Jan 11,2025TravelZoo offers deals of amazing value, with a very straightforward booking process. Every Wednesday an email arrives with the top 20 offers for the week. Particularly good value are hotel stays in the UK, normally including breakfast but often other meals and drinks as well. We have enjoyed a number of nights away in attractive hotels, with dinner, for less than £100 for two people. There are also deals for meals out which can be incredible value -- sometimes less than half price. You can normally order a voucher on line, book the experience then take the voucher along when you go. We have never experienced any hostility because of the money we are saving. More care is needed with offers abroad, consisting of flights and hotels, ands sometimes train journeys from one centre to another. These are arranged by travel agents, and often the incredibly cheap basic offer involves an evening flight out and an early morning return, so a three night break only gives you two days to explore. Upgrading to give you four days, and maybe a bettor hotel, can more than double the price. It is worth checking the cost of booking it independently.

Jan 10,2025Lovely welcome from the staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Not only were we able to drop off our cases but they were actually carried in for us so we could go and park. The room was lovely and breakfast was excellent. Extremely well situated for walking into the centre of York just a few minutes away. We definitely recommend this B & B.

Jan 10,2025We felt that there was some misrepresentation regarding the iconic building of Raffles, as Cafe Leperouse’s building is modern and totally separate from the Raffles hotel, as it is situated in the courtyard/car park of the hotel. If we had not arrived early and had a drink in the bar, we would not have experienced the building of Raffles at all. This would have been extremely disappointing. The menu was disappointing as the choice of dessert were both chocolate. The Yule log was very dry, and not particularly fresh. The fois gras starter was not available, and this was at the beginning of their evening session, and the alternative of a duck terrine was a small portion. The whole table felt disappointed with the experience.
