I have used Ark Pet store in Gillingham now and again since the Maidstone branch at Notcutts in Maidstone closed down .Every time I have been in there I have been subjected to a rude couldn't care less attitude , today was the last straw, I went and enquired if I could purchase a cockatiel which was in store with its parents and siblings , obviously I could not have it yet it was far too young, but I made it clear I was willing to pay for it now and willing to wait , I was told by a young girl full of attitude that they were not for sale ,she said they were going to be used for breeding and even if they were they couldn't be reserved or paid for in advance and they couldn't be sold until they were 15 weeks old .I told the assistant that I had purchased 2 cockatiels from the Maidstone branch last year and was told they were 12 weeks old , maybe the gentleman who served me got it wrong ,ok we all make mistakes, but this girl with blue streaks in her hair was talking to a couple before me, I was standing behind them and they said they would let her know of their decision in a couple of days after she had given them the prices of the cockatiels I am talking about, I will never go there again , this girl needs a training in customer service and a big helping of good manners, Before my retirement I was a customer services training officer, I would of shown her the door
As others have said, customer care is totally abysmal. I was due a refund for an item no loner available. Umpteen telephone messages left, they never replied. Emails sent,never received a reply. Very frustrating and annoying, after all, I was entitled to the refund, they were quick enough to take my money! I have ended up going to my credit card provider for the refund. This is utterly and totally unacceptable. In my mind this is theft by Ark. I will never, ever shop with them again, NEVER.
Staff rude and useless. Took nearly 6 months to receive a refund for a faulty light I received from them as they claimed it had to be sent to manufacturer for testing. They then informed me that the light had been lost. I eventually received a refund 6 months later. Would never use this company again
Ordered an aquarium hood it took 3 weeks from ordering till arriving by courior. It arrived in a few sheets of bubble wrap and parcel tape it was cracked broken filthy and too dangerous to use. I had to go to my credit card company as they were of no help. The website was taken down the phones rang out.
At present I would advise not to use. Do not answer phone or email still waiting order from 21.06.17. Assume in administration so beware!
I think you'll find they're no longer trading. Time to contact your bank for a section 75 claim.
I had ordered some items from arkpetsonline. I have had no emails saying my items have been dispatched and no responses to any emails/voicemails. Do not use this website . Appalling service. I am now trying to get my money back.
Still waiting g for a refund of £299 as tank was out if stock been I've two weeks I will go to there shop contact there local paper and poilce as there commiting fraud no refund takes 14 days getting no replies now I will go to there shop and take £299 if there stock bunch of con artist
Don't usually review but given the number of bad reviews I felt it was only right to try and redress the balance a little. I had ordered a number of items prior to reading the bad reviews and feared the worse. This seemed to be the case when my order status hadn't changed from 'pending' 3 days after placing my ordering. However I then emailed and received a prompt reply. I was told the main item I'd ordered was out of stock but was immediately offered an upgarde for the same price as my original item which I accepted. I was then told items would be despatched immediately. They were and then received the following day. So, all in all, happy getting the things I wanted cheaper than anywhere else fairly quickly with free delivery (over £30). One star off for the lack of initial information and misleading info on the website (which still showed item in stock).
Order was placed on 30th April 2017, it is now 6th June and still haven't had my order!! Have sent 2 emails with no reply! Have just managed to speak to someone in the shop who went to investigate! After 5 min came back to phone and said they were awaiting an item to be delivered to them and I will get order next week!!! VERY VERY BAD SERVICE.. won't be using them again!!
The website clearly states Free delivery on all orders over £30.....in seeing this I went ahead and ordered a terrarium at £128.99. All the way through the order process it stated free delivery. I then received an email stating that I could pay online or pay the driver a delivery cost of £60! I called the company to investigate this and as it was a Saturday, they couldn't help me as online orders were only dealt with on weekdays. I emailed and received a rather rude response when I expressed my disappointment in such a charge when the website stated all orders over £30 were free. I asked for the order to be cancelled and when the refund would be received. I was told it would be within 14 days (which also seemed excessive when I had paid on a debit card and these can be refunded instantly). I had to email again on day 14 as we hadn't received our money back. Day 15, the money was received. Overall, there was no customer service, just very rude staff.....particularly Jo Hammond. In my opinion, I'm surprised they still have a business!
I picked up an Indian Ringneck parrot in London and stopped to buy a supply of food for him. This is my first ringneck, so I went in to Ark Pets in Maidstone to ask advice. I was advised that ring necks are general parrots and was sold a BIG bag of general 'parrot food' for £10.95. 3 days later and my poor ringneck had hardly eaten anything. I went over to pets at home and asked their advice. Only then did I discover that ringnecks have their own special dietary requirements, and that what I had been sold was more akin to Mackaw food! Moral of the story - the guys in Arkpets have NO IDEA what they are talking about when it comes to bird nutrition; they are just sales assistants with no pet experience. I'll stick to researching and buying branded products online or from a pet shop that knows what they are talking about.
Took money then asked for more. They didn't notify me until I contacted them 1 week later. They wont refund me and I wont send the order either. Nothing but thieves! Iwould never deal with them again.
Still waiting on promised refund of £137, from ark pets online, this morning I phoned the online phone number off ark pets online 08452608333, a female answered the phone and said that I'd gone through to the shop and that ark online is nothing to do with them, and that ark online had some how connected there phone number to the shop, do you really think it is possible for someone to connect to your phone number without authorisation and do really think I'm that thick to believe the lies, (bearing in mind this was only mentioned once she realised it was a complaint). She then went on with the conversation saying that she couldn't hear me 😡 I then phoned the number back and guess what there was no answer😡 I then phoned the gillingham store the male was much more helpful and agreed with me that the stores were connected to the online store and this shouldn't be happening he took my order number and phone number and said he'd try to contact a manager for me and ask them to give me a call! Ark pets please just stop lies and the hiding and just pay me the money back that you owe! I'm a hard working individual that can't afford to be ripped off 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Ordered Friday arrived Tuesday. Answered my e mails straight away. A bit of a problem with phone contact but rang the store and was told they where moving. All in all no complaints quick and efficient service
Oh dear. Well, the jury is still out. However, I ordered my goods on 15 April and received an order confirmation. However, it is now ten days later (and the fish medicine is urgently needed, of course) and no indication of when the order might arrive. Moreover, three phone calls (to different numbers) at the office simply rang off. This is ominous from a customer perspective. If plausible reassurance does not arrive by tonight, I have advised that payment will be cancelled. Ten days might not seem like a long time, but it is odd in the context of modern web-marketing. And to be without phone contact is worrisome. Yes, I would have to agree with the other reviewers: pay a little more for a reliable supplier.
awful... i kept going back because of the price, but every order has had issues. mis-picks , leaking liquids , or items 'to follow' that never arrive, and are still 'on order' .this last one is the final straw....over a month waiting, and ive explained to their seemingly only customer service bod, a ms hammond, that their stock is wrong. she has done nothing to rectify it, so they are still selling units of non-existant stock.i have had to chase and chase ( heres a tip...try emails as the non-premium phone number doesnt get answered) with no effort from their side to contact me to keep me informed or address the issues. these guys survive on price point alone because customer service is truly disgusting. i have asked for details of a director, or head of the company but the request was ignored. awful...avoid and pay a tiny bit more for one of the competitors ( google and youll find a couple of other decent ones) and you will get your goods and decent service. but arkpets? a total joke!
I have to give one star but Arkpets Online really deserve NO stars. I placed an order for some filter pads & the website showed 7 in stock. The order status went to "pending" & didn't change for 4 days. I made 55 calls to customer service number with no response. Sent 8 emails & finally got a response saying that they were out of stock & would be getting some stock soon. I checked the webisite & it still said 7 in stock. Sent another email saying "please cancel order & refund money"..... order was cancelled the same day & a week later I'm still waiting for refund. My account says "refund pending". I strongly advise that you do not place an order with this company. The most shocking online experience I have ever had.

Feb 15,2024Sold cat food which turned out to be out of stock !!! Eventually tried to deliver on 2 occasions but DX requires signature. Lots of e mails then said will only Refund once back in warehouse !!! So another e mail , eventually got money back. Will not use again !
