Global interest in British design and manufacturing has never been higher and Samuel Groves is building on this golden opportunity by continuing to invest in manufacturing equipment to produce the very best cook and bakeware at their manufacturing site in Birmingham.
Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s.
Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house.
Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years.

Contacted via phone, answer machine, although they have emailed me to say I will receive item before Christmas ....keeping my fingers crossed it arrives in time . I have upped my star rating, very impressed sales kirsty on the phone straight away with a tracking number having left a message, arriving today 😀

Dec 12,2022Updated review: Placed my order on the 21/11/2022, spent £675 and used the free delivery option which was the only option offered with the purchase. This resulted in me not receiving any of my order. When I chased SG to find out where my delivery was, I was told it had been delivered, that this was no longer their problem and that I had a raise it with their currier (No proof of delivery was offered). I then had to reminded them that they were responsible for the delivery of goods and the contract for delivery was between SG and their chosen currier. My case was then transferred to 'Ryan' at SG who apologised, informed me that my order had been stolen and was going to resend my items. To date I have only received 3/5 items I ordered and I am still waiting on updates on the rest of my order. Though this issue was not completely SG fault, it was their chosen currier that caused the issues and still I am still without 60% of my items and had to repeatedly push them to get my order sorted.

Dec 12,2022This is a super quality pan. I like it. One of SGs better products. I have a few items of theirs - be cautious on some at the cheaper end of the spectrum as they may disappoint. The quality of the pricier elements of the range is, however, really good.

Dec 08,2022I bought the small Britannia cast iron frying pan as a gift. I have the two handled one myself as well as some hard anodised Mermaid baking trays and a selection of the black iron/ carbon steel pans. The cast iron whilst heavy is superbly made. For ease of use and lightness I do prefer the carbon steel. When I bought them they had to be seasoned ( mine are a nice black now ) They come with fancy handles and preseasoning now. I also like that I can buy a quality British product, helping to reduce import airmiles and support British manufacturing
