The two impacts from this training, are empathy and transparency. Having the empathy to see things from another's point of view, the father of a child with autism who is/was also a law enforcement officer. Empathy to realize that what may be our norm, is not their norm and to learn how to help them. Transparency in Captain (R) Turning's approach that in some situations, without the knowledge and training he provides, officers may misread the situation, conduct business as ususal, doing everything within the norms of policy and procedure, and have some catastrophic results.

This training class has helped me learn more techniques on how to help individuals with Autism. I will be using these techniques when I need to in the future.

The presentation was presented in a way that was respectful to those with autism and helps those who don’t have autism understand what we are thinking/going through. I was beyond impressed with how Jerry Turning was able to talk about things that I didn’t know about myself, but made sense as soon as he said it. He was respectful to his audience who had questions and related to those who have autistic/special needs children. He showed that we are no different than neurotypical people, just a little slower on the uptake and express emotions differently. I normally have at least one thing to say to do better for next time, but I have nothing. This was the best training I have ever gone through. I learned so much for situations that I could run into as well as learning about myself and what I have been trying to tell others for YEARS. I would take any class presented by this group, ESPECIALLY if the presenter is Jerry Turning.

Instructor was engaging and the ability to discuss both sides, parent and LEO, was very much appreciated. Having a daughter just diagnosed as on the spectrum at 16 yo, I believe my wife and I probably missed some indicators much earlier in her life that were discussed in the class.

Hi Jerry, just want to thank you again for the presentation on Autism for first responders held at the Green Lane Fire Co. on August 11th. I am a paramedic and have a two year old non verbal grandson recently diagnosed with autism. The information you presented will not only help me on the job but also as "Nonnie" to this little one who is always one step ahead of me. Thank you for your book. I look forward to reading about your journey. Thank you so much! Keep sharing! Your information is so helpful and encouraging. Audrey Reed

I walked in to this class not knowing much about Autism, but came away with much more knowledge on how to deal with individuals on the spectrum. Would recommend this class to anyone.

Tremendously informative. This truly should be a mandate training for every law enforcement agency across the country. Just bringing attention and understanding to autism could literally save a life and a career.

We were honored to have Jerry come speak to our police department for the second time in a few years. His presentation is so engaging and informational, and we already cant wait to have him come back. We invited several police departments to attend and I received such positive feedback from everyone. He sheds light on so many things that I think get overlooked by those who are uninformed. His presentation without a doubt makes us all better officers. Thank you!

This has been one of the best training I’ve received in my 10 year law enforcement career. Law Enforcement Officers often go through various training on a monthly basis and honestly at times it’s is hard to stay focus. I can without a doubt say, this was not the case with this particular training. The training was very educational and interesting. Jerry had my full attention!!! After this training,I feel like I want to educate and gain further knowledge on the topic. Thank you Jerry for sharing your knowledge and personal experience on Autism with us. God bless, you’re an amazing instructor and an outstanding father.

Having spent the last 20 years as a police officer, I’ve gone to a lot of training. Jerry is the real deal. Of all the autism training I’ve had this is by far the best. You can’t attend this training and not walked away a changed person. He leaves you with so many easy to remember tips that could be life-changing for a family. I would highly recommend any department to hire Jerry.

As a cop we take so many training classes. I never thought a class on autism would be one of my favorites. Very informative and interesting. Not only did i learn about autism, i learned about society and learned more about myself. Also the fact that Gerald was a cop himself and has an autistic child makes it that much better. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

First and probably most importantly is that the times have changed in our noble profession where everything we do is watched and scrutinized daily. I feel that is our duty to educate ourselves more about the people and communities we serve in order to do better. I feel that this training was done very well with intimate insight.

I have taken several classes shedding light on this subject and this is one of the most detailed and perspective ones I have taken.
