Furthermore, he was always prompt with responses to phone calls and emails and had the patience of a Saint helping me step by step when I felt overwhelmed with trying to understand and complete legal documents. Feb 18,2022Firstly Tom and Simon are lovely blokes. My issues are with time and errors. Namely: Told it takes 4 to 5 weeks to be issued. Approx. 12 weeks later when it hadn't arrived I was told to ring the OPG. I did. It had been rejected because there was an error with a signature. AND they said the timings when mine was sent in was approx. 17 weeks (not 4 to 5). When the paperwork was returned to both myself and PWP you could spot the error. This was not picked up when the forms were sent to PWP before forwarding to me for my signature. I'm quite shocked about that. In October it was reapplied for. The paperwork checked this time by PWP and sent to me for another signature and sent off. All well and good you would think. Not quite. If you ring OPG now the message is it takes at least 20 weeks before you should even ring them. After speaking to them my sons paperwork is waiting for a caseworker as they are only now at September last year (due to covid etc). Its mi Feb now, not too far off a year. I needed this back then. The 4 to 5 weeks was what swayed me as other companies had told me a minimum of 12 weeks even back then. I also know now that it could all have been done online or printed off the paperwork. This case was complicated admittedly as my son was applying for financial aid. SO £200 to fill in the paperwork then miss a major error that rejected it. 10 months later its still not sorted out. I could have just done it myself and made the same mistakes and saved £200. This whole thing has caused massive stress and complications to deal with my sons financial situation so if I stepped back to last year I'd just try it myself. The staff at OPG are so helpful. Don't forget that whatever you pay the solicitors isn't all you pay either. There's then the fee of about £80 odd pounds. Possibly more than once if its rejected. I don't do a negative review unless I think its been warranted. In this case the company colleagues couldn't be nicer but I am very disappointed in the outcome for the money paid out already. There's also no follow up and although I appreciate they must be busy I think in cases where things have gone wrong due to their error they could follow up to check how things are proceeding or have been concluded. All unfortunate but true.
