Having bought one of their smart doorbells in April we recently moved house and as such changed broadband supplier. Up until then the doorbell worked okay. On pressing the reset with the supplied tool it feels like the button has come away from the board. On contacting them this is where the problems started. A guy called Tom responded saying it was accidental damage and they would not warranty the doorbell. So it’s clear that the doorbell is not fit for purpose. On getting a second opinion from an industry expert (via trading standards) they say the doorbells circuit is very poorly designed and obviously cheaply made. The reset button is simply held on by its solder joints which are of very poor quality and not a good design. The expert went on to say it is almost identical to cheap smart doorbells inside available for under £10 on Chinese resellers. Still they refuse to refund or replace. I would recommend anyone considering them look elsewhere. Hey! Are a company with a business model of huge mark up and zero customer service.
We've had the ring doorbell and the external camera now for over a year. Overall they've both been ok. Had an issue with the camera with constantly needing formatting but seems to have resolved itself. Customer service was fairly quick in replying too. It's overall range is questionable though. Positioned it to pick up footage at the end of the drive which is just under the the max distance but seemed to always fail to notice anything that far. Have since had to move the positioning of it a bit closer and at a different angle but seems to work a bit better. The Doorbell however is a bit of different story. In the summer there's a good 20mins or so where the sunset seems to trigger it over the neighbours house every- single -second. To a point were i have to turn sensor off because i don't particularly want 52 notifications blaring at me. Not entirely Hey!'s fault i guess but can't really change the house position... Just need an angled bracket maybe rather than the flat one they supply? The actual sensor itself is still temperamental though. I mean I've had whole conversations in front of the door to only pick up 10% of it! Even worse when someone knocks on the door instead. It's as if they don't exist and only triggers the sensor if they then ring . It has moments where it even notifies me of movement but then shows nothing in the video.. really odd or just slow! The app really is where it's then just absolutely frustrating and i feel it lets them down and makes me question if they were the right people. I can probably count how many times someone has rung the doorbell and i've actually been able to respond back in time, all on one hand. The rest, well by the time the app has finished "establishing encrypted channel" or even the failed connection try again message, they're gone! Great I think, another mystery visitor. Then the app closes itself so i go on it again for it to be stuck on the same message for so long that i give up with it and hope the next time someone rings it works again. I'm either at home or in the office- both good wifi and good signal for data. However I thought its a wifi heavy thing, so upgraded ours at home. Did it again and got more data thinking i had run out every time, but still nothing. Its very annoying particularly as i bought for the exact purpose to be able to monitor whos at the door and respond back but I can't even see who's knocking! I literally sometimes think it would be quicker for me to drive home and check. In short, they're both ok when they decide to work - including the app. Simple to use set up etc but temperamental sensors really.. Either too slow or triggered by the sun/ reflection off cars. Spending more money on Ring or other big brands wasn't and still isn't really an option so for now they're ok, not the best though. But for the love of security (which is what they advertise) - Hey! make the app more responsive that it actually works in time when someone rings the doorbell, wifi or data .. many thanks...
I have bought 5+ products from Hey! And haven't been disappointed once. The quality of everything, right down to the packaging is amazing, especially for the price. The simplicity of being able to control everything but also having the option to get more advanced options is great and I would 10/10 recommend!
So I got today one video doorbell, 4 smart bulbs and 2 motion sensors. Video doorbell - was fairly straightforward in setting up. Will see how long battery lasts before it need charging. The removal using the alan key screw was a bit frustrating, so will see if I can find a way to charge whilst still on the door Smart bulbs..whilst working now, it did take several attempts to connect them to the WiFi etc. Bit got there eventually. Motion Sensor - bought these for hallway that has 4 lights, to try and help with energy saving. The "instructions" at setting up the motion sensor, claimed setup in less than 10 mins, but it stopped after connect it to wifi and your good to go .. unless it was buried deep in some Internet page, it took me a few hours to work out how to connect the motion sensor to the lights. Now that they are connected, whilst it does what I need it to do, the lag between the sensor actually turning on the lights is several seconds. I walk in the front door, walk through the hall and I am in the kitchen, and then I hear the lights click on. Would be better if it was more dynamic. Will see how this progresses when using regularly. Also when I tried to set for lights to only be working at sunset..the app ask for current city, but list is completely blank so nothing to choose from
Recently purchased a Smart floodlight camera which became faulty (sound issue) a few weeks after installation. Contacted Hey and their support team went through all they could to fix however ultimately it required a return. Replacement was sent the same day and received a day later. Installed the new camera and all working fine. Great product and great customer service. Will be back for more products in the near future.
I ordered 4 smart plugs. Had an issue with one and it was immediately replaced without fuss. Great products and great customer service!
I'd give minus 1000 stars if I could had the doorbell and external camera for 6 months then without warning in any form, email, notification anything they or Amazon decide to take the live view option away so now I can't view My cameras thru an Echo Show which is WHAT I BOUGHT THE CAMERAS for in the first place! NOT HAPPY WITH THEM NOW! I predict they'll go out of business very soon, don't be like me and buy cheap go with a big player name camera not these fly by nights.Youve been warned.
Was easy to setup, worked with all my existing kit and better yet was much cheaper than Philips Hue! I've saved a fortune!
The products are clever and well priced however they are not reliable (I had some products that didn’t work out of the box) and the app is not stable, I had the all day my account didn’t exist and reset all my settings. Customer support is non-existent.
I purchased an outdoor camera for my place in Portugal. I have set up 4 other cameras out here so I know how they work (or supposed to work). I tried for about 24 hours to pair the product without success. Nobody ever answers the telephone “help” line provided and the watts app communication is a farce. After detailing the problem all they say “ hi there what is the problem - anything else we help today ……. I discovered that the returns policy is 14 days . I won’t be back in time to do this so I guess I am stuck with the useless piece of ####z There is clearly a problem with this device so if I were you I would buy from Amazon any number of foreign brands that are comparable in price and actually have much better customer help and service if not you have much longer to return the product. This company are awful.
After installing the home security package I would say the following: - installation: not as easy as expected due to having to change router settings to allow 5 Ghz and 2.5 Ghz two transmit on two seperate SSID'S. After this it was pretty straight forward. I wish there was an angled bracket add on for the doorbell as it can only be installed straight on unless you fashion something yourself. -App: functions are basic at best, the app is the same one a lot of other smart home brands use. My best advice is to use Alexa routines and turn off notifications from the app. - Devices: all work as expected, however the range on the doorbell is very poor so had to buy a WiFi range extender to get a good signal. The doorbell also takes a long time to connect to and you can't select zones for the motion detection to work, so it's either not sensitive enough or it's so sensitive it detects a tree moving the other side of the street... virtually useless. I am sticking with Hey! For now, but I am keeping an eye out for changing to another system soon.
I have many Hey! Products ranging from bulbs, sensors, cameras and light strips. I bought quite a lot from them a while ago, however I feel the quality has just gone downhill. Recently bought a 5m light strip for the back of the TV, I already have another strip from Hey which works fine but this one that has arrived cannot cycle through any green colours and has a dodgy connector. No green means no yellow and off shade blue. I like some Hey products run through local tuya in my home automation as its much quicker than their app however the quality of this product has really let me down and making me look elsewhere.
Purchased 2 external cameras and doorbell quite a while back, I honestly wish I’d done more research and gone with a different brand. If you have the cameras on high sensitivity they pick everything up but the batteries only last 2 days. On low sensitivity the batteries last but only because the cameras don’t pick anything up! One of the cameras constantly comes up stating that the SD card needs reformatting regardless of how many times it’s been reformatted! The doorbell works…most of the time! The number of times we’ve missed someone being at the door whilst out because of the delay from the doorbell ring to the app waking up to the device waking up within the app! (This is also the same when at home, the lag is just infuriating!) All in all I would not buy again, and for anyone thinking of getting the products spend the little extra to get a decent kit from a decent brand.
I couldn't link my smart plugs to my Google Home due to my idiocy, customer services helped me out and solved my problem.
I have just purchased and installed an external surveillance kit, first class robust product at a good price point, easy to set up and install. Customer support went beyond expectation, I made an error with my order and they rectified it within 24 hours. so disappointing …….Not a single thing to complain about. Now looking to purchase additional products in the near future.
Never had an issue with hey there stuff is great value for money boxed really well and works with smart life app.
Impressive product I think
Great thanks
Ridiculously long response time. We're talking tens of seconds here! Coupled with the fact that it does not respond to lack of motion - making it useless for proper light control - mean it is virtually useless for that purpose. And did I mention that after it automatically turns the light off (when you want the light to remain on!), It takes minutes to wake up and turn the light on again. Worst smart home device I have ever purchased...and I've had a few.

Jan 07,2023I have the doorbell camera. I like the fact that I don’t need to use cloud storage and the picture is really good.
