Feeling much more realistic. Good quality product.
I'm very satisfied with the service they offered to me. All promises done !
Great customer service!
Excellent product (Realplate+ Coated) - makes indoor cycling feel more normal and adds to comfort as well as core workout. My Missus is that impressed, she is going to take up indoor training as well - now thats WAF for you! All this on its own is all well and good, but the icing on the cake was the service from Steve. All my newbie questions were answered with patience and after ordering, my board arrived promptly, well packed and it was very easy to set up. All in all - faultless.
Having used a trainer on zwift for a few year's I decided to take the plunge and get myself a Rocker plate my only regret was not getting one sooner. I opted for the real react+ that has for/arft movement. After a few rides and getting the pressure dialled in it's amazing less is more... The plate is very well constructed and solid fab craftsmanship. Anyone considering a plate go buy I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Answered my questions prior purchase promptly & delivery was reasonable too given the covid Pandemic. So pleased I went for the for/ arft movement it's adds that edge or realism given the surge/kick when sprinting & from high to low Watts. Im lucky enough to own a wahoo Kickr bike and it fits perfectly the supplied Velcro straps hold it firmly in place. To sum it up I love it.
I decided that I wanted a rocker plate with side to side and fore/aft motion. The problem is that a full motion product is pretty costly. I'm capable with woodworking tools and wanted to improve my skills with a router as an added benefit. I didn’t feel 100% comfortable buying the mechanicals off the shelf from a variety of sources. Far better to buy a kit which had been put together by an expert based upon their experience and a willingness to put their name behind the component choices. There aren’t many DIY kits on this side of the Atlantic so why not, in the current climate, support a British enterprise that is successful? It's not cheap and there is a premium price for buying a kit. As a small business owner, I appreciate that experience, quality and support comes with premium products and that it has a price tag and I am OK with that. The kit arrived reasonably quickly. Perhaps a little slower than I would have liked but I’m so used to “having it now” with the likes of Amazon Prime, Wiggle+ and so on. It was well packaged for transit and Steven even alerted me to the possibility of a few bits missing before I realised that they were not there (they were immediately shipped first class). The instructions are very comprehensive, but I would suggest adding page numbers to them. The speed of delivery and the page numbering are my only reasons for knocking off a rating star. The bearings, shaft and clamps come ready assembled and just ooze quality. With just a few tools you can put everything together in a couple of hours – assuming you have suitable rocker plates available. The beauty of the kit is that it leaves the owner with the opportunity to make a bespoke design of plate, at their speed and to, possibly, save some money. I’ve seen many home-made plates on social media and the results are variable. Most people, paying good money for a kit, are going to want to make something which showcases their capabilities. I probably underestimated the work involved as I cut the plates by hand. Working with an 8' by 4' 18mm sheet of birch ply requires quite a lot of manhandling and space. To make it look nice takes thought and time and, for expediency, the right woodworking tools. I could have taken a CNC route, but this would have cost a lot more and would probably have not been cost effective. In all, it took me about six days to build – taking my time and doing it carefully. I commissioned my plates today, with 5psi in each of the balls and a quick blast around the Richmond circuit on Zwift. Right from the outset, riding felt much more natural: the bike pitched around in all axes, fairly similar to how it would do were I on a real bike on the road. I felt like I could and wanted to put the power down. I wanted to get out of the saddle (I seldom did on a static rig) and, my bum didn’t hurt either! Success !! For sure, I saved a bit of money making it myself, I learned a lot and I’ve made a design bespoke for my trainer and I am very pleased with the outcome. If a friend were to ask me to make one for them, I would say no. It’s a lot of work using a non-CNC approach and it takes ages to achieve a professional finish with hand tools. I can completely see why a CNC machined set of plates is the only viable way of quantity reproduction. This isn’t to suggest that the kit is a bad idea. Quite the opposite, it’s excellent and I’m very pleased with what I have achieved. If you are thinking about making your own plates, don’t underestimate the effort required to make nice plates by hand – unless you are an expert woodworker and have a large workshop full of the right tools.
Received my realplate+ on 30th December which is really impressive considering I only ordered on the 23rd. Set up instructions were easy to follow and quality of the product seems to be excellent. On the first ride it does feel odd to begin with, I was convinced I might fall off the bike. However an hour in to the ride it feels more natural and makes riding on the turbo much more comfortable and less demanding on the knees. Overall very pleased.
Like many cyclists, 2020 was the year that I took my hobby indoors. I splashed out and bought the Wahoo KICKR smart bike because you can set it up to exactly mimic your road bike. It scores highly on that count but one thing was missing - it doesn't *feel* like my road bike. Specifically, it doesn't move underneath you. The main issue with this is a sore butt - any ride longer than an hour was really painful - but knees and back both felt it too. Then I heard about rocker plates so I started doing some research - and as with all things sports tech, I started off with DC Rainmaker. In short, he's a big fan of rocker plates but makes the key point that side-to-side movement is not enough - you also need fore-aft movement. So that became a must-have feature. I first came across TurboRocks via the many positive comments on the FaceBook Rocker Plate group - they all cited the excellent product quality and the superb customer service from owner Steven Murr - so I placed my order. I'm pleased to say it's all true - it was delivered quickly, it's a well engineered piece of kit and Steve is a pleasure to deal with, he really could not be more helpful. When you start using it, it does feel a bit odd but you soon become accustomed and now, four weeks in, I could not live without it. You may find cheaper but you will not find better value for money and I have no reservations in giving this 5 stars. Bravo!
Service. The service from TurboRocks was fist class. The website use and purchase process was fast and convenient, as was the delivery of the TurboRocks Realplate Mini. Products. I delayed leaving a review of the product itself until I had thoroughly tested it. My Tacx Neo setup is a bit different from most in that I don't use a front wheel in order to save space. My front fork clamps into a (now somewhat superseded) tacx fortius i-magic steering frame. However, as this has two feet, it resists the rocking motion allowed by the rocker board. The solution was to sit the steering frame on 3" of yoga blocks, so the front and back of bike are at the same height and can rock in unison. My last fine-tuning was to gradually reduce the pressure of the inflatable spheres so that the bike rocks in the natural way - i.e. the bike leans opposite to the pedal in the power phase. I have this working well now. Possible Improvements. As I said above, space is a big isue for me. The TurboRocks accommodates lots of different trainers, and so is bigger than it perhaps needs to be for your particular trainer. If I have one wish, it would be to make models specific to the trainer to optimise space. Maybe that's being pickly though, as it does give me the option to change trainers in the future. Another nice touch would be to include self-adhesive felt feet pads to accommodate floors which aren't perfectly horizontal. My floor is a bit all over the place, and installing the feet allowed the spheres to be inflated equally. Overall. I am very happy with the purchase. The RealPlate Mini has improved my indoor cycling experience and made it more comfortable than it was before. You might think you can make one yourself, but your effort will come at a high opportunity cost (i.e it will take you ages) and it won't be anywhere near as nicely finished as this. On that basis, I think it's very fairly priced so have no complaints there.
Customer service just how it should be. Speedy and helpful responses to queries, spot on estimate of delivery and really good packaging. The rocker plate is very well finished, and the fixings make it simple and secure to set up. I've used it for a few weeks now and can thoroughly recommend it. The ride is a much more natural experience as well as being more comfortable. Top marks so far... thanks Steve, it's a great little business you've got...
Great product, fast delivery to Germany and an amazing customer service.
Excellent service. Fast shipping. Nice product
This is a most amazing company. I ordered a rocker plate ready for a Christmas present, unfortunately it was lost by Hermes, I informed the company and within 36 hours another arrived, the rocker plate is brilliant. I was going to purchase one from Wiggle but had some questions I needed answering. I asked Wiggle various questions including whether my trainer was compatible with their plate but not one reply....... Turbo rocks customer services are second to none, whether it's an email or a return phone call, they contact you within hours. They are very knowledgeable of their products and give you total faith in purchasing. I would definitely recommend this company if your in the market for a rocker plate. Chappeau to Turbo Rocks.
Amazing product !!!
I purchased Realplay React DIY kit in autumn 2020. Steven in Turborocks was really helpful from the beginning. He answered my questions quickly and after ordering send me instructions via e-mail that I could start working with the plate while waiting the hardware to arrive. The rawmaterial for my board is birch plywood, which is hard wood and easily available in hardware store. Cutting and sanding of board was simple. After drawing the shape of the board with lead pen, I used jig saw and orbit sander. I did not have a router available to draw a centerline, which would have been handy. Centerline is important to remain unchanged during surface finishing before you have drilled holes. I've never ever seen anywhere so detailed and well illustrated instructions that came with this DIY kit. If instructions are followed step by step, it's nearly impossible to fail. Building and varnishing took a few days and was actually fun. I can recommend boat varnish for finishing. It makes wiping clean easy after riding sessions. I have been using Realplay React about 40 hours now. I can confirm that it totally changed the game. You can't even compare to riding with and without it. The way that it moves when cycling feels natural. Movement is even emphasized when driving off-the-saddle. I think that the feeling you get is the closest to the road riding you can reach when riding indoor. I'm living near Arctic Circle which means that winter time, when roads tend to be icy, lasts here at least five months. Therefore I've got several months time per year to "enjoy" indoor riding. Realplate React is definitely a must-have gadget if you like to or you don't have any other choice than to ride indoor.
Not had a chance to set up and use the rocker plate yet as currently renovating my garage gym where it will be used. However ordering and delivery was easy and delivered on time. Will update review once I’ve set up and used the rocker plate.
Really good product which does a great job. I opted for the unit with forward and back movement as well which I strongly recommend. Good communications with the company and easy set up and instructions. Definitely a really important thing to have if you’re serious about the indoor training.
Great product, fast delivery, up and running in 10mins and such a great riding experience highly recommend these guys
From ordering through to delivery Turborocks rocked! I'm loving using the Realplate!
