What is OKA all about? Simply put, it’s a love affair with living well. Since the very beginning, we’ve been on a mission to create things that make time spent with friends and family more memorable. We believe that’s the secret to living beautifully: enjoying it.
OKA started small, with three women bringing unique designs from the Far East to shoppers in the West. Lady Annabel Astor, a serial entrepreneur on a mission to find special items to decorate her holiday home with, invited two friends along: her sister-in-law Sue Jones, whose decorating pedigree included stints at Jasper Conran and Colefax and Fowler, and Lucinda Waterhouse, a skilled horticulturist whose company made exquisite faux flowers. Together they set out to create a catalogue of charming home upgrades.
From the start, the OKA team has called on talented artisans from all over the world to bring its ideas to life. Our furniture and homewares prioritise beauty, comfort and style, but we choose items for their integrity, not because they fit a prescribed look. The magic of OKA is the mix: hand-picked global treasures, rich textures and patterns, and timeless furniture profiles. It’s ever-changing but unwaveringly British; elegant and easy-going; sophisticated but never stiff.
And our name? OKA is a phonetic take on ochre, a colour that nods to the East, yet feels innately British. A blend of cultures and aesthetics working in perfect harmony, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Building on over two decades of collections, 13 experiential stores in the UK, a website, and an ideas-packed magazine, we’ve become a destination for lovers of home, season after season. And the more we continue to follow our passion for design, the more we inspire others to find theirs.
Good and helpful service.
I won’t be buying from Oka again in a hurry! Visited the Guildford store on the Sunday before Black Friday, bought a sofa and an ottoman which were checked and confirmed as being in stock and available for delivery in good time for Christmas. A few days later instead of a date for delivery in December I received an email saying that this would not now take place until end of February 2025! Called up customer services and was told that the ottoman was out of stock and not arriving till February, also told that it often happens that stock is wrong. Nothing could be done, wait or cancel! A few days later my wife popped into the store to clarify and ask if we could take the sample in the store, was told not, as the store likes to hold stock for online purchasers to view. Odd seeing as the item has now been removed from the Oka website. Today I visited the store and asked to speak to the manager but she refused to come and talk to me, was in a meeting so I was told. When I said I would like to cancel the order that was not possible either, apparently to do that I have to call up customer services and do it over the phone and wait ten days for my money to be returned. All in all, poor service and a rude manager in Guildford, what is the point of a store manager if they won’t face customers? We won’t be shopping at Oka again, shame as have been a regular customer till now. Oka clearly more concerned with taking money than they are delivering on money already received. Such a shame.
My purchases were not picked up by DPD and has not been delivered since 10 days. I talked to a representative today. They said it would be sent out right away.
Lovely service both in store at Guildford and when I rang the Bath store to find a sale item out of stock at my closest branch.
First visit to your beautiful store - lovely experience and helped by a really special young man. We came home with a beautiful box of four coffee cups which will be a Christmas present to ourselves as yet we haven’t looked at them so on Christmas morning they will be a lovely surprise.
Excellent staff at the Harrogate store
Great service by shop sales stylist
Efficient and prompt service. Polite, helpful and accommodating.
Nice design and quality. Helpful staff
I wanted to buy a lampshade but was out of stock on line. I then rang my nearest OKA store in Harrogate ( about 40 miles away) Unfortunately there weren’t any in store either. However, the sales person searched and gave me a list of stores that had it in stock. I rang Guildford store and a very helpful lady searched high and low for the shade and eventually found it. This was sent to my home address together with 2 cushions. Very helpful and I am delighted with all my purchases.
Very helpful in finding items we had asked for.
Great packaging and reliable delivery thank you 🙏
Great product, and really wonderful staff!
Always good friendly service & products are lovely!
Bought a lovely lamp and a shade that matched very well. Very friendly and helpful in the Harrogate store.
Delightful customer service
The signs all over your store say "30% Off Everything" in large letters. The tiny writing below gives exclusions, and both the items I wanted to buy turned out to be exclusions, even though one of them had a 30% sign right next to it, couldn't have been closer. Don't know whether I'm very unlucky or the "Everything" is misleading. Judging by the grumbles I heard from other customers on the same point it's the latter. Please be honest and transparent with your promotions, being slippery does your brand no favours. Hoping your new Sales Director is better than the last one.
The staff are lovely, the products are a lovely quality. Not all items in store are on the website which is the only downside.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff - in the Harrogate store made purchasing from Oka a very pleasant experience
