We have just returned from our wonderful Egypt Nile Cruise, what a fantastic holiday. Both my husband and myself had a trip of a life time, we met the most amazing people and made great friends. Our boat The Santuary Nile Adventurer was 5 star, food amazing, staff excellent, honestly couldn’t fault it. Our holiday wasn’t the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny and more. Our Egyptologist was so knowledgeable, and gave amazing talks on each excursion. Cox & Kings organised everything for us, and can honestly say there was nothing that could have been better. Thank you Cox & Kings for a truly amazing most memorable holiday.
Just returned from a superb week in Jordan arranged for us as a private visit. All the arrangements were exceptional - including transfers, car and driver, and the hotels chosen for us. At all times we felt we were really well looked after.
We went to Costa Rica and purchased an add on birdwatching trip. It took much longer than stated to get from the airport to the hotel. We arrived after 9.30pm, reception was closed and it took over 40 minutes to find our room. By now it was approaching 11 pm and we had to be up to go in a guided trip at 5.15am. When we got there it was the wrong trip. We were promised birdwatching but it turned out to be a Quetzel spotting trip. After going up the road and finding these birds with another 50 people, we moved on and spookily found the Quetzels in the hotel grounds. The Quetzel trip was half the price of the birdwatching trip. Do Cox and Kings care ? Frankly they don't give a monkeys. Their customer service is rude and unhelpful and their communication is at times unintelligible. We have used them before and been very happy but we won't do it again.
Just back from Patagonia, after the trip of a lifetime . Every aspect of it was well planned and we had the benefit of the experienced Argentinian Tour Guide,Sandra, who ensured that every small detail of the whole tour was taken care of.The optional extension to the Iguazú Falls was well worth it,although our guide there did the bare minimum for us .
Excellent, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly guidance when booking a holiday.
On The Grand Tour of India our great guide Albhi gave us real insights into Indian cultural life. He also made the fact we were never anywhere more than 2 nights as easy as possible. He created a group dynamic that made the trip fun as well as fascinating. The only negative in 17 days was Ranthambore. Not because we didn't see a tiger but because we didn't really learn anything about the National Park because jeep/park guides didn't speak English and no additional guide gave us any insight. One of the jeep rides returning from the park nearly had a very dangerous millimeter close crash. All 6 other destinations were brilliant.
Colombia is an amazing country. Beautiful, vibrant, colourful. The ten nights of the tour were well balanced and the standard of the accommodation was high.
A tremendous fun packed tour with great fellow travellers.
Brilliantly organised and well thought out. Holiday of a lifetime.
The whole holiday was brilliantly organised. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly and always on time. Chile is a very special place, the more so because of your guidance.
The guide was excellent. The trip was very interesting. The accommodation was very good and considering the constraints, the food was reasonable on the whole. ( The buffet lunch in Trinidad was the low point, the evening meal in Trinidad and the lunch in Vinales were particularly good). We were aware that the food would not be a highlight, and it certainly wasn't. Still, they do what they can with the sanctions situation. The only big criticism was the beach extension at the end of the trip. We went for the standard hotel thinking all we needed was a beach and an inclusive hotel in which to wind down. We were totally unprepared for the extremely loud pool entertainment and music led by a very 'enthusiastic' team. It was painful to our ears as we arrived and walked past to our room ,and we could still here the team encouraging a few guests to play their games. We returned to reception to ask about this and, with raised eyebrows, were told that it goes on all day everyday. We therefore asked for an upgrade to the alternative hotel which was eventually arranged, at the full extra cost to us which was disappointing. This hotel was lovely although the restaurant choice wasn't available due to low occupancy. We feel we should have been advised that the first hotel is definitely a family complex and the second is adults only.
Well organised tour of Southern India, starting in Tamil Nadu with its amazing Hindu temples and ending in beautiful Kerala. One of the hotels accommodated our three single travellers in ‘an annexe’ that was three minutes walk away with inferior facilities.
The guide, Tush, was really good, not to say excellent. He was a mine of information about the wild flora and fauna, which is so plentiful on the island. He was attentive and looked after us very well. A couple of the hotels were truly exceptional, namely the Heritance Kandalama and Earls Regency Hotel, which spoiled us for the rest of the holiday as they set a gold standard not attained by any of the later hotels. On the negative side, a couple of the hotels were not at all good: The Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya and the final hotel the Heritance Ahungalla. We were originally booked to stay in the Heritance Tea Factory (not the Grand Hotel) but this was changed at the last minute and the replacement was not up to the usual high Cox & Kings standard It was fusty and the room small and not especially comfortable. The Ahungalla hotel was okay, no complaints about the room, but the food was meagre and not very good. On the last night, our party arrived "late" for dinner (about 19:30) and there was not much left at the buffet. This might have been the fault of the hordes of Russians also staying at the hotel, who proceeded to occupy large areas of it, as is their wont. We were insufficiently warned about the strenuous nature of some of the visits, notably Mihintale where we had to take off our shoes (nothing was said about this part of the punishment in the brochure) and walk across several hundred metres of rough ground before even reaching the worn and slippery steps. This was all conducted in the rain which made the trek up to the site more of an endurance test than an enjoyable cultural event. I understand the local requirement to show respect and remove our shoes but, unlike when one visists mosques or Hindu temples, the shoes had to be taken off well before reaching any holy place. Overall, it was a memorable trip but more strenuous than I was expecting.
Brilliant well Organised Trip
We have dealt with Cox & Kings several times before and have been impressed every time.
One of my best ever holidays and my second with Cox and Kings. Excellent service from booking to return home. Lots of pre trip info including detailed itinerary and travel notes. Wonderful tour guide, small group, magnificent hotels and lots of little extras.
Swift & efficient booking process with all questions answered promptly
At this stage we are only at the booking stage. Visited Cox and Kings in London. They were very helpful, re-assuring and professional. We have now booked our trip for later in the year. A couple of E Mails that we sent for clarification were answered by return and covered all the points that we had mentioned.
Nick Coy gave us excellent advice about our travel plans and convinced me in a very professional way to alter our initial destination from Beijing to Shanghai.
