My AUTHENTIC Review from an AUTHENTIC Experience Before patronizing The Unlocking Company (TUC), I did extensive research. I was aware of the many reviews of negative opinion, as well as the many positive reviews that seemed credible. Sadly, my experience provided me insights that lead me to believe all of the negative opinions are credible, and the positive opinions are either synthetic or from customers with positive experiences that are a minority of cases. Many of the negative opinions express facts and sentiments that match my own experience. TUC uses the classic bait and switch tactic. You are promised a quick solution, "1 to 72 hours" as they advertise, for a reasonable price ($27.99 in my instance), and "100% customer satisfaction on absolutely every purchase" policy. TUC is one of the few that actually listed my exact model, which led to confidence in proceeding. However, not long after placing my order, I was asked to provide details on how my phone asks for an unlock code. Hmmm, this is something that a well-connected entity, which claims to have access to the "manufacturer database," should already know. My order of 10/5 resulted in an email, subject line, "Unlock Results," on 10/8. This email went on to claim, "after working nonstop with the manufacturer source, A LOT of calls and emails, and trying every server we have that currently exists - unfortunately due to several different reasons - we were unable to retrieve your unlock for this specific IMEI at this moment" (LOL). It continues with "We do NOT REFUND if not found within the original, average, delivery time." This sort of "policy" is offensive to both common sense and various consumer protection laws. If you cannot or will not provide the advertised service, then you refund the customer's money - ALL OF IT - period, cheerfully. But not TUC! I demanded a refund of $27.99, and explained the (il)legal aspects of TUC's infamous threat to blacklist IMEIs over chargebacks. I was offered a refund of $20.00, claiming that $7.99 covered alleged "expenses," with no evidence offered of any such expenditures. Rather than fight them, I accepted the $20.00 refund. Of course, they slow walked the refund, allegedly submitted on 10/9, and only showing up on 10/17. I could add much more detail, but cannot due to constraints of space allowed for my review. And to TUC, please spare me the gaslighting and dissimulation in your usual "responses" to reviews. You, good customer, are warned. *** ADDENDUM - response to TUC: TUC: "you were refunded 100% of the purchase." Not initially. You decided, for whatever reason, to issue an additional $7.99 refund, quietly, no notice. I'm happy I received it, but you initially claimed that amount was for alleged expenses you incurred. I only found out about this subsequent refund by checking my card after your mention here. TUC: "Your Sonim XP3 Plus (XP 3900) is no longer compatible with most carriers within the USA unfortunately due to frequency band issues." This is simply untrue. The XP3900 currently works on AT&T (it's whitelisted), T-Mobile, Verizon, and US Cellular (I have a VZW-unlocked unit, too). Yes, it's LTE only (it IS VoLTE-capable), but there are millions of devices that are LTE-only, and most folks don't need 5G access. The XP3900 continues to be used readily by First Responders and in industry, and AT&T provides FirstNet access to the XP3900. It's not some old, deprecated model. TUC: "T-Mobile has also discontinued the ability to unlock any phone that prompts for an unlock code as they have changed to the “Device Unlock” pre-installed program to streamline unlocking." So why not disclose this upfront? None of this was mentioned in any of your emails, nor on your website. Your website CONTINUES to offer unlocking for the XP3900, and you request the carrier and IMEI upfront. TUC: "You should have received a FULL refund based on our new refund policy or an offer of store credit to go towards another unlock." Yet, when I requested a FULL refund, you refused to provide one, only offering me $20.00. You: "I think it is unfair to come to the conclusion that negative reviews are real and positive ones are fake." You're welcome to perceive my own conclusion as you wish. I have lots of experience with synthetic "reviews" on amazon and elsewhere, and have developed a good intuition about what is "organic" and what is synthetic. I didn't trust my instincts for this "experience." You got the benefit of my doubts. TUC: "...which is illegal in the USA with the FCC ruling." Lots of things are "illegal," yet they happen all the time. I've even been approached personally multiple times offering payola for fake "reviews." I report every one to the relevant platform.

Apparently anyone can come and leave positive reviews? I just showed up out of nowhere. So how do we know all reviews are true ? If it’s not vetted.Or company said they “FLAG” a review. Well what if it’s a + review. Why “FLAG” it ??? . Doesn’t make sense. Just being skeptical here my friends

BELIEVE the negative reviews! This company preys on your hope that they will deliver on their promises. You will see "1-72 hours" advertised. You will see a "100% satisfaction guarantee" advertised. You will pay your money, and then you're caught. This company WILL NOT deliver on its promises. You will receive emails from them with "updates" of no substantive content. You will receive these emails, mentioning their "no refunds" policy and even threats to blacklist your IMEI if you dare chargeback the amount paid when they do not deliver. This sort of business behavior is illegal in most states (this is true regardless of their "terms" you allegedly "agreed to"). As they preyed on your hopes, they also prey on your fears, that by threatening to brick your phone with a fraudulent (on their part) IMEI blacklist, they hope you will simply go away and eat your financial loss. My recommendation - with the strongest emphasis - is to AVOID this company at all costs. If, however, you were suckered in, don't cower in fear. Do that chargeback. Your card company will side with you when what was advertised is not delivered. And if they're dumb enough to actually go through with a fraudulent IMEI blacklist over a disputed debt, they'll turn a civil matter into a criminal act. They can only blacklist a phone by exposing themselves to carrier and law enforcement scrutiny. You will easily recover your money in litigation should you choose that path, as this sort of scam is self-evidently wrong, both legally and morally. They're counting on suckers patronizing them and then cowering in the face of their threats. Such a "business model" needs to be shut down.

I love using old Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and 4 phones. I mistakenly bought 4 motherboards that were locked to T-mobile, Rogers, and Telus as spare parts. Luckily, I saw another fellow Canadian YouTuber recommending TUC. I paid to unlock the first phone to test the water. It took them almost 1 week to get it unlocked understandably due to the age of the phone. Anyway, I was very pleased so I requested for discounts to unlock the rest of my phones. Note 4 were unlocked within a day and Note 3 required I contact them via live chat with my phone hooked up to Windows PC. They managed to remotely get it unlocked in less than 1 hour. My entire experience with this company has been very smooth and pleasant. Highly recommend this company.

My pixel 7a was locked on at&t and had to use vpn for temp solution but they were able to remotely unlock via pc. Temp fix (before TUC was involved) was using vpn but that is out of the picture and now I can enjoy the pixel fully. They work fast and very professional. I trust TUC for my unlocking needs and will use them again in the future.

Oh my, what a process. I will say that this was my own original error of purchasing a phone that was locked and the seller would not except exchanges, so, this was a wonderful option. A couple of critiques would be to have better quality videos so that a person can see clearly what needs to be done. Also, when you were requesting actions concerning the USB, I originally thought you meant on my computer, so I was looking there and then figured out it was for my phone. I know, seems easy, but for older folks, it is confusing. The only other thing I would say is to clear your schedule because this takes awhile, but I understand that these are probably very busy days for you all. Thank you very much for your services.

The company is filled with smartphone unlock geniuses. I have tried two other unlocking companies but they did not succeed with my Galaxy note edge smartphone. This company battled with it and unlocked it perfectly. Very patient and experienced people. I will patronize their services again and again as this is now my one stop unlocking shop.
