I have decided to write this review after suffering the most uncomfortable sofas I have ever bought. My purchase was made two years ago and was my third sofa, the previous two were the most comfortable I have ever owned. There is definitely a quality shift, the feathers come through the cushions as the calico is miles to thin the zippers on the covers are plastic and flimsy all broke when washing covers. The cushions collapse out of shape, I’m a 15 stone guy and they should put up with that. The frame has loosened and creaks. Very shoddy product that isn’t worth the cost… The agent I bought the sofa from did all he could to get the faults rectified, but you can’t make a silk purse from a sows ear. Be warned, it is impossible to get in touch with Tetrad Directly, You have to go through the agent that you purchased from. I will never use this company again
Emailed early August this is their reply ! Never followers up by them! Reply from Tetrad 14 Aug 2023, Hello, we are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your MacKenzie chair. Please could you email customerservice….tetrad with full details of your order and the issues, with imagery if possible, so we are able to look into this. Kind regards, Team Tetrad
I’ve never had such uncomfortable furniture. We bought the grand and the midi Bowmore sofas a couple of years ago from Jarrolds in Norwich. Yes they have pilled, yes their cushions are awful for shedding feathers, but the worst thing is the discomfort and backache from sitting in the damn things every evening. No amount of constantly readjusting the cushions helps. If I could replace them at the drop of a hat I would! Awful.
We've been really disappointed with the two Tetrad Leather and Harris tweed sofas and footstool that we purchased. Whilst structurally the frames seem very good, the cushions have been appalling. The cushions constantly shed feathers and makes for a very uncomfortable seat. The fabric that houses the feathers is far too thin and the weave is too open allowing the feathers to escape in their droves. The Harris tweed has worn very poorly and every single cushion has holes or signs of wear and this is despite regular turning and rotation of the cushions and quite limited use. The foot stool has experienced a similar fate. We spent a small fortune on the sofas i) wanting to support a UK company and ii) expecting them to last, but we have been so disappointed, we would certainly never buy anything else from Tetrad.
7 years ago we bought 2 sofas and 2 armchairs from Tetrad in Harris Tweed at great expense. The sofas do not get heavy use however, a year ago I noticed that the fabric was developing a hole on one sofa. I contacted Tetrad who told me it was out of guarantee and the fabric was no longer available - I wonder why? After many attempts at getting a reply from someone at the top of the chain, I gave up and took it to an upholsterer who when recovering said that the reason the fabric had torn was that the frame was very poorly made - It has a fixed spring case which has “chicken wire” over the top, which is all bent and sinking, also the foam seat not long enough to reach the wood front, which has caused a lot of movement with the fabric. The fabric also not fire resistant-it should have a barrier over the dacron. The frame is also quite broken, where legs fix, the two front supporting rails are not fixed. Obviously the sofa was mid reupholstery and so I asked the upholsterer to take photos which I sent to Tetrad and showed to the Homeserve technician who they finally sent. Apparently the frame is covered by 15 year guarantee which is invalid because in the reupholstery and fixing of the frame I have changed the original. This really is shocking and I never write negative reviews but feel that this company does not deserve to completely get away with taking no responsibility for their poor product. What a shame the CEO hides behind his staff. I wish I could have given zero stars.
We bought two big Tetrad Eastwood sofas several years ago second hand. I absolutely love them and would definitely buy new ones the same - if I had more money! The feather seat cushions are now rather saggy so I'm planning to replace the foam and add more feathers simply by cutting the bolster parts and stuffing more in. I'm hoping that will do the trick - any suggestions welcome...
I purchased a second hand tetrad taransay harris tweed/ leather sofa which was only a few years old but hardly used and looked new.since i have had it (6 months, and its only me using it at night) it has sagged badly at one side and creaks loudly. the fabric is so thin that a wee hole has developed. I love the look of this but even though it was second hand it was still quite expensive and hasnt lasted a reasonable amount of time. I wonder if there is an option to get the springs fixed and new fabric on the seat area for a fair cost as i dont have a receipt and certainly dont want it to go to landfill. Such a shame as its lovely
I received my Bowmore petite sofa in March 2022. Not long after I had received it I noticed that the material pilled quite a lot which surprised me because I am the only person who uses it. I am 5ft 2 and certainly not heavy. I also noticed that the sofa seat had begun to dip in the right hand corner. I did nothing about this until December when I eventually complained to the shop where I had purchased the sofa. In January they contacted Tetrad. Just last week a technician came out to inspect the sofa. He told my partner that it was his opinion that the springs had gone soft in the corner, he also said that he carried springs on his van, but he couldn't replace the Bowmore springs because they were welded and he couldn't see how they were fitted. He then reported back to Tetrad and despite recording his findings and take a photograph on his electronic device, said it would take 3 days for the report to reach them and 10 days for them to get in touch with me. So much for technology. Tetrad got back to the shop yesterday and said that the technician diagnosed the fault as wear and there is nothing structurally wrong. WEAR after about 6 months!! I am the only person who sits on this sofa, probably for a couple of hours in the evening if I am watching TV. I am now told the technician will repair the sofa in my home. If a sofa can't be in perfect condition when it leaves the factory, how can a repair done in my home be successful and why should it need repairing in the first place. It is my opinion that this expensive little sofa is not of merchantable quality if after a matter of months it has sunk on one side and the fabric is rubbish, I wish I had done a little more research on Tetrad, I assumed they were a good manufacturer, their website says so! I also wish I had bought from a reputable retailer who might have been more concerned at my disappointment in spending well over a thousand pounds for a product which was badly designed and badly made. I am with everyone else, avoid Tetrad.
We purchased a Bowmore chair in 2017. After 4 years of occasional use the fabric on one of the arms was showing signs of wear which we didn’t expect to see considering how expensive this chair was. After contacting the shop we purchased it from was surprised to be told 1 year guarantee on fabric and 10 years on the frame. We also contacted Tetrad who weren’t very helpful and referred us back to the shop we purchased from but got nowhere. We now have a chair with one shabby arm (almost a hole) which we cannot use and cannot sell. What a waste of money for something that is advertised as lasting a lifetime.
Absolutely disgusted at the lack of quality of my Bowmore sofa, and 2 chairs and footstool!! I have the Harris Tweed covering and it's wearing thin and starting to rip. I hadn't realised that Tetrad only give a 2 year warranty on their fabrics but a 10 year warranty on their frames!! So you can have a frame but no cover on it 😡🤬 I'm also having issues with my sofa cushion dipping at the right hand side,, Castellan who is their approved repairer have been out to it on 7 different occasions and it's still not comfortable 😑 DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! 🤬🤬🤬
Love tetrad, had lots over different sofas over the years. Can I get a replacement base cover for the Eastwood chair at all? Mine has seen better days!
The Bowmore Midi sofa we purchased four year's ago hasn't lived upto Tetrad's reputation. Within six months the sofa creaked badly and was replaced. So far we've had two technician's repair the current sofa and it's creaking again. Would not recommend this sofa at all. Disappointing as it looks lovely.
I bought a Tetrad Harris Tweed suite and within days noticed the leg of one of the chairs was loose. Now a year on the leg ahs come loose again after supposed fixing by our local furnisher. Also the settee leg has come loose.Nothing seems to be holding the front legs on. I paid £5000 for what I thought would be a forever suite.Just rubbish.
Having fallen in love with my friends Tetrad (the Vagabond) I started to browse their range. I’ve always admired a classic chesterfield and the Liberty was perfect. We shopped around as they’re not the cheapest but the quality of the leather, the comfort and the general finishing was far superior to any others we looked at. I guess you get what you pay for! We absolutely love it and would recommend to anyone.
We bought a Tetrad Harris Tweed 2 Seater Sofa from John Lewis 4 years ago. Well the fabric wore very thin after 2 years. I put a blanket over to try and protect the fabric but it still developed a hole and rip. The problem with the fabric is it’s thin and woven so once a hole appears it basically unravels. I couldn’t darn the area because it became very thin and wouldn’t hold the stitches. Poor quality especially for the price. Ripped sofa that’s over priced…..
WE purchased a Tetrad Harris tweed sofa from John Lewis, plus snuggler chair in 2016. We wanted a quality product so paid more than we normally would. Sadly we are disappointed to say the quality of the fabric is very poor and the seat on the main sofa has now developed a hole. It started when the threads appeared to wear thin and frayed, this caused it to develop the hole. Despite approaching John Lewis and Tetrad we have not resolved the issue as none will take responsibility for the fact the fabric is faulty and we’re told it was out of warranty for fabric. Apparently only the frame is guaranteed for 10 years, shame they don’t have the same confidence in their fabrics! We didn’t expect our very expensive investment to last only 4 years and would not recommend purchasing a Tetrad Harris Tweed sofa to anyone.
We bought 2 Tetrad sofas and an armchair in 2018. They looked aesthetically beautiful but the quality is very poor. The cushions are very uncomfortable and slip forward over the edge. The need constant plumping up and 4 years later, look very saggy. The cushion on the chair has kept it's shape but even that looks quite flat. I would never buy Tetrad again as they are very poor value for money.
Bought a Tetrad sofa from John Lewis in April 2021 - The Lewis Petite, with Harris Tweed upholstery. The spring rail has already broken at one end. I’m petite, and my husband is of average size, and we have no young children. I therefore don’t recommend Tetrad, but thankfully John Lewis have offered a full refund.
We purchased 2 Kandinsky 2.5 seaters in Aug 2019. Initially, we were very pleased as they were comfortable and looked good. However, in Apr 2020 I contacted them, as the blue washable covers had shrunk slightly in the 30 degree delicate wash and now had white streaks on them, despite being washed, dryed and put back on slightly damp, as per the instructions. I contacted them twice and never got a response. We have continued to be disappointed with the sofas - the cushions need taking apart every few weeks due to the foam sowing through the feathers like a wedge, which not only looks awful but is not comfortable to sit on. Doing this is not an easy task! I am sure Tetrad would say it the foam should not move (if they could be bothered to respond) but all 4 seat cushions are the same, so it is clearly a design fault. 2 years on, we have replaced the sofa's with a different brand. A very expensive mistake on our part. We had previously owned a pair of similar Tetrad sofa's for 17 years and expected these to last at least 10! Sadly, this company is not what is used to be and quality seems very low in the agenda. 3 year ago I would only consider a Tetrad sofa, now I would avoid them and no longer recommend them to anyone. I have given 2 stars is the sofa looks great - until you use it.

Oct 20,2023I purchased a Matisse leather sofa as well as a Yale chair in 2019 costing approximately £4000 in total. They faded terribly within a few months and have now completely changed colour as well as some buttons popping from leather. Contacted the retailer tannahill and sons, obnoxious owner completely disinterested! Emailed tetrad with photos. They did not even dignify me with a typed response, instead a "screenshot" of care guide saying keep out of sunlight. Didn't get this guide and certainly did not get told this in retailers. Awful customer service and product quality!
