Feb 22,2021Iâve used other rental companyâs before but was forced to go with this company due to Covid and inflexible hours with the one I usually use. Not impressed with these points... 1) They insist you turn up at 8am for both hiring and returning vehicles. This is not acceptable at this time as people are queuing up waiting when we should be having less contact. 2) The returned van was not cleaned as I saw the van pull up and was then given to me. The inside was filthy like a builder had just used it. I had to clean the inside before I used it. Unacceptable. 3) They ask for ÂŁ100 deposit, which is ok, but was only returned to me7 DAYS later, unlike the well-known company which is always returned immediately. Again, unacceptable. 4) The utility bill had to be less than 2 months old. Way too picky when some people only get utility bills every quarter, or force to you log online there and then to show them your address! My verdict..... I wonât be using them again! This is from the Romford branch.

I use S&J solely because of their excellent range of vehicles, availability, professional, friendly and reliable service. There is always a risk of issues arising when I hire so many vehicle throughout the year, but I can say that no issues have occured whatsoever. S&J have been a great support for my business and other customers have said the same to me, when I put them onto S&J.

Jan 18,2021Hired a LWB van for 2 days for ÂŁ140 and it was excellent. The van was almost new, easy to drive and was big enough to move a one bed flat to a three bed house with a B&Q stop on the way inc a bed and couple of sofas. We did a couple of trips because we were only moving about 15 miles but could have easily done it in one. More importantly the staff were fantastic at pick up from Ockendon and the whole process was a breeze. No hidden fees (have found this a lot when hiring vehicles) and no pressure to get extra insurance. Overall would one million percent recommend.

Nov 17,2020Poor customer service. Received smaller van on size which I booked. After wheel arches wasn't covered with protection boxes in cabin. Was charged 250 for small dent which cannot happen if van are ready for work. After tried to find solution was assaulted in their office. Police tooked place. Statement on the way. Family gangster business. Rude agresive persons. Avoid them if you can. Just don't erase the cctv as police needed them for the investigation regarding assault. I am ready go ahead. Have full voice record made on this time.

Sep 18,2020Great start until it came to return the deposit. 10 days later still chasing staff on the phones tell u different things each time I called to then be told it would be returned in 31 days due to my bank being A online Bank although Iâve never had issues with rentals previously using the same card staff not very helpful in the slightest wouldnât use again!

Aug 26,2020S&J applied a charge for "damage" to their van which wasn't caused by me and refused to refund. Don't bother hiring from them.

Jun 12,2020Picked up a Luton van, the first of three runs over the next couple of weeks. A very good price, a great fleet of vehicles and seemed very friendly on collection. Walked around the van and was told I could take a video if I wanted, which I didnât due to the friendly approach. (Big mistake). Used the van to move some crash mats. Returned the van at 8am the next day. They went round the van and picked out a dent under the passenger side door on the seal, I was told they knew the vans like the back of there hands and the dent wasnât on the van when I picked it up, I told the guy I wasnât hit by anyone nor did I hit anyone and the dent wasnât done whilst in my care, this is when the friendly approach disappeared. The guy checking the van over said I know my vans and that dent is fresh and it wasnât on the F van when you took it. I was told they have HD CCTV on the front gates so he would check them, I asked if I could see the CCTV Which he replied yes. I was asked to go round to the front office, I waited at the front office door to be asked in to see the CCTV, the guy Stuck his head out the door after 5 minutes and said âyour all good mateâ I ask if the dent was on the van when I pull out and he replied yes, he then shut the door. No apology for the misunderstanding or stress caused. My advice if you choose to use S&J self drive hire, check every panel and video every mark, scratch and dent and donât be fooled by the friendly and accommodating approach when you pick the van up. We wonât use them for the remain runs.

Mar 05,2021This company deserve 10 stars. We had to use them at short notice and honestly they were so accommodating and helpful. When i called and spoke to Steve on the day i never thought they would be able to help us but i feel they went above and beyond to help. We had such a stressful couple of days due to a really disgusting removal company and had to move ourselves at short notice and if my manager didn't recommend us to S&J i don't know what we would have done. I can't thank Steve and his colleague enough for the support they gave us last week Thursday 25th February 2021. You made us so happy and we will definitely recommend and use you in the future đ
