having said that, the guided walking tours were a highlight and the local guides very knowledgeable. Overall we really enjoyed our tour and can see that a lot of planning went into making it run so seamlessly, we also know that our knowledgeable tour leader Milena made sure that things worked smoothly. The group was quite cohesive, but it was also larger than we were expecting. We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting an introduction to the main attractions in Italy, but don’t expect any in depth experiences.
We had the most wonderful experience with your company! All the plans that Emi and Francesco made for us were truly perfect - it felt like they KNEW us when they were making arrangements. And everything was so easy too. We are so grateful for the beautiful experience you cultivated for us. Grazie mille!
We took the Meet and Greet Signature Gran tour by rail #1 and our tour guide was Milena. Thanks to her my trip was an unforgettable experience. She were such kind and generous guide. My most sincere gratitude to her for helping me make my trip truly memorable. For all her recommendations, to providing a listening ear when I needed it. The group people on the tour also made this a wonderful experience. We became made a big OG family. Milena did a fantastic job. I’m so lucky to have had her as my guide, my trip wouldn’t have been quite the same without her. I wish her the best. Thanks her again.
The trip was beyond my expectations!! Our tour guide Milena was so awesome, took care of everything, made sure it all went smooth and easy, couldn't have asked for more. Its was a whirlwind trip, we saw so much and it was all amazing! Meet and Greet lived up to everything they said and more!
This tour was clearly labelled as a tour for groups of 8 maximum. Our group had over 50 people and was a combination of an English speaking group and a Spanish speaking group. It was terribly unorganised and chaotic which meant that we hardly got to see anything at all. The day at Capri was particularly bad. In one instance we were told to get on a boat and then after it took off we were informed that we had to pay 35€ per person to see the grotto that we really didn’t want to see. The grotto experience is very underwhelming. You float in a boat for about two hours while you wait for your turn to be approached by smaller row boats that take up to 4 people at a time to the grotto. The grotto is dark and small and the whole experience lasts about 5 minutes. This was a huge waste of our very limited time on the island.
Guide was magnificent. Thank you Costa. However accomodation in Sorrento was disgraceful. Everyone paid the same but we got a prison like room 2 single beds and a table with tv that did not work while others got much much nicer standard. we have pictures if any one wants to see. No assistance form meet and greet to rectify spoilt what was a great holiday up to that point.
I would have preferred paying a bit more for this tour by providing transportation to hotels that were closer to the attractions and not so close to the trains. In Milan it was scary walking from out hotel which was about two blocks from the train to anywhere, it was not safe. The walking tour was too long, I felt the guide spent too much time speaking about the Castle. The excursion to Lake Como and Bellagio was lovely, and extremely majestic! In Venice I enjoyed staying in Murano, beautiful hotel! Murano is clean, safe and quiet. I wished in Venice there would have had time to tour inside the St Mark’s Basilica. In Florence the hotel was again too far from the center of town, and taxi’s are not cheap. The walking tour of Florence was perfect not too long like many of the others. We went to a restaurant that was great, although the walk back to the hotel was 45 minutes. We added on our own The Accademia Gallery, which was fantastic! Loved the town of Sienna, again the walking tour was much too long! It began to rain buckets, most of us were soaking wet walking to the bus. The winery was fabulous, great food, wine and beautiful! An extra day in Florence would be great to shop, or even see the Uffizi Gallery, or a day trip to Pisa. In Rome the hotel was to far from the center of town, the walking tour way to long! Going to all these sights, how much detailed history are we really going to remember? Did not care for the hotel in Rome, rooms were so small and breakfast not good, and to close to the homeless encampment. The Vatican tour was a plus, can’t describe how beautiful it was! The Pompeii tour was good. I should mention that all the train rides were exceptional! The hotel in Sorrento was absolutely gorgeous, in spite of the rain. The selected dinners could have been better. The tour of Capri was exceptional, the boat ride, walking tour, and stopping to have lunch all just perfect! We added an extra night in Rome to see the Colosseum as there was no time during our two days. Our guide Annamaria was awesome!
really a great experience. Our guide Annamaria was excellent. very knowledgeable, very personable and an all around lovely person. Her son Paolo was with here and was a very big help/ He made sure no one got lost and was able to answer all our questions. The places we visited were exactly the ones we wanted to see in Italy. would highly reccomend Meet and Greet Italy.

Sep 07,2023What a wonderful 12 days train tour to our bucket list cities, from Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. All wonderful with its own characteristics. It's good to come few days early and stay behind for a few days to get to know the Country. We have an excellent tour guide Constantino, who is patient, and gentle and will solve any problems you may have. All the local tour guides are also very good. The accommodations are good 3 stars basic rooms , but if you would like to pay more for upgrade room please advise the tour guide early in the tour. It is a walking tour so you must be prepared to walk. If you do not like European heat, don't come in Summer. The business class seats for the train tour are comfortable and a relaxing way to travel. The tour also include many good meals and pay options. Good price tour, worth every penny!
