The Chicken curry used to have thigh cooked with the curry full of flavour now it's awful rubber breast cooked sperate most likely steamed then added after. Had to throw them away. I think they have changed form smaller batch cooking to mass produced, they are now similar to supermarkets. Also they stopped the great fried chicken biryani, the chicken one is now not great either.

Sep 21,2024I love a good curry and have tried a great number of the years. Having read the description about the curries from Chef Akila, I decided to give them a try, and Iam so glad I did. They are excellent in how they are prepared, taste truly delicious and would highly recommend them to everyone. You can even decide what day you would like delivery, and this actually works a treat. The box is so well packaged and frozen with chiller packs. So all in all I would highly recommend Chef Akila curries.

Sep 21,2024the food itself is quite good. taste is genuinely very southern though sometimes there is a preponderance of cinnamon. my main issue would be the size of the portions. i struggle to see how these could be a meal for 2 people. i am a pretty normal, fit, active guy, around 6' 2" and even after eating one of these myself, i can still feel hungry. i have a local restaurant here in scotland which sells equally great food, though not with the southern influence, and their servings are excellent. i sometimes find i can't finish one of their meals, which are sold as being for 1 person. so, much as i like the food, i won't buy again due to the portion size. EDIT: thinking about it, the price of these meals, allegedly for 2, is effectively the same price as my local for a meal for 1. so perhaps if i ignore the suggested serving setting and treat these as a meal for 1, i should reconsider :) EDIT #2: i had a private response from the owner. i would like to emphasise, as i stated in my original review, that the food is good, it was only my take on the portion size that was my issue. so i'll upgrade my review from 3 stars to 5 on this basis.

I have recommended Akila to many friends and those who tried always loved it! I should also mention the variety available for various dietary preferences.Party packs are a lovely addition too.

Sep 14,2024These are excellent meals! Generous chunks of slow-cooked chicken and lamb and quite delicious! One meal lasts me two days so the price isn't as dear as it appears. Wouldn't rave about the side dishes as much..
