At Village Vet, we pride ourselves on always striving to match the needs of both you and your pet, providing special vets for your special pets
My family and I have been using this practice for over 20 years and always got the best service you can get.
My dog is being treated and monitored by Dr Sheldon Bunting from Village Vet Highgate. I can say that we finally managed to treat and get under control 3-4y problem of my dog's ears that nobody couldn't do before. So for us it's an incredible relief! We've had a range of problems that Dr Bunting gradually came up with a treatment with and it's been a smooth process mainly thanks to the way the clinic works - all with kindness, help and love to animals! All staff is very friendly, Lucky (my dog) is happy to go to the vet and always first to greet everyone there! I would recommend if your pet needs consultation to visit Highgate office!
Whittlesford vets - I have been incredibly impressed with the service and attention my cat received today I have recently moved from a different local vet as the service there was unsatisfactory and not at all caring, I've found that the Village Vet here in Whittlesford is much better, my cat has been well looked after, they staff are obviously all animal lovers and were very friendly, everything was explained to me patiently so I know exactly how to administer my cats medicine I am now transferring all my pets here! Yes it's pricey if you don't have insurance but lesson learned and I have now gotten insurance for all 3 of my cats :)
Harriet at the Berkhamstead branch is the most amazing vet for exotics and small furries. She is compassionate, caring and a genuinely talented vet. However I would only every recommend to use Harriet or Jude at the St.Albans branch as they treat your special pet with the care, respect and love they deserve. They understand how special your pet is and are compassionate towards the owners, in what are often difficult times. Well done fabulous ladies, the male vets have a lot to learn!
I m so disappointed with the customers services by phone. The Lady on the phone was very rude. I just check up my cat two weeks ago and doctor was great and gave me antibiotics for my cats, which can be cover for 10 days. That supposed if I need more just need to get the prescription with them. So, according to the instructions by the vet... I called the vet village in Harrow road ( near to Kensal Green). That started my nightmare, at the first call the said they will provide me the prescription and then they will let me know to collect it. After 1h a rude receptionist (whoever) called me and said that they cannot give the prescription because they need to check up my cat again. So, fair enough, but I asked if i will be charged for that.. she said yes plus all the supplements that the cat will need. I said it is not fair, because I know what she has already (it was cold). Which I don’t understand because she got the flu vaccination with them and it came back. Also l, I pay monthly £17 to be covered the check up routines. I had an argument with the lady by phone and she was really rude saying me that I have to pay, to insist. The way she talked it is like she doesn’t even care, they want to make money on you every single time. Other day , I just need to get a lick lick cat food quick ( little sachets). She doesn’t even sell me, only by appointment ( which the vet doctor told me that I could get it any time at the clinic ). They do not make things easy. I do not recommend this vet anymore to no one. At the end i cancelled my subscription ( waste money for nothing, because they will keep charging you for any check up’s). And the sachets which cost £3,79 over there, you can find on Sainsbury for £1, the same. Such same about this clinic. Bad really bad
I took my beloved dog to Village vets St Albans hoping for a great service. Never again. My dog is now petrified going to any vet because of his experience there. A vet attended to him. Dragged him in the vets. I could hear my dog yelping. When the vet fetched him out my dog was all wet and smelt of urine. The vet said he peed himself which he has never done before. I am still very upset with him. How he hasn't been discharged after all the complaints made against him I will never know. Avoid it like the plaque, seriously. All they want is your hard earned money to add to there £50,000 plus salary they get every year.
Awful service, they only care about your pet until they take payment. They have chosen to operate as a money making factory rather than a caring animal clinic. It might be fne for a routine check or vaccinations but after the medical nefligence they demonstrated I would not trust them with anything more serious. Avoid if you can don't risk your pets health.
As always this vet is a financial institution. They over charge all the time, they do way more tests than needed. My sister in law is a vet in Lincolnshire and says half the things they suggest are totally unnecessary. Absolutely horrendous. Avoid.
We got a big bill but no real treatment was provided and our vet thinks that no treatment was given. Something clearly does not add up in this practice!
Make sure you get copies of the medical records and put a data subject access request. You have a RIGHT to know the information about your pet and any DRUGS given. Also you have the right to know the data they have about you. If your pet dies, get an independent post mortem exam away from them - Check the LEVELS of medications given. Village Vet Brook Green The team at Brook Green are beyond amazing. We got our little puppy in May last year and she had tummy issues that persisted for weeks on end. We had many visits to the vet although despite it being a tough time for us as "paw-rents", our little dog somehow LOVED her trips to the vet. So much so, we'd go for our daily walks and she'd run up to the entrance waiting to say hello to Carl, Kerriann, Holly and whomever else! Kerriann is an amazing nurse! So is Carl! We have had lots of great advice from them and our dog, Baguette is obsessed with them. They have always eased our worries and have always taken excellent care of her. Now that we have moved out from the area, we miss seeing the happy faces and Baguette for sure misses getting cuddles and treats from the team. Thanks for being amazing!
Amazing, caring service, yes it costs a bit, but hey that's the treatment for you. What's an animals life worth. I adopted a cat, and we had flea and worm treatments, microchipping and vaccinations, and everything has been thoroughly explained to me at every step of his treatment. The staff are friendly and thorough. Would recommend to anyone.
Took my German Shepherd dog there as he had a limp. We went through various x-rays and scans with our former vet and nothing was explained to us. Village vets took the time to explain the problems to us and put a plan in action so our dog has an excellent quality of life. Very impressed.
It's good that VV in Belsize Park is open on a bank holiday when our usual vet is shut, but it's worth driving further for another surgery. It was in the notes and explained again that our pet suffers badly in kennels but the vets were slow to act, pet was kept over several nights unnecessarily, which made things worse by bringing back a historical condition. Several options were tried with no success, and we let the vet know when our insurance maxed out, then the vet changed tack, and the cheaper options found the solution! It would have been wise to pursue this sooner, for the cost and the comfort of the animal. It took the clinic weeks to sign and send the insurance claim, then we discovered that it was never received by the insurer (unclear why), so we were waiting 5 months to get back our substantial outlay. It's not the staff to blame per se - there's never enough admin or vet staff around to tackle the workload they take on. Someone is making a huge amount of money from this surgery and needs to put it back into the service.
This review is only for the Winchmore Hill surgery. I have had dogs for 30 years and have been to most of the vets in and around Enfield. For various reasons I decided to change to Village Vets when my young dog was about 18 months old. This was about 11 years ago. I wasn't happy with the diagnosis i had with the original surgery and felt it was right to change. I am so happy I did. I have always been treated respectfully and I can honestly say that my dog has been cared for kindly on each visit. Unlike my previous dogs he never minded going, in fact he enjoyed the attention. I noticed some of the previous reviews mention how expensive it is. I agree that it is expensive but you can always ask for an estimate and if your not happy then go somewhere else. When I first went there it cost the same as my previous vets and after that I never compared the prices as I wouldn't change. Each vet is different and I would always try to ask for the same vet for continuity of treatment although towards the end of his life everyone knew and loved him anyway. If you read this review because you are looking for a vet then I would suggest some points. VV in Winchmore Hill is open weekends, including Sundays and evenings. They have a dedicated night vet and nurse to care for your pet through the night. Some years ago I left a dog overnight at a vets in Enfield and he died. I wasn't told that the surgery wasn't staffed at night and would never have left him had I known this. There is parking, maybe not high on every ones criteria but its no fun carrying a sick dog if you can't park nearby. There are other surgeries in their group with different specialisms. I have always found everyone kind and caring from the team on reception to the nurses (who my dog adored) to the vets who gave him the utmost care and attention. My dog died in early April and I know that he was looked after to the very end of his life. Even though this happened at the beginning of lockdown and so many different procedures were in place I was not forgotten. I had phone calls and messages checking how I was. I would without question recommend Village Vets in Winchmore Hill. I will certainly return with my new puppy.
Took my cat who we thought had a deep cut on its head to the Hampstead branch. The night staff were overworked, unprofessional and were not concentrating on the task. The consultation at the beginning was rushed and they vet couldn't tell us whether it was a cut or not [yet we were still charged full price]. We weren't able to ask any questions about this and were told just to sign the contract. The receptionist was unprofessional - she told us the details of an horrendous case that she was dealing with at the time and was uncaring about it, too [in particular a cat who'd been missing for 3 months was dying and she just told the owner 'we're an expensive vet, there's nothing we can do']. She was rather smug in telling this to us [we didn't ask for this story]. But she's not wrong. The point is that this vet practice doesn't really care about your pet, it's a business first. And that is what it is. The second examination by the doctor who anesthetised our cat and was going to operate on him didn't bother to look that it wasn't in fact a cut, but instead just the cat's skin. They charged us full price [a huge amount] for very little work. It's our fault for going there, it was the wrong choice for us. If you aren't 100 per cent sure that your pet is dire need, don't bother going there. I should have written this review before. We never received a client ID or a receipt.
11/12/2020 UPDATE: For a fair and honest review I thought I would also write that after my review the Clinic contacted me. One of the resident Vets who has seen my cat before was kind to call me back and arrange to see my cat and let me stay with him during the procedure. This time around it only took a blanket to wrap him in and a little soothing. The Vet managed to get his blood in one attempt and he did not even have a puncture scratch the next day. Going forward I will ask to book appointments with a Vet that has seen my cat before. My Cat was a bit feisty after the blood test - granted that - I have never seen him so crossed before in 10 years, no one likes a blood test, however as soon as we were out of the door he was purring in his bag!!!! 02/12/2020 I have been a client of a particular branch of this Practice since it was owned by a lovely Swedish Vet. Over the past few years it has become part of a bigger group and I have had hit and miss experience with the ever changing staff there. After so many years of brilliant Vets, things seem to have changed recently and something happened today that really made me lose my patience. About a month ago I took my 10 year old cat to the Clinic for a blood test, I was not allowed in the room with him and had to wait outside. After a while the cat was returned to me and the Vet said that she could not take a blood sample because he was trying to scratch her and the nurse and would not let them do it. My cat is a 10 year old jolly moggie that has been to the clinic many times, met many vets and never had an issue. He has never scratched anyone or shown aggression to anyone. I was very surprised and asked to be in the room with him but was denied so ( some Covid rule). They said he needed to take a tablet for the test to be done. I have been asked to book him back in to try again. When I got home I noticed that they had scratched his neck badly in the attempt to take the sample and he now had a massive gash on his throat that he did not have before the consultation. I was furious because nothing like that ever happened before. It took me a month to calm down and let the gash heal. I called again to ask that I be let in the room with him and that another vet try. The very very rude person who spoke to me on the phone (and did not introduce herself) cut me short and just said that if my cat was aggressive (when I said my cat is not aggressive the lady on the phone snapped back at me "that is your opinion") they would only do the blood test with the tablet ( I don't want him to take a tranquilliser for a blood test) and that I would have to pay for taking up the vet time even if it was the Vet's fault not being able to do the job the first time and giving a massive scratch/scab to my cat that took a month to heal!!! I am very disappointed at the way they have started treating people and I am not sure I want to go back because I don't feel I can trust in them anymore, it feels they are just trying to charge as much money as they can. I am not saying these words lightly and wish it did not come to this but I am very upset at the lack of empathy the person on the phone showed, and did not even let me speak! It is not the first time I question the bills either! Little small things that chip away at the trust, like charging for things sometimes without telling/asking first. The fact that every time I go there there is someone different does not help building a good rapport either because it does not feel that they care that much anymore. It has felt like this for about a year now.
Horrendously unprofessional, My complaints ignored. I had a critically injured animal whom they did not want to treat. Vet tried to tell me they were not our closest emergency out of hours practice even though I knew they were and had used their services before. Vet diagnosis was euthanasia, without even checking with diagnostics, when we demanded a second opinion we were told they could make a referral to a hospital but X-ray would be needed (More costs). I fully explained to vet and nurse we had insurance but vet demanded payment before allowing us to leave and rush beloved pet to hospital. Please do not ensure the safety of your pets with this surgery as they totally disregarded our animal welfare, the love for our animal and our complaints. They charged double for Exactly the same services provided by the hospital they referred us to. I will be reporting them to the royal college of veterinary surgeons. They unnecessarily have caused much suffering and distress.
It's a shame to have to give only 1 star as their veterinary staff are (on the whole) very good. However, attention to customer experience and opaque pricing let them down. What's more they refuse to address customer pricing complaints even when in the wrong. If you can find an alternative practice I suggest you avoid these guys. And if you do use them know that their Pet Health Care Plan is not really worth it. They offer 6 monthly check up "included in the plan". However, this is only included if the pet is 100% healthy. If something even minor is found - or if you mention any kind of ailment - they immediately charge you a consultation fee for the same check-up. Also, they have no manageable escalation procedure for complaints. Any pricing queries are handled by the medical director and not the admin staff (in my case I was overcharged on my card and no one could issue a refund). The medical director is clearly very busy and in my case only replied after 6 weeks when I cc'd half their surgeries in my 4th chaser. They are focused on making money, and use locum vets which likely work in other practices in your area. Update 22/02/21 Rather than actively and constructively addressing the issues raised above VV simply added a template response below (the same as for all other neg reviews on here) and then ignored my emails. Then today I am advised by Trustpilot that VV have attempted to have my review removed using legal methods. I have the email correspondence with the Medical Director and will provide a link to it here should VV continue to aggressively attempt to remove my review instead of handling (and resolving) my complaint.
