What is OKA all about? Simply put, it’s a love affair with living well. Since the very beginning, we’ve been on a mission to create things that make time spent with friends and family more memorable. We believe that’s the secret to living beautifully: enjoying it.
OKA started small, with three women bringing unique designs from the Far East to shoppers in the West. Lady Annabel Astor, a serial entrepreneur on a mission to find special items to decorate her holiday home with, invited two friends along: her sister-in-law Sue Jones, whose decorating pedigree included stints at Jasper Conran and Colefax and Fowler, and Lucinda Waterhouse, a skilled horticulturist whose company made exquisite faux flowers. Together they set out to create a catalogue of charming home upgrades.
From the start, the OKA team has called on talented artisans from all over the world to bring its ideas to life. Our furniture and homewares prioritise beauty, comfort and style, but we choose items for their integrity, not because they fit a prescribed look. The magic of OKA is the mix: hand-picked global treasures, rich textures and patterns, and timeless furniture profiles. It’s ever-changing but unwaveringly British; elegant and easy-going; sophisticated but never stiff.
And our name? OKA is a phonetic take on ochre, a colour that nods to the East, yet feels innately British. A blend of cultures and aesthetics working in perfect harmony, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Building on over two decades of collections, 13 experiential stores in the UK, a website, and an ideas-packed magazine, we’ve become a destination for lovers of home, season after season. And the more we continue to follow our passion for design, the more we inspire others to find theirs.
Had a great experience at Oka in Chelsea- Katie took the time and helped me pick out some cushions for my new flat as I had no idea where to start. Such great help…thanks so much Katie - I look forward to coming back
Update: ok so the poor customer service continued throughout but the product is absolutely beautiful and high quality. Product was also well packaged and arrived in pristine condition. I will update to 4 stars because it was worth the hassle. Had the same experience as some other customers. Ordered an item which did not arrive, had to raise a query after few weeks to be informed the item is not in stock. Followed up twice already and not only it takes over 5 daysevto get a response, the stick availability date keeps moving. I do not get any proactive communication from OKA to keep me informed on delays and expected delivery timeline. Still no news on when I will receive the item.
Absolutely awful company. No communication what so ever. Ordered a cushion in the sale ,didn't arrive so had to contact Oka to be told ,its no longer available. But they didn't bother to tell me ,got a refund after I contacted them. Ordered a lampshade at the same time and heard nothing since 🙃 Oka ,it's good practice to communicate with your customers or you will loose them .I will certainly never shop there again and most certainly wouldn't recommend.
Great business model with the close interaction between the online and retail sides of the business which was excellent.
I bought two cushions for my new house and unfortunately after waiting over a month I’ve still had no update from Oka and no response from customer service for 5 days. Really disappointing considering it’s my first purchase!
I like QKA products and have always thought of it as a good reliable company However on this occasion (and it is a special occasion) my daughter’s 40th birthday, I ordered a lovely large Decardi ribbed vase which my daughter had expressed an interest in for her new flat . This was ordered on 27th June 2024 with a note attached saying it would be delivered as soon as in stock It got to August and nothing had arrived so I called customer services and she said it would be with me by September 12th although I wasn’t overly impressed by this my daughters birthday was the 21st September so accepted this Again it did not arrive so calling today 16th September as there is less than a week until her birthday and panicking a bit was told it would now not arrive until the beginning of October … to say I was cross is an understatement … This company has had my money + postage since June 27th and my daughter is now going without her present on her very special birthday . I was offered a refund but I don’t want a refund I ordered this product because my daughter wanted it I am so disappointed and I feel so let down I won’t be buying from them again you need to look at your suppliers and reevaluate what harm they are doing to your good name
Nadia, who works at the Oka outlet store in Godstone, provides fantastic customer service every time I visit. She is extremely helpful, polite, warm and welcoming, and it is always a pleasure to see her in store.
OKA is one if my favourite stores, live the room settings, love everything in your store, I can’t always afford what I see as I love the merchandising, so stylish. My friend and I went to the Guildford store, we moved around the store gushing at every room set. We were approached by Meg, who was so lovely, we felt that she loved her job and the merchandise. We got chatting and I showed her a lamp I liked, immediately she was on it and did everything to make our experience wonderful. Needless to say I bought the lamp and came away absolutely delighted.
Thank you so much for your advice and help at your Broadway shop – especially Lisa who was fantastic, truly going above and beyond. We love the rug – many thanks again
We bought the Ivory cutlery set 2 years ago - the knives are falling apart - forks & spoons are all fine Oka are not prepared to do anything although the knives must be a faulty batch - would not recommend them to anyone if this is how they treat their customers
What a lovely helpful welcome from Nadia at the Godstone store. I was collecting from online purchase and ended up leaving with other items as I was shown around the store and shown things I was interested in. Thank you so much for all your help.
The staff in OkA Sunninghill were fantastic. They were polite and welcoming. Laura was fantastic at designing what at where things could go that my wife and i wanted. I would recommend them without hesitation. If there was a problem they tried to sort it out as quickly as possible. If I could give them a 10 star rating I would.
Wonderful advice from Brooke on the daunting task of choosing cushions. Thank you soooo much
My furniture arrived on time by OKA driver Kev from Didcot. He was extremely pleasant and friendly. He took great care unloading and putting together my console table and cleared away the wrappings. Overall great service.
Beautiful products. Carys and Anne were extremely helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended!
We had a fantastic experience with a lovely lady called Meg in your Guildford store. She was so helpful and went all out to help us.
Great sofa and so easy to to buy. Cary’s and Tracey were really helpful and I look forward to receiving the sofa.
I was unable to order a sofa online so I telephoned the shop, the staff member I spoke to was extremely helpful and the manager was able to resolve the issue quickly with no fuss and ordered the sofa for me. Thank you and well done!
Pleased to find Oka were open on a Sunday in Bath and had a very successful trip buying lamp shades for a number of light fittings. Alex was especially helpful and very well informed about everything on show.
