Feb 11,2025Getting foreign cash straight away from an ATM was fantastic. Some ATMs wanted to charge a fee, so I avoided these. I was able to draw a small amount of cash often as and when I needed it and as I didn't want to be left with lots of foreign cash at the end of the holiday. I didn't have to worry about changing money at a foreign exchange bureau, with poor exchange rates before we went on holiday. It saved a lot of time and money. You get an email straight away when a transaction takes place with the currensea travel card. It gives you all the details. This is an excellent feature. You are debited from your bank account a few days later, so there would be time to contest any strange transaction that may happen to appear. Currensea say, even the free card gives a better exchange rate than other cards. I don't know if I agree with this claim completely as my Halifax travel card seemed to give a better rate frequently on purchases. But it is difficult to compare directly. Of course, the Halifax card would be very expensive on ATM cash withdrawals, and doing cash withdrawal with a credit card may affect your credit score, so the currensea card is great.

Feb 11,2025I was in Spain for a week and never had a problem with paying using contactless. On the 1 occasion when I was asked for my PIN, I was able to look it up easily on the app. The £10 offer from moneysavingexpert.co.uk was also promptly paid once I had spent the equivalent of £100.

No matter what I was using money for, the use of the card made it hassle free, knowing that my purchases would come straight out of my bank account, without having to transfer cash anywhere. I definitely recommend this payment method.

Feb 10,2025The currensea card is so easy to use, no different from a debit card in the UK in fact! Within minutes you are updated on the previous spend, shown both in the currency spent and in Sterling. Even with the small charge made it's still much preffered than having to open yet another "on line only" bank account and the conditions it brings just to have free transactions abroad.
