Back again! Our boy is completely at home and hardly wanted to leave. He was pleased to see me, but you can tell just how well looked after he is when that initial greeting is short and he goes back to Maggie and Lynn. 100% confident that he will be 100% cared for and loved - thank you
Pam was wonderful, our lurcher Juno, has been twice now and was very happy!
Linda and Steve were perfect for looking after our spaniel Dudley. They kept us updated with daily pictures of their walks etc with him, it was quite obvious he had a great time, he was even a bit sulky coming home! Dudley has a few quirky habits but they didn’t faze Linda and Steve at all. We felt happy and relaxed that he was being well cared for. We would definitely use them again.
Home from home dog boarding have been brilliant. Quickly responded to our request for a dog sitter and found us a suitable match straight away. We were then able to arrange a visit free of charge prior to our dogs stay and our dog seemed very well looked after whilst we were away. Our dog sitter even sent us updates so we knew our dog was ok. Wouldn’t hesitate to book in with them again.
Home from Home provides a structure so dogs, owners and carers are safe. My two dogs Rosie and Gracie have returned home from a lovely week-end with Jean. They love staying with her and she enjoys their visit. A win, win situation.
The dog boarders, Nigel and Dawn, just the most lovely people! Thank you for all the love and care you gave Izzy!
Lovely carer. Our dog clearly loved her and she seemed unphased about his diet and skin issues. Friendly and efficient booking service.
Our cavalier came home happy and was clearly well looked after. Home from home was able to provide an alternative carer at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances, for which we are grateful. Will happily use again.
Arthur loves going to Janice she looks after him like one of the family . I go away knowing he is in the best of hands . She sends me photos of him at her house. I couldn’t get better care of my dog.
Wish we had used Home from Home before. So incredibly happy with the service and our dog sitter.
I can see why Home from Home would receive many great reviews, I just unfortunately ended up with a bad experience. The dog boarders, Calvin and Chantel, were new to Home from Home, and so at the time of agreeing to board with them there wasn’t much information to go off of. Upon meeting them they are very kind and nice, the difficulty ended up lying in the fact they ultimately do not understand dog behaviour, especially rescue dogs. This only became apparent to me once my dog was in their care, and she is a rescue. They were feeding her from the table (without my approval, she is never fed from the table at home) and got confused and frustrated at the fact she then wouldn’t eat her dog food. They also had been exacerbating separation anxiety in her - she would cry if Calvin left the house. When Calvin told this to me, he was laughing about it almost as if her behaviour was cute - which is how I could tell he enjoyed my dog becoming so attached to him. I was concerned about her separation anxiety, as this is something I had spent a long time on her training for and she had shown no sign of it for over a year. She would be staying with Calvin and Chantel for 2 months, and it was important she didn’t fall back on her training. And so I instructed them to make sure my dog slept in her own bed rather than them put her in the bed with them, so that she maintains her independence. Calvin didn’t respond to this message, and it was clear my instruction had annoyed him - I had to chase responses from him, to which he responded short and curt. He even at one point ghosted me entirely - giving me no update on my dog for 2 days when I was asking how she was. Every other day in fact I would have to chase for an update on my dog, as they often forgot/neglected to give me daily updates. When I brought this up with the agency, they spoke to Calvin and Chantel about it and they claimed they had been giving me daily updates - which was a lie. Considering I have been the other side of the world with my dog in their care my concerns were growing. I also felt I had to tread on eggshells with Calvin as when he didn’t respond to my instructions for her to sleep in her own bed, I could tell he could be reactive and easily upset. Turns out - they had continued to keep my dog in their bed secretly despite my instruction - they had told me she no longer slept with them, whilst in fact still keeping her in their bed. And so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had also continued feeding her from the table. They don’t have experience with understanding dog behaviours, and they don’t understand how their own actions and energy influence a dog’s behaviour - especially a sensitive rescue. As someone who has paid them for their service, they did not respect me as my dog’s owner and behaved as if they knew better than me for what is good for my rescue - despite me being an experienced dog owner, dog trainer and dog boarder myself. At one point I received yet another condescending message from Calvin to which I responded in a direct manner what is best for my dog, and how I would appreciate him respecting me as her owner and get on the same team. To which his wife Chantel responded very reactively, at one point saying I was “deluded” and then threatening to no longer look after my dog. Baring in mind I am the other side of the world away from my dog for 2 months, so this puts me in an EXTREMELY stressful and difficult predicament. I need to know my dog is safe, and I also need to feel safe and assured as her owner that there is a good relationship between myself and the boarders. I immediately had a friend pick my dog up from them, as there’s no way she can stay with a reactive couple who could easily threaten to not look after her anymore. The agency have been understanding and helpful for the most part, my only disappointment is the fact they wouldn’t issue me a full refund for the outstanding days my dog no longer stayed in the couple’s care. Considering the circumstances, receiving anything but the full refund isn’t good enough. I only picked my dog up earlier than planned because the couple had threatened to not look after her anymore, and they were being negligent in so many ways as carers, towards my dog’s needs and my own needs. My dog has since been in the care of a friend who’s saved the day offering to look after her - and she has been eating all of her food and showing no sign of separation anxiety. Which confirms it was Calvin and Chantel’s behaviour that had been exacerbating my dog’s anxieties. Calvin & Chantel shouldn’t be allowed to look after rescue dogs or dogs for long-term stays. I’m sure they’d do great with dogs with easy temperaments. They ultimately don’t have the experience or expertise to look after rescues, and they don’t have the openness to learn about rescues either. They simply behave as if “they know best”
Everything was dealt with in a very thorough way which gave me confidence that our dog would be well cared for, and she was.
Our regular sitters Janice and Alan were as excellent as they always are! Our two dogs are always happy to see them and we can rest assured that they will be very well looked after. Also the company is very good to deal with, the booking process being easy and the staff always very helpful and polite. 10/10 once again!
Easy to contact on phone. Advisors listen and then make best recommendation for a dog boarding home. Efficient service and a chance to ‘vet’ carer before hand. All carers are vetted by a company visit.
Prompt responses, professional and very kind after I explained was a family emergency. With very short notice they came to our rescue finding a wonderful couple to take care of our Frenchie that had never stayed with anyone before.
Our Cockapoo had a lovely time with Julie. He truly becomes one of the family. This is the second time that Arthur has been to Julie and it is wonderful to be able to go away and know that he is being cuddled and loved. Julie sends lots of photos which is so caring, we can never have enough photos of Arthur. We can relax and enjoy our holiday knowing that he is occupied with walks, excursions and generally being kept busy.
Everything went so well as expected. Couples who look after my dog was so lovely and calm. They really made our dog comfortable and help to make sure the dog was having a lovely holiday too by sending me some photos. It was lovely to keep in touch. Thank you for everything.
The agency were very efficient and prompt at finding us a lovely home for Bentley while we were away. Peter and Linda looked after him as their own and the feeling was mutual!
Home from home matched us to the wonderful Alain and Robert. Thank you so much we can now go on holiday with no worries our dogs are being well looked after.
