So, Why Birchwood? The year was 1967 and my grandfather ‘Pops’ had taken his first steps into the world of cars, starting exactly where anyone would in Cardiff at the time, City Road.
Beginning his journey as a mechanic and working his way through the ranks he became owner of his own showroom located in the heart of the road of a thousand cars. Called ‘General Motors’ he seemed to think using the name of a popular American manufacturer at the time might generate some attention, and it certainly did.
He would work tirelessly day and night trying his upmost to be the best, not the biggest, not the cheapest, but the best.
It was his passion, and everyone who knew him could agree on one thing, he achieved his goal. My journey began in much of the same way, I started as a Saturday boy cleaning cars and now I own Birchwood Motors, and like Pops, I don’t desire to be the biggest, I don’t desire to be the cheapest, but I DO desire to be the best.

Being left to wander around the cars before being approached my Oscar instantly put me at ease, something that didn’t happen at previously visited dealerships. His knowledge of cars helped guide me to make informed decisions, within my budget, and purchase my new car for my young family, which can often be daunting. The time, both Morgan and Oscar, took to talk me through the process, help understand policies and even show me how to set up the Bluetooth helped to make something that I’ve usually found stressful, actually enjoyable. Oct 26,2023Unfortunately after purchasing my Meriva there were some engine issues whilst under warranty. Staff at Birchwood were as disappointed as me and did their best to resolve this. Unfortunately they were unable to do so. Within 24hrs I received a full refund including the cost of any extras that left me out of pocket. Staff were very apologetic and so helpful i would highly recommend them. Issue was resolved promptly and professionally.
